This is what the Carriage Roads look like.

We decided to invest in taking the 4-hour Ebike tour instead of just renting Ebikes on our own. What a great decision! The tour was fantastic, and our two guides were so excited to teach us all about Acadia National Park. It was our first time on Ebikes and they were effortless to operate. They have four "speeds" and the gears shift smoothly and silently. But just like a regular bike, you do have to keep peddling in order for the electric to kick in to help you move forward. So, after four hours, we were definitely tired. We covered 20 miles and stopped often enough to take amazing photos and get some history from the guides. I don't know how many the max number of people is on a tour. We had eight and it was very manageable. The start and stop point is right at the entrance to the park, so finding it was easy. Highly recommend.

Our ebike adventure goes down as a favorite! Thomas, our tour guide, was welcoming, fun, and informative. He led us on a safe trip and eased our "beginner" minds. Our bike group was fun. We would do it again, with the rainy start and all. Thank you Thomas for a beautiful day of learning and exploration.

We had a gorgeous 20 mile e-bike ride with Marty on the Carriage Roads at Acadia National Park. She was very patient with those of us just learning the bikes and we stopped multiple times for her to point out particular points of interest and history. We highly recommend this tour! Rain or shine!

We loved it! We went 20 miles and it didn't even feel like it. We are not the most athletic people, but honestly the ebikes were amazing as well as Thomas our guide. He was funny, interesting, and took care of us all. We feel like taking this tour allowed us to see the majestic and stunning Acadia National Park in a unique, fun, and all inclusive way. We saw tons of frogs (in all different stages), beaver dams, and a tree that was strategically chewed by them; in addition to Jordan Pond, Eagle Lake and Bubble Pond. We probably would not have seen as much if we didn't do this. Both my husband and I walked away and said it was a great day (even though we rode our bikes in a soft rain most of the time)!

Overall ***** Absolutely awesome!! Three years ago I biked the trails, towing a dog in a carriage, with a regular mountain bike and it was tough, my son only recently started speaking to me again. This summer we brought another family with us and the thought of listening to four kids complain the entire time made me almost not suggest we attempt it. The problem of course is the Carriage Roads are nearly a must do so instead of hauling our bikes up there I set out to find rentals when BOOM eBikes show up on the search! This was a moment of the clouds parting and the sun coming out! First of all Island Time was a breeze to work with, there was a slight hiccup with what the store told us was available and what their online reservation system said was available but that was fixed quickly. We had a packed day in the park ahead of us and I asked them if we could meet to get the bikes at 8:15 and they were right on time. They drop the bikes off at Hulls Cove visiting center. The waivers are simply and easy to fill out and after a brief lesson we were off. The eBikes are absolutely game changing, instead of listening to the kids whine endlessly the air was filled with sounds of pure joy and excitement. The bikes give you just enough boost to make the entire experience enjoyable. We biked 25 miles in 3 hours with smiles plastered across everyone's face the entire time. Be aware that some of the downhills can get really steep so you must have some competency on a bike in the first place but for going uphill "Turbo" will make you feel like you are ready to take on the Tour de France!

This was a great E Bike tour of the carriage roads of Acadia National Park! No experience with E Bikes required. Our guide, Thomas, walked us through everything we needed to know. The roadways were beautiful and there were lovely scenic stops that Thomas knew interesting information about. Highly recommend this experience! With the help of the E Bike, the mileage is nothing!

The owner of Island Time Bike Rentals will meet you with your ebikes at the visitor center, set you up with the right bike, and train you.

We had an outstanding experience with Island Time Bike Rentals (acadiaebikerentals.com). This was our first experience with e-bikes, but it won't be our last. Everything was well-organized, the equipment was first rate and in great condition. Some places charge extra for things like helmets, bottle holders, baskets or racks, but all of that is included here. The owner met us with the bikes, his training/demo was very clear, and he was very accommodating to us. I loved that there was a GPS on my bike, and that a text # was provided. When we did in fact get lost, I was able to text the owner and he saw us and helped us get back on track. Didn't expect that as part of my bike rental service! Great experience overall.

We had a great time on our guided 4 hour e-bike tour. Our guide, Merle, was very friendly, personable and knowledgeable of the area. The e-bikes were good quality, with long battery life. We would highly recommend Island Time and if we're ever back in the area, we will gladly book with them again.

We chose the premium tour which is between 3 1/2 to 4 hours and has 4 stops vs. the classic tour which is 2 1/2 hours long and has 3 stops. The narration is very good and the tour guide knew his stuff. I just felt that the tour was geared for people with limited mobility. During the stops, we didn't really have enough time to explore.....especially on the last stop (Jordan Pond House). They have a restaurant there with a beautiful outdoor area on the water. It is famous for its popovers. I thought for sure, we would be able to sit down a little and have some, but the tour guide talks about the popovers and then says, we won't have time to try them. My friend and I ordered them anyway and brought them to the bus to eat. So all in all, the tour was good, but if you want a more active visit to the park, you should check other options. If you take this company's tours, the shorter version would be sufficient, and then maybe you could do some exploring on your own.

Sure, you can have your rental car and experience it yourself at your own pace, but why not go around with someone who already knows the way. This tour group goes around in a shuttle bus and gets special bus parking at each stop. Those four or five stops can get crowded! Especially the ones with the restrooms. Prior to each scenic stop, you're given the heads up of what to expect, thrown in with some interesting facts, and tips on what to enjoy. The island is so big, it is just way more convenient this way, to learn and explore one of Maine's biggest attraction. This tour is so well done and people know it; reservations book quickly so plan accordingly!

A must when visiting Bar Harbor!…read more Everything about Oli's is top notch. Ordering our tours was super easy online. Friendly reminders via email were so helpful. We arrived for our first tour super early as we wanted to secure a parking spot (not easy to do in Bar Harbor) and the woman at the Trolley was so kind and make a suggestion to us for how to spend the time before boarding. Our amazing tour guide and driver, Jim, was super personable and interesting, and even helped us find blueberries and took several pictures of my husband and I with the beautiful backdrops of Cadillac Mountain and Jordan's Pond. We had a great bunch on the tour, and can say that this tour was the highlight of our trip. Jim even recommended a great place to eat, and it was so good, we went back again for dinner! But the icing on the cake was again customer service. We booked a second tour for the next day, and woke up to crummy weather, so we decided to head home and skip our tour. As we had passed the cancellation policy time of 24 hours notice, I did not request my money back, but did call and leave a message to let them know we would not be attending, so they wouldn't wait for us. Imaging my surprise when I looked in my email to find they had refunded my money! We would (and will) be touring with them again, and highly recommend them to anyone.

We chose the trolley for its old fashioned charm and a more open view, over taking another popular tour by bus given by a different company. I booked a 2.5-hour tour for my family during our cruise stop - the boarding location was super convenient (55 West St.), right by the tendor port at Town Pier, and the check-in process was organized and a breeze. This tour includes 15-minute stops at three of the most popular sites in the park: Thunder Hole, Jordan Pond, and top of Cadillac Mountain. The stops are too brief for anything other than a quick walk-through to take some photos, but that was enough for my sight-seeing family. The park is huge so most of the time is spent driving and taking in the occasional breathtaking views along the coastline. The first time I visited this park (a much more thorough and extensive, multi-day trip where we camped inside the park and hiked all the most difficult trails that rewarded us with the most stunning views), the majesty of the landscape continuously awed me. There were fewer such moments on the tour due to the route and time crunch, but we were entertained by the excellent narration and stories about the park and the town by our driver Jim, a very knowledgeable local who's quippy to boot. They also offer a 4-hour tour that includes an extra site (Sieur de Monts Spring), with 30-minute stops at each location instead of 15, and is for age 12+ only. If you want to see Acadia park but are limited on time, don't have a car, don't want to deal with the logistics of planning a park itinerary, are mobility-challenged or don't wish to walk/hike too much, or simply like to enjoy the ride and casually explore the park while listening to some informative stories, I heartily recommend Oli's Trolley for your excursion! They're very professional and well run. Be sure to also check out their excellent gift shop nearby (1 West St.) which has a cute and well-curated selection of merchandise that are reasonably priced. Tickets often sell out early - especially during high tourist season and on days when cruise passengers land - so definitely book well in advance!

We started the morning on 1+ hour hike through a spruce forest to arrive at the edge of a cove. Seals were in the water and birds in the distance. We literally didn't see a single other person on the hike which is incredible given that it was high season (August). It was a testament to Rich's knowledge of the island. We did visit Sieur de Monts Spring and did a flat loop walk on the long boardwalk trail which was also fairly deserted given its proximity to the tour buses pouring tourists out in front of the nature museum there. Lastly, we made a visit to a tidal pool where we spent a solid 2 hours in the water looking under every rock for starfish, crabs, sea anemones, sea urchins and snails galore. Rich knew each species and explained the good and the bad (green crabs -- invasive, not good; Jonah crabs - native, good) Rich did all of the driving and it made for a relaxing exposure to Bar Harbor/Acadia that we would've never been able to do as quickly on our own. Well worth the money.
