Fried Whiting Fish Filet, Mac and Cheese, Collard Greens, Cornbread (I tasted it before taking this picture )

Came here for dinner with a friend. Received fast and friendly service. Food was delicious. Was skeptical about trying the cornbread based on other pictures but it was tasty! Ambiance was chill and soulful. Will definitely return!

This has to be the best soul food spot in Winston Salem!! Took a rode trip with my family to support my son Jacobi, he is a football player at Wake Forest. We were looking for a place to eat after his spring game, he suggested Prime Tyme,, this place was great they cook the food when you order it, so it comes out fresh and hot. As you can see by the pics, we order wings and chicken dinner. The Mac & cheese was tasty. The service was great, only one change is the lemonade, it was too sweet, other than that, food was great.

Location is perfect to the university. Ordered fish, wings and shrimp. Took a longggg time to come out and then macaroni wasn't ready so had to substitute for something else. The food was overall tasty. Maybe a hit or miss

This is there Philly cheesesteak don't get... stir fry was good though

Stir fry was good but that is not a Philly cheese steak don't get not a traditional roll even though it's advertised online as one.

Ordered food to go. My dinner was delicious and flavorful. Very very satisfied with my order here. Would definitely return! Not to mention it's black owned!

Priiiiiiiiiime Tyyyyyyyme! No, I'm not talking about my man Deon Sanders! I'm talking about pure, honest, throwback soul food that you used to get years ago! Nobody has done soul food like these guys for probably 30 years as they've had their bad publicity in various parts of the city that ultimately has moved them to the Northside of the city. Located in a building that has housed many restaurants throughout the years and is certainly nothing to look at....but this is soul food and appearance doesn't matter! Prime Tyme has been doing fried chicken as good as anyone for what seems like a generation now! It's simply some of the juiciest and crunchy fried chicken you'll partake in and enjoy! Their Mac is simply to die for as it is so tasty and creamy that whatever they do, they do quite well! The Collards is something I've had from Prime over the years that I simply forgot how good theirs is until last night! My biggest surprise however is their banana pudding cake.....OMG! No words, just try this! Prime Tyme is still in a sketchy area, and it still has a sketchy look, but these are good people that cook the old fashioned way that goes straight from their soul to your soul!!

This food is just as good as can be, but they miss the little things on to go orders. Tartar sauce with fish... no Texas toast at all on the entire orders....one time left off one whole side. But I'll still give them four stars just for the food.

    Holy fried chicken! Wow!

My dogs showed up within a few minutes, cooked very well with a nice amount of chili and topped with sweet coleslaw. It hit the spot and was a bargain at the price. The sides are very small for the price point and my roll was not included. The food could use seasoning. For this place to be so out of the way, it is not worth it for take out as the restaurant does not properly prep for a long drive. There are ways that the food could be packaged to preserve some of the heat. The meat should be wrapped in foil to keep the styrofoam box from making it soggy. The restaurant is quaint but for the price, there are better soul food options. Lack of seasoning and tiny portions are a turn off.

Although it's tucked away in an unassuming business district, this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the warm, inviting space and exceptional service. Everyone made us feel welcome, and the attention to detail throughout our meal was outstanding. We started with the Ahi Tuna appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. It was served over a bed of crisp sliced cucumbers and the most amazing vinegar coleslaw. The combination of flavors was fresh, light, and memorable. Even the warm dinner rolls were outstanding and set the tone for the meal. For our entrées, the meatloaf was everything comfort food should be. It was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, served over creamy mashed potatoes with fresh French green beans. We also ordered the Chef's seasonal Squash Casserole, and it was phenomenal. If it's on the menu when you visit, don't miss it. Milner's way exceeded our expectations: wonderful food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere made for a memorable evening. We will absolutely make the trip back the next time we're in Winston-Salem.

Between excellent service, from the host to the kitchen staff, and being a bright, cheery place decorated in a modern farmhouse feel (only complaint is the HARD seating), we love this place. The food is always delicious and seasoned perfectly with FLAVOR. For the appetizer, the Salad Pizza is absolutely scrumptious and was recommended by our server our first visit here last year. Honestly, it keeps bringing us back. The flavors are incredible. It has feta, mozzarella, topped with organic greens, shaved onions, tossed in a lemon/dijon dressing with shaved parmesan. It's a flavor bomb in the mouth. The meatloaf, is to die for. If you're a meatloaf eater this is for you. It's so tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. Melts in your mouth and the sauce on top is the perfect blend of sweet and savory to top it off. For my two sides this time I chose the fried brussels sprouts and the greens. The greens are always seasoned perfectly and the brussels sprouts were crispy and full of flavor. They tasted even better dipped in my meatloaf sauce so that was a win-win. My boyfriend had the special which was short ribs. For his two sides, he had greens and green beans. The short rib was perfectly tender and absolutely delicious full of flavor and moist for him. The green beans and the greens were also perfect as well full of flavor, just enough fat and butter. It's a great little date spot or a family dinner. They also have outdoor seating covered with umbrellas. There's a bar inside with a TV if you choose to go watch sports and the food here is always on point full of flavor and makes you want to come back and try more things on the menu. You can't go wrong at southern roots.

Everything was delicious, although my partner wasn't a huge fan of the short ribs. The trout and salad were both excellent. The cheese dip was delicious. The sides were a standout, especially the Parmesan spaghetti squash, which I highly recommend. We had to put some extra salt on the sides, but that's purely personal preference. They also had several reasonably priced drink specials, which was a nice surprise. The service was amazing--friendly, attentive, and a big part of what made the meal so enjoyable. Overall, a really solid dining experience, and I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

The ladies who work here are very friendly and helpful, came around a few times to check on me, offered fried side to go with the greens , offered a refill on my sweet tea. Great service! About the food. Probably the BEST FRIED CHICKEN in the area. I really can't judge on that because I haven't sampled other fried chicken in the vicinity but based on my own research of sampling fried chicken all over North Carolina, I feel confident in my assumption. It was fried just right. It was SEASONED. It had a very nice batter that was crunchy and the chicken in the inside was tender and juicy. Every bite was tender and juicy. These ladies should teach a cooking class on how to make fried chicken-to other restaurants. The SWEET POTATOES were perfectly cooked and flavored in butter and cinnamon. You could eat it as a dessert. But not overly sweet. Just right. The GREENS were tender and seasoned perfectly. Greens and fried side with their delicious CORNBREAD could be a meal in itself. The SWEET TEA-perfect! All around, best home cooked food/soul food you can get. I will be back and I highly recommend for true SOUTHERN COMFORT food.

And offer specials each day. Lots of meat options and veggie options. Including salad, which isn't always available in a homestyle southern restaurant. The roasted potatoes that are available only on Fridays were my favorite part of the platter. So flavorful and perfectly seasoned. The Mac n cheese was also very good. Creamy and cheesy. The hush puppies were HUGE and very crispy. Loved them. I ordered along with two coworkers. Coworker one is now in love with this place and wants to order at least once a week. Coworker two ordered meatloaf and said it was quite tasty. Negatives: Be prepared for the salt!!!!! We ordered from here twice. We got the chicken pie both times and it was wayyyyy to salty. The first order I was able to combine with the potatoes and Mac n cheese to make it edible. But the second order, all the sides were salty too and I ended up not being able to finish most of the plate. It was also disappointing because I'd ordered chicken tenders but received the chicken pie instead. While I'm wary of ordering in the future because the food is salty, my coworker loves it and we'll order again. Hopefully I can explore more of the menu and find the perfect dish and come back for a higher rating.

The chicken itself was excellent. It was incredibly juicy, perfectly fried, and had a great crispy coating. My only issue was that the breading felt like it was missing a little something, maybe more seasoning, pepper, or some extra flavor. Growing up with places like Gus's Fried Chicken in Memphis and Nashville hot chicken, I think I naturally expect a little more punch from the chicken itself. The sauce they serve is more of a barbecue style sauce, and while it worked, I personally didn't love it enough for it to carry all the flavor. The sides were a mixed bag. The collard greens were really good and definitely one of the highlights. The coleslaw, though, was way too pepper heavy for my taste. Also, the piece of bread that comes with the meal was honestly not worth the calories. I'd rather see them either upgrade the bread or skip it altogether. One unexpected highlight was the pebble ice from the drink machine. Small detail, but it was awesome and definitely appreciated. Overall, I'd come back and try some different sides because the chicken itself is worth returning for. With a little more seasoning or some different sauce options, I could see this being a 5 star spot.

I just ate the chicken - took 2 bites of the sides - ate the roll and pitched the tray. Coleslaw and potato salad is a personal choice - so could just be me. I hate them.
