Friendly and instructive. It was a great way to tour Acadia on a bike. The Carriage paths that thy suggested were great. We would highly recommend this business.

We stumbled upon this place after the bike excursion on our cruise ship was sold out. I'm very glad we did because the experience and value was far superior to what we would've otherwise experienced. We opted for the 4-hour package and that was a perfect amount of time to ride around Acacia. Jonathan provided a detailed map and explained how to navigate the park. It was beautiful, serene, quiet, and exhilarating all at the same time. Much of this ride is on 1-way roads and the vehicles we shared the pavement with were all very considerate of us bikers. The ride has numerous grade changes and it was easy to upshift and accelerate on the hill climbs with the e-assist. Also, parking was a breeze compared to the many vehicles that were jockeying for parking spaces. We took our time and completed the loop in about 3-hours (including a stop for lunch at Jordan Pond). The bikes were comfortable, fast, and easy to ride. This was our first experience with e-bikes, and I also ride a Harley so my learning curve was not as steep as my wife's. Just the same she caught on quickly and agreed that this experience was awesome. Suggestion; if you've never ridden an e-bike before take some time to get acquainted in a safe area before you hit the streets. We found a nice parking lot nearby and that really help my wife to learn the ropes.

We were cautious after reading a couple more recent reviews, but everything went very well. Jon was friendly and flexible when we wanted to move our time up a couple hours. His instructions were thorough and suggestions helpful. He seemed genuinely concerned that we have a good time. Upon our return he asked if the bike were in good shape and I mentioned one thing he might like to check. Overall a great experience. The beautiful day helped of course. Don't let the sun fool you though. It's cold!! Gloves, scarves and lined pants were important in making our ride enjoyable.

Because I was the organizer of the ride, I insisted (pestered) them to reserve their bikes online, which they did. We arrived the morning of the ride and there were several staff members outside ready to help renters. They were friendly and quickly set up my buddies on their bikes. I should mention that they rent Cervelo Asperos (my bike too) and Trek Checkpoints - both really good gravel bikes and perfect for the Carriage Roads (frankly, a bit better than needed on those tame roads). With everyone set up, we started off. This is where the shop shined. For whatever reason, my derailleurs were not working, and I had just charged them up a couple of days ago. Even though I was riding my own bike, I went back to the shop and asked if they could give me a quick charge-up. One of the mechanics (Shawn) instead, put the bike on the stand and started fiddling around with it. Meanwhile, the shop owner took me around the shop and showed me his collection of Cervelo bikes (awesome! He also does Ironman Triathalons). Meanwhile, Shawn figured out that a wire had worked loose while I was bringing my bike up to Acadia. He saved the day (I do NOT want to ride the Carriage Roads on one gear). No charge, and we were on our way. Generally great folks at the bike shop, and they rent real gravel bikes that you can ride with verve. I can't recommend this shop enough.

Chaotic from start to finish…read more The rental process alone should have been our warning sign. Their online cutoff is 2pm the day before, which means you have to call-fine, except the woman who answered never called us back. We had to chase her down twice just to confirm a reservation. We arrived at 12:50 for a 1pm pickup and stood there watching the one staff member slowly process an entire family who was renting bikes for the next day on our time. The guy who eventually got us our bikes moved like he was underwater. Directions? He handed us a map that would challenge a cartographer and told us to "turn at the thing that blinks." That was the landmark. The blinking thing. We missed a turn. My husband's bike was mechanically broken. He came back with mud splattered across his backpack, shorts, and hair. And the e-bikes if you've rented an e-bike anywhere else in your life, do not expect that here. These things have less power than a child's ride-on toy. I'm not exaggerating. There is no assist. There is no joy. Unprofessional, disorganized, and a complete waste of a half day in a place where you have limited time and actually want to have fun. Skip it.

There were 4 tall sections of socks and with that many overwhelming options there was no way someone trying to catch the ship back was going to be able to sift through each item. When I went back I asked if there was another staff member that actually cared about customers to personally show if there were socks that could help. She gave me a blank look and after a while called for "Nate". Nate then said sorry we just have regular socks and can't really help unless you want shoes. 1 star is too good for this overpriced store.

When I visited the store in early June it was packed to the gills with merchandise. I wasn't in need of anything but I was certainly impressed with their merchandise and the many great brands they carry like Toad & Co., Prana, Smartwool and Darn Tough. The shoe and sock section was particularly impressive. If you take the bike path across the peninsula, be aware that it is a heavy gravel path with some steep winding curves and downhills. Even as experienced cyclists, we decided to walk that part. There are 2 restaurants on the loop but unfortunately both were closed on Mondays. However we found another restaurant once we returned the bikes. It was a great day.
