Everything was a disaster from day one. I was moving from a whole home to a condo. Too much stuff. Even after junking so much of it. The men work hard. But my furniture was regarded as junk. Mattresses are all black and ripped underneath. And they were in perfect condition before the move. My total bill was 10k! I was totally disgusted in myself for all I packed. Everything was piled into one room in the condo! Not where I had written them. Right smack in the middle of the living and dining room. The manager kept calling wanting to know where and what these men were doing. My wi if was not set up yet to do her, manager bill on Zelle. That was an easy fix because I had it turned on by company but just had not gotten to set it up. So she was waiting to see payment on her end. I had things in their truck furniture that was too large to fit through door way. and was charged $99.00 a day! So $990.00 because they could not fit them in, the pieces were too big. So some were left in the truck for 10 days until I could clear the wall off from boxes that they were going to go right in that very spot. It cost me a chunk of money for using their truck as storage. It was such a mercy-less company! Greedy and cruel! And those big trucks just sit there on the lots dozens of them! Charged big money if you used their boxes. I was totally at their mercy and no way out! I still had things in their truck! It was the most stressful and expensive move, and I was only 5 towns away! I totally wised up the last pick up at my storage unit. Took my 2 pieces of furniture and 2 boxes and I grabbed my sewing machine. I left other things behind. If I get a chance I will empty the room out. That is only $100 a MONTH! But Tristate charging me $99.00 a day was ridiculous for 3 pieces of furniture in there! I wasn't holding a truck up, they have a whole fleet of them! The trucks are filthy inside. The whole thing was very very stressful! The manager also wanted a review. Well here it is. She didn't want them to leave without a review! Save your money people. Make sure you pack your own. I had to hurry on my end and only had one person helping me pack 2 times a week. It had to be a quick move. My seller wanted out of her condo. Then her attorney decided she needed a vacation so it upped my date even more. If there was anything that happened it happened and kept snow balling! No family help, they offered but didn't really want to do it. Never said we will be here such a such a day. Tri-State charged approximately $1,200 more than its original estimate, moved our property to another warehouse without our knowledge or consent, and has lost approximately half of our belongings. When the company attempted delivery, numerous items were missing or damaged, and there was visible rodent feces in the truck and among our property. Of the six bicycles entrusted to Tri-State, four were missing, and the two returned bicycles were damaged. Tri-State has repeatedly canceled meetings, failed to return calls and avoided resolving these serious problems. Our remaining belongings still have not been returned. The Company's poor reputation is well documented on the BBB Website. Consumers should be on guard and should not deal with this company. Stay away from this company!! They quoted us $2,500 for the move. When the truck was loaded, they only accepted Zelle and said the bill was $3,750. They had our stuff so we had no choice but to pay. They then said we had 30 days free storage in Florida and when we told them we were ready for our delivery, they said we owed another $750 in storage charges even though we were told we had a free month. We had no choice but to pay that too! They could't have been nicer and more responsive before we paid. After that, it was a nightmare getting them to respond to calls, texts, emails. If i could rate less than one i would, I had multiple things broken we put in a "claim" i never heard anything back. My expensive things ruined and they had no care. I made sure to wrap things and they did not care they took the wrap off my mattress and dragged it in the nyc street and through the building. 500$ mattress now stained and dirty. Same thing with my couch they took the plastic off and dragged it. They broke my tv stand and my legs of my bedroom set. I then also tipped the guys after since i felt bad them coming all the way up to the 4th floor only to find out they also took a 100$ in my payment for a tip as well if i knew about this i wouldn't have tipped on top. This Company is a sham do not use them. They give you an in-house estimate which is way too low and then once your stuff is loaded, they give you a much higher well over what was quoted amount then tell you that you can pay upon delivery yet get a phone call saying they won't deliver your items until you pay the balance in full. This company's service was disastrous and marked by dishonesty. My fiancé and I had an in-home estimate for an out-of-state move, detailing furniture and boxes. The estimator assessed our belongings, leading us to believe we had a firm quote. Upon the movers' arrival, we were confronted with a demand for double the estimate. This contradicted their website's promise of "no surprises." Forced by a tight schedule, we agreed, paying half upfront with the understanding the remainder was due upon delivery. The agreement stipulated a weekend pickup and Tuesday morning delivery. However, communication proved impossible. Repeated attempts to confirm the delivery time were met with dismissive responses and delays. On Monday evening, we were told no updates were available until Tuesday. Tuesday arrived, and we received no communication. Upon contacting them, we were informed our belongings would not be delivered until the following weekend, a week beyond the agreed-upon date. Despite our understanding that payment was contingent upon delivery, we received a text demanding full payment immediately, threatening to withhold our belongings. This constitutes holding our possessions hostage. The company's communication was abysmal, their customer service nonexistent, and their reliability nonexistent. On day of move they came 4 hours late due to "traffic" and had no moving Dolly. Luckily I had two dolly which I provided . Instead of 3-4 movers only 2 came in a budget truck. Both Anthony and Jeffery got to work. Both very nice guys. After loading the truck they drove across the street 40 feet and that's when the scamming began from Tri state. I get a call from a an Indian lady name Dippty (manager) stating that my new total was $1700 instead of the $645 quoted prior. I pleaded with this women that this is 3x the price quoted however she would not listen. Then threatened to hold my Furniture in their warehouse if I didn't Zelle the full amount. They would not unload the furniture unless the bill cleared. I eventually had to pay over $1500 plus tips for a move that was simply across the street and initially quoted $645. Dippty's reason for almost triple the price was because it was more item moved and it took them longer time to move. Both false. They came hella late and had no moving equipment. 4/4/2022 It's been eight months since our move. This so called company has not made good on sending an adjuster to look at our damaged items (we paid for the insurance for this purpose) or have they found our missing belongings. This has got to be the worst moving company for relocating out of state. Truck broke down in Georgia forcing all my possessions to be stored until I could get back down to Florida. Once delivered my furnitures was either scratched, gauged or in the case of the night stand dropped and the unit completely damaged beyond repair. Also the mirror on my dresser had the wrong screws used during assembly so the finished side had the screws break through. As of yet I still have not had my damaged pieces fixed or in the case of the nightstand replaced all calls to the person handling the scheduling Gabriel go un returned. Please DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY Reason - I talk to a guy named Rich. I explained to him that I want to move - a total of 11 items with pictures and I told him I live on the 5th floor with no elevator and drop off on the 2nd floor with no elevator. Then I received a text message 1 day before for delivery confirmation and I see a different price. I called right away Rich told me that just a machine-generated text and confirmed the price we agree. People came to pick up half an hour late. Picking up all my listed furniture. Before they drop off my furniture they told me I need to pay my balance which is not what I agreed and which is way too high. I call the office and Rich was off and a person name Avgi told me I have been charged by hours which is not mentioned by Rich. I am in that situation where if I don't pay they will not drop off my furniture. In that case, I was forced to pay. I did not check their review before otherwise with I will know how bad their service is. As you see most of the review is the same issue I had faced. I was informed that the person I talk Rich will come Monday. I called Monday and someone told me Rich will contact me but he did not, of course. The next day I call and talk to Rich and he told me that because of the 5th floor they charge more. He denied that I did not mention pickup will be 5th floor and no elevators which is a lie. We used this company to move 6 hours from Long Island. I found the estimator to be very trustworthy- Kenny came to my house, he was kind and thorough. I believe the quote he gave me was reasonable. He stated that your drivers would be weighing the truck in Farmingdale. This was a lie. Your movers told us they measure the cubic feet to get to a weight measurement. The estimate was incredibly off, though it was comparable to other companies that I spoke to. The sale rep, Elaine, also sold the company very well- it seems like she is on your side. However, when it came to the move: - She did not confirm the move beforehand. I had to call. - I had to call 3 TIMES to know when my truck would be delivered. No one notified me. - NO ONE told me the rules of your payment extortion. The total cost of the move was $1600 more than estimated with no communication from an actual person as to why. I received a text message with the additional money and stating I had to pay it to get my belongings delivered. - The text message provided the wrong Venmo name. That was ridiculous. - No one told me that I had to pay before it was unloaded. No rules were laid out. - Absolutely terrible customer service. Your movers: - Yes, they delivered the boxes. I was quoted $595 for 2 hours and. $195 each additional hour to move my daughter's 2 bedroom apartment. An estimate was emailed to me confirming this rate shortly after. The movers were amazing!! Horrible experience with these movers. Damaged my 65" TV. When the movers left they wanted me to sign something saying everything was ok I refused to Sign it or give them permission to charge my credit card for the remainder of the fee. They charged it anyway and it's been five months and they refuse to give me anything for my TV which has a huge scratch in it. Absolute WORST moving company I have ever experienced. Booked my move in advance and called the day beforehand to reconfirm everything and was given a $107 increase in my quote because I am in a third floor walkup (but the original quote they initially provided was for a third floor walk-up, so I do not understand the upcharge), anyway, I figured I would move forward since It was the day before my move. I was given a 12-2pm arrival window and the movers arrived at 6pm. On the day of my move I had everything lined up and ready to go at 12pm and rearranged my family's entire day to accommodate my move from Long Island to Manhattan. On the day of my move, I called at 2pm (the end of my arrival window) and was told the movers would arrive in 30-45 minutes. They never showed, so I called again at 3pm and was told another 30-45 minutes. They still did not show, so I called at 4pm, finally expressing how inconvenient this was, and was told ANOTHER 30-45 minutes. They finally arrived at 6pm and I paid for three movers and what I got was one mover and two teenagers who stood around and did the bare minimum. They dropped boxes and kept flipping them upside down, which rearranged everything in them. I had to step in and move items myself because they were so slow. The woman Elaine who booked my move and was answering the phone on my moving day is incompetent and does not know how to do her job. I tried calling the manager, Gabriel to come to some sort of resolution after my move, but he is not taking my calls or calling me back. Literally the biggest waste of my time and money ever. There are several things wrong with this company and I am appalled they are an existing business. Let me break it down: 1. This company OVERCHARGES. A good friend of mine paid over $1K for her move and she only had enough furniture to fill a bedroom in a Brooklyn apartment. DO NOT TRUST THEIR QUOTES. She was moving to an apartment that's literally a 9-minute drive away. Not hours away. $1K for some furniture and a few blocks away. 2. Movers MISHANDLE, STOLE, and DAMAGED her belongings. Brand new furniture is dented and scuffed, her mattress is punctured, and some of her belongings were stolen. A box labeled FRAGILE was held upside down, putting her cameras at risk of falling and hitting the ground. 3. They are UNPROFESSIONAL. Three movers were hired to help, but two of them were mulling around/not doing anything. When asked to handle some delicate boxes the correct way, my friend was met with inappropriate comments like, "you're too good for this neighborhood, huh?" when her comment had nothing to do with anything BUT the fragile box in hand. 4. DO NOT TRUST THEIR QUOTES - TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE Followed the recommendations on their site and sent them pictures for my move. On 6/8/2020 received a quick call from a gentleman offering me a quote based on my pictures for $495.00. I said lets do it and scheduled my move for Monday, 6/29/2020 and gave him a $100 deposit. On 6/26/2020 called to confirm my move, and the rep I spoke with asked me how I was going to pay the balance. I asked her for the amount, and she said $395.00 but there is a chance there will be extra fees if they need to do more work. She said it would just be an authorization and not a charge until the actual move is complete. I said to use the same card. On Sunday 6/28/2020, I noticed a CHARGE for $514.80. - RED FLAG #1 I tried calling, but could not get through...it is Sunday. On Monday 6/29/20, the movers arrived and completed the move. Even though they completed it, there were issues. They reassembled my bed incorrectly and threw out 13 out of 14 screws for my foot board and did not tell me. They attached it with 1 screw...and attached it incorrectly. Also scratches and dents on both furniture and apartment. At the end, the foreman had me sign a paper stating they arrived at 10:30 and left at 4:30 (6 hours) also asked me if I wanted to leave a gratuity. I said yes, so he called whomever but they didn't speak to me. The foreman stated they were going to call me for authorization and amount. Never happened. I went downstairs to get items from my car, while walking back up, I saw the movers leave and they said goodbye. When I went back upstairs and started looking at my items closely, there is some minor damage and the issue with the bed. That evening, Monday 6/29/2020 I noticed another charge for $556.40 I immediately reached out to them via their website, and no one got back to me. Today, 7/1/2020, I reached out to them and spoke to the first rep, who was very polite and who agreed with me that I was over charged but stated a portion of it is that they worked an additional 1.75 hours at $140 per hour. I agreed that they did. But based on my calculations that an additional $235 on top of what I was quoted, which was $495.00. He stated he was going to have someone call me within the hour to discuss it because he wasnt sure. I called within the hour again, and spoke with Linda who started out professional, but quickly became combative and rude. She accused me of not being able to read their quote and that they also charged me for some truck fee and $150 tip to the drivers. I explained that the original quote was $495 and I paid my deposit and should have been charged an additional $395 plus the extra 1.75 hours of labor, but I told her no one explained that they were charging some sort of truck charge as well as I did not authorize a $150 tip, especially since they broke my bed. The conversation escalated to the point where I did not want to continue it. I explained to her that if they do not fix the issue, I will be forced to contact my credit card company and file a dispute, she told me to go right ahead and that they will tell my credit card company that I am committing fraud. It was a tough move and damaged handrails and walls with a couch. Raised the price 125.00 over estimate and we pay for damages. The guys worked hard but the increase in price is wrong,everything was wrapped and ready. read more

If I could give them ZERO... I would! They confirmed my move for 8:30 am on August 2nd. I was moving 7 houses away from where I lived, so this should not have been difficult. You could SEE the house i was moving to from my old Houses window! After calling every hour since 8:30am... I was always told they were " On their way". They showed up at 5:45 PM with a small UHaul truck. This move lasted until 11:15PM. and they had to go back and forth because they had such a small truck. They charged my credit card 3 times for this same move! Must be their common practice to rip people off! Called 6 times and left messages, and NO return phone call! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, and call the BBB and The Attorney Generals office to file a complaint against them. We are all victims! read more

My experience with Tri-State Movers was professional, economic and stress free. I definitely will hire this company again in the future, as well as refer them to others I know. From the office to the movers in the field it was a positive experience overall. One thing I really like is they operated safely under the Covid pandemic. They are reasonable in cost and honest, which is rare in the industry.
