Tried for two days to buy a car listed in their used car inventory. It was exactly what we wanted. I said once that was verified, I'd make a deposit and be there next week to pay balance and pick it up. The one thing we wanted to verify was that it did have heated front seats. Two days. Four promises to look at the car to verify and call me back. Managers. Line sales person. Phone person. And not one call back. The last person I spoke to even said they did not take deposits on used car inventory. Really? NOW that comes up? Seriously? It is a 7 hour drive to pick up the car and they won't promise to "hold" it. As they say in NY, fuggeddaboudit. Hence the one star, and they barely deserve that. My theory? I used to come here for basic maintenance like oil changes, coolant replacements. This time however I decided to replace brake pads in my daughter's Mazda due to significant milage and some error messages on display in hope to be serviced by professionals. Dropping off my car at 9 am I received it only at noon of the next day! Moreover, in 3 days my daughter hardly avoided collision after brake pedal vent down to the floor without resistance and she was forced to park car at the closest area to stay off road. Later it was moved back to the shop by tow truck. Spills from rear wheel confirmed negligence in performing of this very basic but highly responsible job. It took them one more week to investigate and finally fix it again but I'm not sure about quality and will stay away from their expensive and dangerous service. read more

I bought a car there with my ex-husband which I was awarded in the divorce, he got the truck (I bought the car, he was unemployed for 5 years). I believe he's been going through my car with a spare key. I remember the car came with 2 keys, so does my daughter, but he only gave me one when he gave me the car and told me I was crazy. I called the dealership asking if they kept record of how many keys came with the car when I was sold and they said yes. I asked for information on my car and they refuse to get back to me, I've called multiple times. It should not be a privacy issue as I own the car and am happy to provide proof plus I think a lot of this is supposed to be public info. And the best I can get out of Island Toyota is repeated hand-waving and a claim that this is a problem with all new Toyotas that they sell. I went to Island because they are the dealer listed under the Costco Auto buying program in the area. Having visited a few Toyota dealerships Island is by far the most pleasant car dealership experience I had. The good experience is due mostly to my sales person Ibrahim. From the moment I walked in Ibrahim was pleasant to deal with and very helpful. He showed me a printout of the Costco pricing for a car they had in stock but unfortunately it didn't have all the options I wanted. After two hours (test drive included) we agreed on a price for my trade in and the price for the new car. Unfortunately because what I wanted was not in stock it would have to be located. I was told I should have the car by the end of the month which was a week away. A week went by and nothing could be located. I soon found out the car with the options I wanted was already hard to find but with my color choices next to impossible. So I asked Ibrahim about something Island had in stock with the options I wanted but in a color that wasn't one of my choices. He got back to me with a price I could not turn down. During the week whenever I texted Ibrahim for an update I would always get a response quickly. There are two reasons why I didn't give Island five stars. 1) I felt I should've been informed beforehand what I wanted in the colors I wanted was extremely hard to locate. 2) Prep for delivery to customer. In the rush to prep my car for delivery parts of the white plastic they cover the car for transport in was left on the roof. The rubber floor mat for the driver side was not locked in place and the cargo mats were sitting in the back not installed. Also I later found two bags of plugs for anti-rust in the glove box that says to install before delivering the car to the customer. I was told the dealership never installs these and just to throw them away. A quick Google search has plenty of people complaining their dealerships didn't bother installing them either. But as far as I'm concerned if Toyota didn't want them installed they would not waste the money to make them and put them in the glove box of every vehicle. So I just took take care of it myself. Both sales and service are dishonest and unprofessional. I strongly recommend going elsewhere. This company has zero regard for customers' time, or money, and simply does not follow through on anything. Their number one priority appears to be volume and they do not care about or value customers. Read on if you wanna know how I've come to this conclusion. I bought a RAV4 in 2019, and the Polish guy sales manager (Chris, i think?) basically lied to my face. He offered me a price that "you're not gonna find this for a better deal anywhere." Because I didn't like the price he offered, or his tone, we walked out. After a 5 second internet search, it turns out Island Toyota had the car with the same VIN on its website for $1200 less than what Chris claimed his best offer was. When I pointed this out to him the next day, (in person again, i met with Chris) he claimed he had never spoken to me before. This sales manager (i notice he's quite popular on the reviews here and has a reputation for dishonesty) basically said anything he could to get me to accept a higher price. Then, after negotiating a lower price (mostly by pointing out he had lied to my face) and test-driving the car, I completed paperwork to come out to my new car, only to find that they had actually taken the floor mats out of the car I had just test driven (to save a few bucks maybe?). Horrible experience with this dishonest sales department, stay away. As for the service end of things (i most recently tried to get service from them in 7/2021), this place will tell you anything to get you in the door. They simply do not care about your schedule, your concerns, or your wallet, for that matter. And don't expect them to ever call you back when they promise to do so. I made an appointment and specifically asked the appointment booking agent if my car would be seen immediately or if they were overbooked, as my schedule was very busy. I have had several experiences in the past waiting for a very long time. "It's not overbooked, your car will be seen immediately at the appointment time." They assured me that a service consultant would call me if the service i needed was going to take more than a few hours, and they would also call me if anything else arose with scheduling. I show up to find out they're overbooked and can't look at my car until later, and may possibly need to keep it overnight (all for a malfunctioning seat motor). I asked whether there were any notes on my appointment about When I asked the service consultant about why the booking agent would make a representation to the contrary, they said "they're a call answering service in NJ and have no idea what they're talking about." If only they realized customers were relying on their representations to spend their time and money. Because I had prior engagements, the service consultant offered to call me, to set up an appointment time when I could bring my car in and they could arrange for a loaner if it was going to take too long. The service representative (woman with glasses, repeatedly tells everyone she's been working there for 24 years) said someone would call me in 30 to 60 minutes, but nobody ever called. I called the service center and asked why nobody had called me, and the receptionist said she would assure me a service manager would reach out to me immediately. I've been waiting a week and, have yet to receive a call. I'm convinced the only reason gets business is because Toyota gives them their stamp of approval to do recall repairs and they give free oil changes on new cars. I recommend going to a local shop that values their customers. read more

Wow. I drove from Long Island to test drive a Ford Explorer. It was alright but I saw a Toyota 4runner that was more my style. While we were test driving the vehicle the salesman, Erick, quoted me "high 20s". We sat down to discuss the price and suddenly the price was 34,000+. Fine, that's more market value for this vehicle anyway but they wouldn't budge AT ALL on the price, not even a few hundred dollars, so I left disappointed. Over the course of the next THREE WEEKS I called 3 times and Erick would not return my call. I left my number with Brittany, the online sales consultant, multiple times. I've been dropped while being transferred to the sales team three times. I've never dealt with a more defunct sales team than this. They really struggle at the most basic levels of customer service. At this point in time the 4runner I want to buy is still for sale but I can't even get ahold of them. How they sell any car is beyond me. Steer clear of this dealership. read more

Quite possibly the worst dealership ever. Here's what happened: My wife and I decided to quickly stop in to look at a vehicle, while on our way to celebrate our wedding anniversary. After a test drive and hours of waiting, they gave us a great price and we decided to lease the car. At that point, even though our plans were ruined due to the time spent in the dealership, we were ok with it, since it was new car day. Then as we were waiting for the paperwork they hit us with it. The bait and switch. Suddenly they couldn't offer the price they had offered and we agreed on (and I signed a buyer's contract for). It would have to be a higher price. We angrily left. It gets better. I get a call from a manager the next day asking how our experience was. I told him what happened, and a few more calls back and forth over the next couple days, he said they would honor the original deal. He would call me back. It took him days to call me back, and when he finally did, the car we wanted was no longer available. He apologized and said he'd call me in about a week when they expect another one in. It's been over a month now. All along the way, a relationship rep kept calling and was mortified about what happened. When I informed her that the manager never called me back, she said she would personally call me back that same day after getting to the bottom of this, that was over a week ago. On 8/16/2021 while my car was being serviced I came across island toyota dealership. I was thinking about upgrading to an suv or a top trim luxury vehicle. While browsing around I came across an avalon I liked and I fell in love. I even thought about test driving it and buying it that same day! Then I was approached by a salesman by the name of baha. I thought he would've assisted me in narrowing down my choice. Instead he was very dismmive and he even referred me to the used car lot across the street. I'm so Frustrated... 4 (yes, you read it right.. FOUR) Hard Pulls on Credit History. And that's not all. 1. I found 3 Toyota Ravs there for around $17k. None of them was available (I scheduled test drive for one of them). 2. Toyota Camry XLE Hybrid they showed me had a bump. So then dealer showed me a good one Toyota Camry SE 2015 for $15 995 with 34k miles. I checked inside/out, everything was great. They ran credit check on Friday. 3. Now. I was need to come by on Monday (they had Sales Day this day), but they called me and were unable to tell me if I was Approved. And the dealer was out of office (although he told me he will contact me on Monday). I received call from George (an Owner), who apologized and assure me he will make me Happy (yeah...) Nightmare begins here.... 4. Tuesday. Before getting to Finance office, I did a test drive on Camry, all good, but I found a Scratch on surface. Passenger seat. Above airbag location close to front window (around 6 inch long). 5. Finance "Nice" Guy.. ALI. My down payment $1800 ($2100 in total with trade in) Ali tells me I approved for 13% Apr. by Wells Fargo Bank. it's $365-375/month. It was under my budget, and I was looking to discuss a price and terms. I mentioned about scratch to get some discount. Ali. He gave me 500$ off (looks fine right? Nice guy.. gaves me discount $500.. Why I'm so bad to them?!) And he can make it $325/month. (72 months term) I told him, I was thinking about (after my calculations), $250-275... maximum around $300/month. Then Ali calls me a CHEAP GUY. Seriously?!?! How damn Unprofessional is it?! I'm Not Cheap, and Not Fool to pay for $16000 car $23500 (over pay 7500 +2100 of down payment). Also, remember 13% APR? Let's do a math.. and $365/month will show you it's 15% APR! (Don't tell me about current and yield APR. If you say 13%.. you have to stand for it.. 13%) I asked Ali, What about Capital One bank.. they are authorized with Capital One (it's how I found them). Ali tells me he was unable to reach them. I decided to pass for now, take a day-two to think about it. NOW... At morning.. I receiving an alert on my Credit Score.. 4. F-O-U-R Hard pulls. Credco, Toyota, CAP ONE, Wells Fargo. I called CAP ONE, asked them if Toyota Island Reached them day before.. and .. THEY Reached them, and I was APPROVED for 11.16% APR. How do you like it?! I'm receiving a follow up call. Explaining them a Problem. And George (an Owner) calls me back. Trying in beginning to push on me (with you have Bad Credit.), but after my Story, he tries to resolve that case. He guarantees me 11.16% APR and $260/month x 72 months terms. ($2500 discount) By the end, I decided to drop a case. That Camry Not Toyota Certified, and I didn't want to get a risk, even car was really nice (except for a scratch). CONS: 1. Never Deal with Finance there. 4 Hard Pulls. Your Credit will be destroyed. 2. Poor, unprofessional and rude financing service. A lot of LIES. 3. Misleading Advertising. (none of 3 Toyota Ravs was available. We went to buy a car from this place, and instead of being polite and explaining us all the options and answering our questions, Anthony and his manager Jimmy were really nasty, their answers were very rude, each question was answered in a way as if we asked them something outrageous. And the questions were, for example, what was their rate of financing, what was a difference between different but similar models, etc. The way they spoke to us, even the way how Anthony greeted us the moment we walked in (it was the second visit in a few months) was like they didn't want us there. Sure enough, we left without a car even though we were going to buy it this time for sure (sadly we had our second car broken yesterday so we were really pressured to buy it). There are not many times that I could say I had a pleasant transaction in a dealership, but at Island Toyota, I have to say was the best. The sales person was not pushy , provided me with the same sale price of a comparable vehicle and without any of the back and forth haggling. There were no excessive BS fees like at Manfredi before them and even the finance department was quite a pleasant experience. They will continue to earn my business with this experience.
