Lots of great nice quality hats. The gentleman who helped us was so friendly and showed me how to properly fit my sun hat and even gave us a discount for getting two hats. My white sunhat (UPF50) is well structured, has a removable forehead sleeve that can be washed, and no back so you can sit back without squashing the back brim. They are a little pricier for hats but for the quality it seemed adequate and why not shop small and local! read more

Today Myron and I were on a mission to find some sah-weet polarized glasses so we can enjoy the underwater world better from above. Unfortunately most places on the Vineyard have picked up on this lame "Peppers" brand of shit polarized glasses. Someone in the store Jellyfish suggested I check out Island Trading to get a good deal. Said he'd just got two pairs at a good price. We head right down there and the door was closed with a sign reading "back at _:30" (it was about 12:45 at that point). which was pretty ambiguous. Myron had to leave on the boat so no sunglasses for him. After dropping him at the boat I went back to see if they had re-opened and the owner was in the door, unlocking the place. I asked "are you open" and he said "no I won't be back for another 1/2 hour" and I said "that's too bad, you would've had two sales" (there were other people who were walking away disappointed at the news he wasn't open as well). He says "I'm sure I'm missing a bunch of sales but I have to EAT" (said really rudely/smugly). Here's a tip: Bring your lunch to work or grab a slice at gio's and get your arse back in the shop so you can actually make some profit during this limited tourist season. What kind of merchant takes an hour long lunch break and closes shop in high season in the middle of the afternoon on a hot sunny day? This guy. He wasn't even apologetic, more pissed than anything. The owner was a total dick! Very rude! We were rushing to the ferry & stopped at the front display on the sidewalk and picked up a hat we were interested in & popped into the store & said excuse me real quick, how much for the hat and what size is this? Sorry but we're tryin to catch the ferry & he responds "real quick? That is my DISPLAY hat & it goes back on the display! And its $40. Then when I went to put it back he goes: that's why I should have security! Screw you! You just lost a sale. We would've given you $50 and would've been on our way to the ferry but refuse to shop where theres a dick running the store & being rude to customers. read more
