Here's the story. I'm an owner of a 1989 Jeep Cherokee Limited now for 19 years, being the third owner with 109,633 miles. The brakes failed on the vehicle on November 7, 2018 on Staten Island. I went to, and believed was my trusted auto mechanic for three years on the Island. They diagnosed the hard braking pedal to the ABS. Being that the car is 30 years old, finding a part would be challenging to say the least. They kept the vehicle for 4 weeks in their gated lot until after a week or so I inquired to progress made. None. I was told to go online and search for the ABS assembly, found a site that said they had the part, ordered it and had it sent direct to the mechanic... After the passage of another week, I inquired and was told it was the wrong part for another vehicle. I sent it back, paid for shipping and received a refund some weeks later. The vehicle was looted in the gated outdoor garage, the battery went dead as the glove compartment door was left open and the light trickle drained the battery. No one at the garage even noticed until I showed up to start the car and inquire to the status of any progress. Nothing. I took the car and decided to try another mechanic that a friend used. That mechanic bleed the brakes and determined it was the brake master cylinder. Now the brakes went soft. Two attempts to get the part failed, sending the wrong component. The mechanic recommended getting rid of the vehicle. I had intentions of donating it, and at this point, that was now the goal... Before doing so, I walked around the neighborhood to give it one last try and found Island Car Care. I explained the situation and what I was going through with the vehicle, and they suggested to bring the Jeep in to them. I did. Megan, Danny, Marcus and the rest of the crew with perserverance and diligence exhausted every lead until they found what was ultimately the problem, which was the brake power booster. The part was found in New Jersey after some two weeks of trying. After the Christmas and New Year Holiday, the Jeep is fixed and I have the red wagon back for a while longer. They were courteous and considerate in my specific case and even worked with me by giving a discount knowing that if all failed, I would pay for their services rendered and give the car up for donation. Island Care Care is appropriately named. They care and go well above and beyond what any mechanic shop that I have ever experienced in the 19 years owning this vehicle. In an age and society where you don't always get what you pay for in quality and personal attention, they treat people like family. They are BBB rated and ASE certified and I can't say enough for the care and servive they've rendered on my behalf. To anyone reading this review, I highly recommend Island Car Care and their AAA service towing and battery service, both of which I've used. Before I started this review, I read through some of the others on here. Strangely, I had almost the same issue as someone else who gave a review. Only my experience was quite different. My car broke down on Bay Street. I was a little nervous, as I had my child in the car with me. I walked in to Island Car Care and was greeted with "don't worry, we'll help you any way we can". With that, they went to look at my car and could not get it started. Therefore, Danny and 2 other Gentlemen (sorry, I'm bad with names) proceeded to push my car the half block to his shop. He took a look at it, told me what I needed and promised that he would do everything to get it back to me as soon as possible and at the lowest possible charge. Obviously, because of past experience, I was very skeptical. BUT, as promised, my car was fixed the very next day and it was less than I had thought. I was charged only for the part, not for Labor. As it turns out the gentleman who drove me home, (Yes, they even gave us a ride home) listened to me worry (out loud) on the phone, that I was on a budget (as a single mother) and may not be able to have it fixed right away. They never met me before but were willing to help me out!!!! I will never forget it, and as promised, I will pay it forward. I will never forget how they calmed me down, which made is possible to keep my daughter calm. Awesome shop, awesome work and even better people!!! I was on the Belt Parkway not far from the Verrazano Bridge when my brakes pretty much gave out on me. I looked up a close shop in Staten Island to bring my car, they put some brake fluid in and told me they don't know how long before they can look at my car and if they will be able to even fix it that day. But they were able to tell me the problem. I buy a large bottle of brake fluid and decide to try going home, knowing that it's dangerous and my vacation is ruined. I get up the road go to stop and know I'm not driving home. I pull over call AAA to tow me back to LI. They call me back tell me they have a local AAA shop who will look at my car for me quickly, was I interested? Not a lot of options I say sure. They sent me to Island Car Care Corp on Bay Street in Staten Island. Pat the mechanic looked at my car almost immediately told me what the problem was, how much it would cost and when he could get me out by to really start my vacation. Inside were a few AAA drivers who kept the conversation going and one even had me follow him up to the highway to where I needed to go. In the end I left there with a smile on my face, feeling like there are nice people left in the world and bonus the repairs didn't cost me anything out of the normal. So if you are ever in the area and need repairs look them up. They turned a complete bad experience into such a positive one. Just had my first experience with Island Car Car and it is was an excellent one. To my surprise this morning, I found out my car was unable to move forward. I called AAA and Danny from Island Car Care was at my vehicle within a half hour. I was nervous about using a new mechanic but was immediately put at ease. Danny was professional and pleasant. He tried to fix the problem on the spot before immediatley towing it; however, the e-brake was stuck and the car had to be towed to the shop. Danny was able to resolve that issue and also discovered a rear brake wheel cylinder leak which could have lead to a dangerous condition. He took the time to explain the issue and why the repair was necessary. I was given a reasonable price and agreed to the repair. Upon completion I was shown the old and new parts. This made me feel comfortable that the repair was necessary and done correctly. Danny and the staff were caring and professional. I was also relieved that Island is an authorized AAA automotive repair shop and the parts have a 2 year warranty. I recommend Island Car Care and will be using them again. Upon getting off Verrazano Bridge, I recently called AAA because I needed a jump. Island car care's towing company; island wide towing, arrived with in 1 hr & 30 minutes. The manager/driver and mechanic that came to my aid was super friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. Turns out I ended up needing a new Alternator and to charge the battery all together and was driven to Island Car care on Bay Street by the mechanic with the aid of an auxiliary battery, they brought along. I met with the manager/owner, Danny, who assured me that my car would be up and running in no time, by next day no later than 5 PM and I can continue on my road trip. The receptionist/ counter girl helped me get a hotel reservatjon and car service. They was great. The FJ Cruiser was ready by noon next day. I can tell they genuinely cares about the quality of service they provide. The next time something goes wrong with my car and I happen to be in the neighborhood, I will be sure to bring it back to him. I can trust that they're honest and know what they're doing. read more

I called this place for maintenance inspection because front of my car was making weird noise. They told me to bring the care next day did the inspection also didn't charge anything for the inspection and gave me a quote for only things that needed a repair. Unlike other place where I had it inspected first told me that my car needs number of things replaced and will take full working day to repair the car. Island Car Care repaired my car and gave me back in 2 hours, and the price was 3 times less then what was I told from the first place I went too. I also wanted to mention one more thing that the employees work here are very helpful when you call them to ask any question or make an appointment for service. I really appreciate your service guys. I can't recommend Island Car Care highly enough! I have a very old car, but the service they gave me has it running like new. I've had continuous problems every winter because it is a diesel car. Island Car Care worked on it and thought we had it fixed; when I still had problems they immediately retrieved the car and worked tirelessly until it was resolved. It has been working like a charm ever since. Living in manhattan it's difficult to get my car serviced at a good rate and good quality. I was referred to Island Car Care from AAA approved repair shop website and seeing that I had to go towards Staten Island I took my car there for service. Had oil changed, brakes changed and control arm bushings. The work was done within one day, dropping the car of in the AM and completed by 6pm. I'm extremely happy with the work and the car feels like new. 2011 LR4 with 80k miles. I highly recommended Island auto care to anyone who needs car service and wants good deal. I was driving on the I-278 and my tire indicator light came on and I started panicking. I got off the expressway and started driving and I was very pleased to find a AAA place on Bay St. As I am a AAA member I automatically was at ease. When I pulled in and spoke to who I believe is the manager, forgot his name....but he put me more at ease and assured me everything will be alright and that I will be back on the road real soon as I had a long drive back to up to Albany, NY to meet family members. I brought car in to get breaks done the guys drove with me in the car and told me I didn't need breaks which was very honest of him an they were super nice. I came home told my friends how nice they were. 2 days ago my engine light came on they called me through the process explained to me even though I had no idea what it's was and the price was great. Excellent service and pricing! I needed to get my brakes checked and my tires replaced before the winter. I was a little nervous because as a woman I always feel like there is the possibility of being taken advantage of. However, my experience at Island Car Care was amazing! I used Island Car Care to change tires on my Honda CR-V. I was not only serviced quickly, but also advised on many choices of tires and which ones might suit my needs the best. I ended up with affordable yet good quality set of new tires, which where replaced while I was waiting. Since the car was on the lift the mechanic inspected other elements of the car to make sure everything is in good condition. They do care about cars and their owners there. Thumbs Up. read more

Excellent work with a 1 year AAA warranty. My SUV wasn't working for several years and had many problems. . They replaced fuel tank, engine. A/C compressor, radiator, tires, brakes, fuel pump and assembly. Work was done in a reasonable time. It only took three business days to get and replace engine .Now SUV runs smooth. I have always gotten excellent service on my cars, whether they were my very old, used ones or my brand new one. I would never consider going anywhere else for routine maintenance or major repairs.
