I was there to check out the tree. Oh that tree is glorious, over 225 feet with a truck of neatly 21 inch circumference. Anyways back to the shop. It's in a red painted building in front of Lucky Llama coffee. Heritage sells sustainable, eco friendly items in a curated country store. The merchandise range from baby clothes, toys, art, kitchenware, stationary, vegetable and flower seeds, dishes, drink ware, etc. Think modern and hip. The items are practical and beyond the mundane same old. The price points are at boutique pricing but not so outrageously priced. The items that caught my eye were art prints from Hello Coyote, and Little Salt Wagon. May I add, pieces were affordable ranging from small prints, greeting cards, to larger sizes. Little Salt Wagon is art from local Ventura County artist Amanda Cox. Simple, but beautiful watercolors inspired by the rural Ventura County surroundings.

They also have slightly used clothing which I loved--way to recycle and reuse well made clothing. Definitely stop by for a gift for yourself or someone you love. Prices were reasonable with some high priced items (Patagonia, Blundstone, Levi's, etc.)

I was on a lovely shopping day and my last stop was in your store ... first off it smells terrible like old dirty gym socks in your store ... please open the door or burn a candle or a diffuser and second I am a woman with curves ... not the kind of curves I'm ashamed of the kind I've grown to like. I am on a good day a size 12 and on a bad day a 14 and I couldnt find one single pair of pants in your store that I could wear. Your target market, if I may be so bold is 45-65, which is the age range of those of us ladies who have had children and have had hormones and life. Why then would your limited stock only house clothes that would fit size 6? Nothing wrong with size 6 but can't we be inclusive and love all our sizes?? Wait before you say I can't stock every single size DONT!!! You can stock one style above a size 10. On the upside your sales woman was very pleasant and offered some assistant though it would be good if she understood basic garment measurements as your sizing does tend to vary. I say these words with kindness in my heart and to help you prosper not to hurt you.

An older woman who was not the owner was working and was rude and curt to everyone in my party including my husband who was more than happy to drop alot of money in there for me. I am older and she followed me around like I was a shoplifter. She accused one of the gals I was with of changing a price tag, then got made at me because I put my purchases on the counter to check out. I seriously would have left but was so embarrassed I did not want to ruin the day and the gals I were with were blown away at her rudeness. She also turned to my husband and son as he was shopping with me and said "there is a book store across the street!" as if she did not want them in the store. I ended up buying all my over priced purchases anyhow and left. I seriously almost put everything back and walked out but like I said did not want to ruin the day. Avoid this place at all cost. It is over priced for second hand clothing even in Carpenteria. Go to American Cancer Discovery stores or Assistance League stores instead where you are treated with respect. Why the owner allows such a rude lady to work for her is beyond my understanding. I should have listened to the other reviews that said the same things.

I will not be back. I walked in to look around as I have never been here. I love to shop local and I was excited to see all the local Carpinteria merchandise. I wasn't greeted. OK. Fine, I can accept that as maybe she was having a bad day? It was an older lady, blonde hair, who was working. She was *radiating annoyance and irritation and I felt awkward trying to even make small talk with her. You could tell she didn't want to be there, and by the body language she was presenting, she didn't want me there, either. I had asked a question about plus sized shirts. I had asked about the sticker prices. I knew after my 2nd question that she couldn't care less if I had any questions or even if I had asked her what time it was. I bought a few items because I felt a bit guilty about going in and just looking. I still love Carp even though this experience sucked. I wouldn't recommend spending your money in this place. Support one of the other local businesses in the area instead who really appreciate you and your money!

Their clothing is gorgeous, high quality, and unique. I was elated when I saw they had opened a store on State Street in Santa Barbara. My first visit was to buy a gift for a friend (she loved a pair of wide leg linen pants I had and I wanted to get her something similar). I found the item I was looking for and asked the cashier what the return policy was. I never asked before because when buying for myself, I make sure I 100% want the item and it fits perfectly, as I hate to return stuff. I was told I could get my money back if I returned it within 14 days with receipt. After that, it was store credit only. The pants did not fit my friend, so I went to return them. I was told I could only get store credit. I phoned the Ojai store and explained what happened, and they allowed the return for cash. I will not go into detail as to how I got treated when I returned the pants once again to store manager Andrea. It was the most obnoxious, ungracious way to treat a great customer. So for all of you who go shop at Kariella and I highly recommend the store, just avoid dragon Andrea. You can't miss her : hair uncombed, tattoos all over, bare stomach hanging over clothing that is 2 sizes too small for her weight, looking like she just came rolling in from having spent a night in a biker's bar. The other girls who work at Kariella are super friendly and nice, just like the people in the Ojai store. 10 stars for Kariella! -100 stars for Andrea!
