    Lack of rear brake pads.

This review is specific to the bike rental portion of this store. Pros: location, easy parking, friendly staff Cons: bike quality and poor maintenance Bottom line: go elsewhere if you are looking for a quality and reliable bicycle to ride around the carriage roads. Shoddy bike maintenance creates a safety risk that should make prospective customers think twice. Details: rented several bikes for carriage road cycling. Arrived shortly after opening and several bikes were set aside for our group, but with little to no pre-check. Several bikes had low tire pressure and needed to be inflated, one bike had severely bent pedal crank arms, one bike had a bent wheel that would not rotate cleanly. Took about an hour to get everyone set up and out the door and we were the only group taking off at that time. Most of the ride out of the shop toward carriage roads is uphill, so we didn't notice the second part until later. Of the 5 bikes, 3 had minimal to no rear brake pads. Also, brake cable tension was very different between front and rear brakes. This creates a challenging situation for riders as you have to apply very different pressure when going downhill to avoid over-braking on the front wheel and sending yourself over the handlebars. Several bikes with dirty drive trains and misaligned shifting mechanisms. This meant that not all the gear combinations of these 21-speed mountain bikes is available. Provided this feedback to staff, who were receptive to suggestions and promised to relay to maintenance staff. Overall, this seems like an ice cream/souvenir shop that happens to have bikes, not a serious bike rental outfit. I'd go elsewhere for bikes on my next visit.

The Acadia Outdoor Center was a surprise find for our trip. We stayed very close to the shop and walked over early one morning during our trip. The shop is full of local art and souvenirs and they make a great iced coffee. We decided morning of that we wanted to rent some bikes to ride through Acadia - the rental process was SO easy and the staff were extremely helpful and kind. One of the coolest things we've done in Acadia yet! So happy we found this shop.

What a great spot in Seal Harbor! Fantastic ice coffee. The gelato & ice cream looks delicious too. We can't wait to come back and try it :)

We loved the proximity to the carriage roads vs leaving from Bar Harbor and having to ride on the local roads w cars and kids.

It's a breakfast & lunch cafe that values using locally sourced, fresh ingredients. We stopped for lunch and ordered the Vegplant (V) and Bahn Mi (v) sandwiches. The Vegplant had an eggplant spread, roasted vegetables, and tabouleh on focaccia. The vegan Bahn Mi had tofu, pickled vegetables, greens, miso spread, and cilantro on a baguette. Both sandwiches were excellent and we ordered a couple of iced chais--they were house made and among the best in Maine. It's counter service, and the patio seating was just what we were looking for on a warm summer day in June. We went back the next morning for breakfast and found it to be a little trickier--according to the person behind the counter, the only vegan breakfast item was the hash brown. I had the yogurt parfait--it was as it was described on the menu and just okay--I generally prefer fresh fruit--it had a fruit preserve, which was just okay--maybe it needed more. The hash brown was made of shredded potatoes and was what you would expect. Overall, from a vegetarian/vegan perspective this is a solid 5 star lunch spot, and I love what they're doing here. I just wish they had a vegan option for breakfast.
