Some friends and I visited Island Winery in Hilton Head for the first time today, and we absolutely loved it! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed and laid-back from the moment we arrived. For just $10, we were able to sample six very generous pours of wine--such an amazing deal! Honestly, there wasn't a single wine I didn't enjoy, but the Blueberry wine was definitely my favorite. The seating area was very clean and spacious, with plenty of indoor seating as well as outdoor options. While the winery doesn't offer food, you're welcome to bring your own snacks or charcuterie board, which worked out perfectly for our group. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be returning to sample more wine again. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area! read more

I cannot believe I did not know this place existed on the island! For a very reasonable price of $10 you can sip 6 different wines of your choice. They even allow you to sit or walk around and play a few games on their porch while sipping. The staff is all friendly and knowledgeable too. A few days a week they also have live music which is a very nice addition. So glad this place is on the island... and apparently has been since 2005! read more

The person working on Oct. 15th in the late afternoon was very curt and short. Yes, we arrived 30 minutes before closing. The 1st thing I asked was if we could tast anything. She answered I cannot pour anything after 5pm. She repeated that several times to the point where I finally said "I understand!" I let my husband go to the bar to pick up our pours. We split a 6 glass tasting. He chose 3 and I did the same. She briefly explained to him what she poured but to him only. We were quickly finished well before 5pm. We even found a credit card and she did not thank us for turning it in. We told her it was our Anniversary and we were on vacation visiting the area. Silence. We quickly left. I didn't even want to purchase anything I liked because of her attitude. Won't be back here! read more

They don't taste like the best quality wine I've ever had, but they were good. The prices were affordable and the service was friendly. The ambiance is also casual and warm. Stopped here to do something fun after the beach in the afternoon! Wow, am I blown away. The service was amazing very knowledgeable ladies, the inside was cute and kitschy, and the wines especially the fruit ones were lovely. My mom and I did a tasting of 6 wines which was $10 per person. The lovely lady behind the counter gave us sheets so we could number our pours and tastings. There are public restrooms. There's indoor seating inside and outdoor seating on the patio! If your touring around Hilton Head or in the mood for a wine tasting I highly recommend stopping here!! read more

Adorable and delicious little winery! We decided to visit as we were leaving a brewery and scoped it out. It was a perfect place for a rainy day. It is a very small establishment, nicely decorated and very clean. They have tables with barrels in the back and you just go up to the bar to get your tastings. It was five dollars for a tasting of six. YES!!!! You did read that correctly! I feel like they should charge at least triple of that, because they do give you a decent pour. However, they just like to share with everyone. The bottles are very inexpensive as well. My favorite was the Peach on the beach and then she made a sangria that had brandy in it. It was amazing! Very nice experience, I wish they had a cheese plate to go with it but it is a new place and they are just figuring things out. My DH and I stopped in for wi e tasting. For $10 you get to taste 6 of their wines. The atmosphere was great and we ended up purchasing 2 bottles of wine. 2 ladies poured wines when you approached the bar which was fine. A little explanation with each pour might have been helpful but we did have a printed copy of the descriptions. It was a fun hour and worth the visit while on HHI. read more

Stingy. Stingy with the friendliness and stingy with the wine. No tasting. Period. I was told you had to pay for a flight or buy a bottle. Not welcoming at all. Never had to pay for a tasting. Usually if you want to try a wine or two before purchasing a glass most of the time the tasting room will do their best to find a wine to suit your taste. Not here. I was told to pick something and move along. Previously reviewers had so many good things to say but I really can't. Wine was just ok- warm which is not how you serve a sweet white wine. Inside was dark with high tops. Outside seating is cheap plastic picnic tables which could use a good scrubbing. If you're looking for something to do on the island besides golf and beaching it up, this is one of your few options! It's not a bad one either, especially if you like wine. It's located in a little building on the north part of the island. Looks very industrial, nothing special. The tasting room is pretty small, although they do accommodate and allow tastings in their barrel room if it's too crowded in the front, but it's more of a "get up and serve yourself" if you do that. $5 for a tasting of 6 wines. I'd say at least 1/2 were too sweet for my taste which pretty much determined my tasting. Personally some of the bottles were a little pricey for the quality, but saw several people buying which is great for the winery! The staff was nice but not 100% with it. It seemed like they were a little overwhelmed when it got busy and the one lady was just socially awkward and wouldn't even take a picture of our group or really even carry on a conversation. Neither of them shared much information about the winery, which is always my favorite part learning about the history of the winery and wines. Again nothing spectacular but if you're on the north part of the island and looking for something to do and are a little thirsty, stop on in for a bargain wine tasting! read more

My girlfriend and I stopped into Island Winery during a girl's weekend to Hilton Head and had the best time; it was the highlight of our trip! The winery has such a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere, and the wine was delicious. Laurie and Tom who worked there were so welcoming, knowledgeable and very patient in helping us choose our "wine flight" which was $10 for 6 wines! Wide selection of wines. Many are well done and enjoyable. Unfortunately, we saw the same bottle of Nebbiolo we bought for $23 at the winery in Piggly-Wiggly for $20. On the POSITIVE side, their tasting pours were generous. They also had a special limited-edition Sherry-based hot sauce that was spectacular!! This was our 1st time in Hilton Head and Island Winery gave a us a warm welcome. I really appreciate them taking the proper precautions due to COVID but still creating a fun atmosphere. The various wines were delicious and the tasting portions were pretty generous. My kind of establishment! Everyone was amazing and I learned how to pop a cork with only 2 twists of the corkscrew. Surprised little gem on Hilton Head Island that is a nice venue for wine lovers. Came in for a tasting and decided to try a few of the varieties and had the distinct pleasure of trying the Reisling, Vintners Blend, Harvest White, and the Sea Island White. Overall, I was impressed with the quality and blends of the wine, especially as many of the varieties were based upon muscadine grapes that are native to the region. My favorite was the Harvest White, as it was not as sweet as the other varieties, but still displayed a great body. Although not the very best of the wines that I have tried at a vineyard, this was very, very good and should be a place that you visit when on the island and/or visiting. read more

The wine is good. The staff seemed socially awkward . The woman was standing there staring at me as I tasted the wines. I kept making conversation with her because she was just silently looking at me the whole time. We went there intending to sit down with glasses of wine and a cheese plate. She didn't mention that option and we felt as if we were intruding. I usually buy 12 bottles of wine at a time. Truth be told, we couldn't get out of there fast enough. We only bought 6 bottles. Advice for the winery: 1. When a customer walks in smile at them. 2. When they are deciding what to sample, ask questions if they're having a hard time deciding. (Do you prefer dry/sweet? Fruity? Full body?...) 3. You should also make them feel welcome by asking questions. (Are you from the area? Where are you visiting from? Are you enjoying your stay? How did you hear about our winery?...) 4. Tell customers about your cheese platters and the little room in the back where they can sit and sip. The more comfortable the public gets while in your establishment the more money we'll spend. You may not personally care about people but they should never get that impression from you. When we feel an establishment doesn't care if we frequent them we will go somewhere we DO feel comfortable and appreciated. read more

My husband and I stopped in for the free wine tasting. They offer 6 free tastes per person. I'm more of a red drinker so I choose the Reds. They had two wines made with grapes from California. The Cabernet and the Petite Syrah. They were just ok not bad not great. I lived in California so I am kind of a wine snob. Lol. My husband likes sweeter wines and he really enjoyed the Sangria and the Riesling. We both liked the Pinot Grigio and decided to purchase a bottle to enjoy at home. It was a cute place with a nice barrel room. You can purchase wine by the glass and they also have cheese platters. The service was friendly and you can tell the employees love what they do.
