I am so pleased with the service that I received from Henry, Oscar, Chris and Sebastian. I reached out to Chris who went to work right away on getting me what I wanted, I went to the dealership and his coworker Sebastian was very helpful by showing me a few cars until I saw one that I was happy with. I went in the following day and Henry again took me for another test drive and explained everything I needed to know about my car, I am very happy. The car is great! The post-sale "upsell" is nightmarish and they never stop contacting you, even after you reach out to at least 5 people there including the sales manager, Greg. Today is 6 years since I bought my Subaru Crosstrek. As I said, the car is great and we love it. Today they sent me another text basically celebrating the anniversary of my purchasing the vehicle. Prior to that some random woman reached out to me via text asking if I was selling my car and "if I could come in today". Huh? While the upsell has gotten better these last few years, for the first 1-2 years after I purchased my car the unnecessary contact these people initiated was ridiculous! If I was looking to buy another car (and I'm not), knowing how these people are post-sale, I would not buy from them. I've purchased a lot of cars in my lifetime and Island Subaru is at the top of my Annoyance Factor list. If I was just providing a review of the actual car -- it would be 5 stars down the line! Love my Crosstrek. However since the review should be all encompassing (the car and the company), it's minus 2 stars for the aggressive post-sale upsell. Calm down Island Subaru. Stay away! They not only lied to us and had us drive 2 hours out of our way to come see cars that they didn't have, But they also are charging an extra 20% over the MSRP. Apparently it doesn't matter if they lie to you about what inventory they have because that's "how they get you in the door". This was the most horrendous and sleazy sales experience we have ever had. We left immediately. We ended up buying a car from Another Subaru dealership that was more honest an hour later. Hands down the best service I have ever received in a very long time! That being said, I scheduled an oil change and an inspection to be done on my Subaru Forester. I was having problems with my right-side passenger door and was told that I had pressed the child safety button! How crazy is that! But I wouldn't have known that had it not been for my amazing Subaru Service Manager "Besa Grajqevci!" To be honest, she was absolutely amazing! What an amazing professional! What can I say about her that I won't be able to fit in this review? Well, everything was positive! She actually made me feel like a valued customer! She was a true professional, who greeted me with a smile, and made me trust her from the moment I met her! What an amazing personality she has! What really surprised me was her amazing salesmanship, her constructive feedback with regard to what I needed, based on my needs was excellent! In addition, from a teacher's point of view, she was the perfect example of success! I felt that way because she was truly happy at what she does! She was happy to educate me on my car and what I could do with regard to upgrades and possible car choices further down the road. I was so pleased with my experience that I would definitely purchase another Subaru again! And I have owned luxury cars before. More specifically, I have owned BMWs and I never got the golden treatment that I received at Subaru! And my car which is my Forester is literally a tank! Clownworld. Went in to see a 2022 Mercedes Sprinter with just over 6000 miles. $175 paperwork fee, $500 Registration and temp tag fee and then a $3495 " Prep fee". The oil isn't even dirty yet. What are you "prepping" for $3500? They are prepping your wallet to be light... Typical bait price to get you there, then the nonsense. Oh and the negotiation they will take off $300 to $400. So the total was about $64,4xx and they will drop it to $64,1xx. Less than 1 % off? People fall for this? Furthermore just to put this into a mathematical perspective if you are buying say a $2000 instrument or piece of furniture or what have you, that is like the seller saying listen I will take off $14. read more

As always Besa at Island Subaru Service goes above and beyond to assist me with my car's service needs. I came in last Wednesday because I had trouble opening the rear, right-side passenger door! I thought to myself that I just got this car! It's a gorgeous, black Subaru Forester. How can I have problems with it so soon? But to my embarrassment Besa showed me that my fears were unfounded. That all I had to do was look at the lip of the rear passenger door and see that there's a small switch. Hardly noticeable if you weren't looking for it, but it clearly states "Child Safety!" Wow! I felt so idiotic because according to Besa, she said that with a flip of the switch the car locks the door and your kids can't fly out because in other cars (other makes and models of other car manufacturers) the cars have the child safety button to the left of the driver. Who's to say that you accidentally place your arm there and press it by accident? That would be a tragedy waiting to happen! So again, thank you Besa! You run the facility like a clock and I appreciate your kindness and professionalism each and every time I go, which is truly once in a while. That's because no car manufacturer is better than Subaru when it comes to safety and a fantastic driving experience! read more

My original review is below. However, Island Subaru contacted me and made right on the ProPack situation. I'm giving them 4 stars now. -------- Original review: Beware of the Pro Pack scam here! Negotiated what seemed like a reasonable deal for a Crosstrek and a fair deal for my trade in with a salesperson here. However, just when I thought we were done, salesman pulls out some bs that the car comes with a "pro-pack" worth $1200 installed. Ugh, I saw this bs before from a NJ Honda dealership (Planet Honda) and spent 3 hours negotiating their $900 pro-pack to $0. At Subaru $0 wasn't an option. Here's what the pro-pack includes: - door edge guards worth $20 at most - pin stripes worth $10 and look ugly - nitrogen filled tires (really?) - free replacement tires if damaged Anyway, negotiated this down to $260 bucks but really this is a complete scam and I should have paid them $0 like I did at Honda. Now to finance which went fine bc I have great credit and know how to say no to extended warranties. Not sure how this would have gone for others. Long story short, they'd get 4 stars if it weren't for the pro-pack scam. read more

Traded in a 2014 Forester for a 2020 and couldn't be happier. It took a bit or back and forth emailing with James about the trade-in to get them the information they needed and then they were very responsive to the questions I had about the different models. We scheduled a time to come in, test drive it, they checked over the trade in and did all the paperwork to switch the plates to the new car. Donna was great to work with in person and showed us all the great updates. Very pleased! Despite all the restrictions and precautions they're taking due to COVID, the process was smooth and easy, we felt safe and love our new car. read more

Poor customer service. Do not prefer for Certified pre-owned. I went at 11 am and came back 8 pm. I bought the car but will never go back to this dealer again. I liked SUBARU a lot but I would suggest no one to go to this particular dealer. They add lots of hidden charges and fees and you end up paying extremely high. read more

Just bought a 50th anniversary WRX STI here. Sales team (Andrew) along with Sales Manager, Team Leader, and Finance was awesome. From start to finish was a great experience. No pressure, very knowledgeable, and extremely efficient team made the experience really great for my son and I. Took me through their inventory, dealer specials on some nice 2017 BRZs, gave me options to build my own and order, and took me through the inventory which included the 50th anniversary edition which I just couldn't pass up. Gave me a very fair value for my trade in and were very good about honoring true car pricing to make the overall transaction efficient and fair. Financing was very quick, no hard push to sell extra warranties, and understood what I wanted and didn't try and push other agendas which I greatly appreciated. My second Subaru and you can be sure I'll be back for more. We leased a car from this dealer. We were very cautious about ANY dealership, but this company went out of their way to help us! The first car we chose wouldn't arrive until the end of the month! Our sales rep, Isaiah, went above and beyond to find us a car that would be ready sooner! Then we were taken into the "Finance Zone" normally the part dreaded by buyers! We were completely surprised by how Mr. Benavides congenial attitude was. He walked us through the process, showing us so many different allowances that were available! This is for Island Subaru's service department. My husband took my Outback in to get serviced to include an oil change Monday. Friday my light indicating the oil level is low came on. Now, my car is very new, less than 30k miles. It does not burn oil. Took the car back to the service department and sure enough it was a quart low. A QUART. Valuable lesson learned here I will always check all of the fluid levels before departing a service place. Yes, they put more oil in; but this should not have happened. I should not have had to take 20 minutes out of my day and late to pick my daughter up from day care because they can't pay attention to details. read more

The sales team at Island Subaru is fantastic. Their service department is another story. I've had to go in 3 times. Once for a recall and twice for an oil change and NY inspection. EVERY TIME, I've had to go back because they forgot to do something and one time the customer service was horrible. This last time they forgot to do the inspection. When the service department call to see how my appointment was I told them I thought the inspection wasn't done. I was told she would look into it and get back to me. Two days later I still haven't heard anything, so I call and sure enough it wasn't done. It's seems they have have a few incompetent people working for them making me sure I well never buy another car from them. read more

My husband and I bought our new car here in June. Our sales said he is always here for us. However, the truth is not like what he said. I bought a $1150 maintenance plan which is valid through North America at Island Subaru but was charged $108.76 when I had 6000 miles service at Koeppel Subaru. Koepplel Subaru said that Island Subaru didn't put maintenance plan into Subaru system. So I think it's Island Subaru's responsibility to help me get my money back. I have visited Island Subaru in person, also contacted sales for 2 or 3 times. And it's been almost a month, I didn't get refund and Island Subaru can't tell me when I can get refund. And it turned out the sales gave me an invalid number and asked me to follow by myself. I don't think it's the right attitude toward your valued customer. read more

I am not satisfied with the level of service that I received at Island Subaru. In fact, I would go out of my way to avoid this service location. I initially went in to get my brakes checked. They were squealing at every opportunity and I was legitimately scared of driving. The advisor acknowledged the problem and even recommended fixing it - at a cost of over $300. The car is under a year old and still under warranty. I was told that I do need the front brake pads changed but the warranty will not cover it. They lied and said that I had over 3mm left. However, I went to another dealership to get a second opinion and what do you know - the brake pads actually have under 1mm left and the replacement of the brake pads is not recommended, but required and will of course be covered under warranty. I understand trying to make a buck by not honoring a warranty on the leased car, but this is the last think I would expect from an official Subaru service department. Instead of fixing the brakes, I was pressured into buying two new filters for almost $200. If it wasn't for the other dealership, I would simply avoid Subaru for my future cars and service needs. Avoid Island Subaru at all costs as you will have to pay out-of-pocket for all warranty covered repairs and will be pressured into spending hundreds before getting your car back. read more

I have a 2017 Ford Escape with 22,000 Miles on it in Excellent - New Condition with no Accidents on it, I did my homework i had been to several other Dealerships so i Know what the Trade in Valve is. I was Blown away when i was offer $6000 less than what the car was worth. Be careful People They say they will run a Carfax for the Trade in Value, but do not base there Trade in Valves off that, I ran my Car fax before i left the House and the Trade in Price was $6000 more than what was offered. When i confronted the Salesman on why theirs a $6000 Difference from his Car Fax Trade in Valve and Mine " He said that " He received this Pricing Trade in " Guesstimate " from their Used Car Manager " and did not base it on the Car Fax Trade in Values. This location is horrible, no parking at all...left waiting sitting on uncomfortable folding chair...Subaru too full of themselves to allow each dealership to have a Ascent at their location .they send one car from dealership to dealership for day and you have to wait for appointment to see it...Absolutely ridiculous. These guys want to rob you cause they can.Wife went in to buy a new car and after much pushing they finally let her see the window sticker (MRSP), after which they tacked on another 2,000. When asked for the explanation of the extra 2.000. , they told her because they can.Needless to say we went to Jersey and got our new car several thousand cheaper for a model with MORE features.
