In addition, they have various other jerk dishes, Jamaican patties, Escovovich and other Caribbean cuisine specialties. I had the rice and peas, an order of cabbage, and a side of plantains to go. Although it was a very busy time of evening (dinner service) with lots of to-go orders, the person taking the orders was very patient and remained calm with everyone, even as things picked up. The ambiance is already set with the dark walls and eclectic vibe of the furniture, but the customers all seemed to pick up on it, too. We all patiently waited for what we knew were about to be some delectable dishes! I look forward to going to Irie Plates Restaurant & Bar every chance I can get. The service was not the best. The gentleman was overly confident for the plates I purchased that day. The chicken was old and dry you can tell by the color and texture. From there this is supposed to be stewed chicken you can see the bottom of the plate it was stewed out there's no gravy. Then having to argue for the gravy that was missing from my plate made the experience even dryer than it started out. The restaurant on whole was ok it was your average Jamaican restaurant. We don't really know much about authentic Jamaican food so we don't have anything to compare it to but we expected the flavors to be a little bolder and thought the jerk chicken would be spicy. The oxtail was very mild and while the jerk chicken had good flavor, it wasn't spicy. We did get the last order of jerk chicken so maybe that affected the quality but it was mostly bone and we didn't get much meat. We also felt it was a little overpriced for what we received. Since we're not familiar with Jamaican food, we can't really say whether it was good or bad overall. It just wasn't quite what we expected.

The accompanying plantains were large in portion size and right on the mark! The one downside to ordering from them is the extensive menu that they offer which ultimately slows them way down! I waited nearly 20 minutes for my food, and while they may say that you're getting a fresher experience, I say that's way too long for a food truck experience! They specialize in wings and soul food classics so of course we went with their top options - wings, collards, Mac and her famous sweet potato corn bread. The wings were MASSIVE, crispy, juicy and had so much delicious seasoning on them. The mac and collards were also delicious but I couldn't get over the wings.
