My sister and I took my mom and 4 of her friends to Butterducks for Mother's Day. I reserved a table in advance and when we arrived everything was set up and ready to go. The staff is always so attentive no matter how busy they are and they were quite busy on this day. Even though there were people standing around for tables, we never felt rushed and spent over two hours, talking, reminiscing and drinking wine. It is nice that they have covered areas for you to sit and partake- even though it was raining that day we never got wet. I love that they let you bring your own food. I brought a charcuterie board and my sister did a fruit tray. They also have charcuterie boards that you can purchase if you would like. The service is excellent, and despite being a small operation in South Georgia, they offer a surprisingly large variety of wines. I visited Butterducks on Sunday, April 7, I was immediately stopped at the entrance by an employee. I was asked if my dog I was carrying in my arms was a service dog. I informed the employee that I'm a combat vet, but he technically was not. The employee informed me he could not come in. She asked if I had anyone with me that could watch him and when I said no, she did offer to hold him outside. I told her "no, I will leave" and did so as quickly as possible. All of this would be fine if I were not in fact a combat war vet. I suffer from combat PTSD, anxiety, and depression and carrying around my dog helps with managing my anxiety, and PTSD symptoms. I'm in the process of training my dog to be my service animal and the employee touched my dog without asking. The employee immediately approaching me at the door and continuously touching my dog while talking, made me very anxious and I wanted to remove myself immediately. I wanted to inform Butterducks of my experience, because that small interaction truly altered my day and week in a negative way. I then checked online for the winery's pet policy, only to find many pictures on social media of Butterducks having many dogs visit both outside and inside where my dog was not allowed. We stopped in here while on vacation in Savannah. The ladies were both friendly and explained their different wines to us. They offer a military discount which is fantastic. As a military family we love to see local business showing their support to all military members. Due to Covid 19, they are not offering tastings but instead you can purchase a bottle of chilled wine and sit out front on the patio and enjoy it. We split a bottle of Reisling and it was refreshing and not overly dry. We purchased 2 additional bottles to take home with us and I can't wait to try them as well. read more

I love this winery so much! I used to visit it when I was in college and after 7 long years, I have come back for a visit! I love dry white wines and my personal favorite is the Viognier. It's absolutely amazing!! I haven't had a wine that tastes like this anywhere else! A close second for me is the Brass Duck White! It's a blend of Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Viognier. You don't get the frills and fancy ness that you get at some wineries but this is a great mom and pop place to check out on the way to/from Savannah. It's about 15 mins from I-16. Bottle prices are great ranging from $17 to $12 for the sweet wines. This place has something for everyone regardless of if you like sweet or dry wines! Check them out! read more

A little off the beaten path, but still within thirty minutes of Savannah, you'll find Butterducks, a cute boutique winery with a WIDE variety of wine. I'm normally a dry red drinker, and the five I tried were good (Malbec, Merlot, cab sauv, a red blend, and Sangiovese). This place knows it's limitations. What the cant grow, they import as whole fruit and make the wine from start to finish. They also had som surprising sweeter options...the blackberry bliss was amazing, as was the chocolate decadence. They have a nice patio to sit and enjoy, along with cheese and meat options. If you're lucky, the owners or their cat will come to visit. read more

I've been here several times over the past couple of years and always enjoy my visit. The owners and staff are incredibly nice people, and are all very knowledgeable about their wines and the wine making process. They are always friendly, outgoing and eager to please. I enjoy the fact that they do different types of wines here. They have more traditional grape wines such as merlot, sangiovese and viognier, along with fruit wines made with blueberries, blackberries and peaches. They also blend grapes and other fruits in some of their wines, creating interesting and tasty combinations. Their chocolate merlot is to die for...I hope it will become available again sometime in the future. If you plan on coming again after your first visit, it is a good idea to join their wine club. You receive valuable discounts. Their wines are reasonably priced and we usually leave with at least a few bottles. I've brought several friends here for their first visit and everyone has had a great time. The items in the shop are always fun, too! We were on a wine and beer crawl on 95 N on our way from Jacksonville to DC (via myrtle beach). This was about 15 mins off 95. The wines are decent. It was our first time trying full fruit wines. We ended up tasting most of their wines and buying a few. The owners are husband (wine maker) and wife are very pleasant to talk to and passionate about this. This was a real treat to visit. We found the staff and ownership delightful. The wines were so good that between 8 of us we carried out nearly two cases of wine. My family was visiting the area from out west and enjoyed this place a lot. I live in the area and am pleased to share with people to try the wines and make a visit to the winery. This was a far contrast to the winery we visited near Statesboro that was a real let down. BUTTERDUCKS rocked the group and the people at the site made it well worth the time.
