Having amazing food here. Look at this! Jamaican food at its best! In Henrietta! You need to come over here and try it at least! Highly recommend...

This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Located on East River Rd. in the Riverton Plaza, is Island Wraps. Not only do they offer delicious wraps (I had the Jerk Chicken wrap with lettuce, pineapple, grapes, scallions and spicy sauce), I also ordered Jerk chicken wings with a side of peas and rice with curry sauce. My husband had the Jerk Chicken Salad and a side of plantains, which he thoroughly enjoyed. The setting was designed by the daughter (an RIT Grad) of the owner and has a very distinctive island flair. This gem is a little drive but well worth it.

My husband and I had date night at Island Wrap! This was our first time going to this restaurant but it won't be our last! Restaurant has a great island vibe with beautiful bright colors and caribbean playing in the background. Our meals were delicious! I had the ackee & salt fish special which included rice and beans, cabbage and a side fried plantains. My husband had the stew goat special which included rice and beans, cabbage and fried plantains. Also excellent customer service! New favorite spot!!

The place is clean, spacious, plenty tables to sit. I just picked up some food to go. I did eat the pâté while waiting on my chicken and rice. It was a bit doughy but very flavorful and spicy. The juices are great. I should've taken some to go. The rice and beans with chicken were a hit as well. Glad to find a bit of home here. They also have a market of food and goodies to buy right next to the restaurant. This is definitely a little gem. Check them out.

The African pate tastes very similar to an alcapurria. A fritter stuffed with meat and fried. One man served us and we had to wait for him to clean up before ordering. Thankfully I ordered Yelp since it was a bit of a big order, unfortunately I never received a confirmation order, but I just seen our food sitting at the restaurant and asked if it was mine. It was....so we didn't have a long wait time, however the food had gotten cold. I tried to be strategic and ordered for 1:30, since my drive was 30 mins but it was still cold. Thankfully there were pates and sambusas in the hot case still warm, so we got those hot and fresh. The ambiance was a little lack luster. Not much decorum or music, but there is a smaller store on the other side of the restaurant. I didn't get a chance to check it out but next time. If it's two things you remember to try it's the Sorrel (Hibiscus) Juice and the Somali fish Sambusas. I would drive back for those two things alone. The sorrel juice is so flavorful and spicy from the ginger. Those two menu items alone are a 15/15

Red flag number one. I headed to the back where the "restaurant" part was, and the vibe was off. Everyone in the kitchen was just sitting there, stone-faced, staring at me like I'd wandered into a secret society meeting. My order was the only one, yet they still made me show proof on my phone to confirm it was me. Weird. Despite the strange energy, I decided to give it a shot--mainly because it looked like someone's Jamaican grandma had made the food, and who's saying no to that? When I got home, though, the food was... fine. Not great, not terrible, just aggressively average. The chicken was okay but obviously had been sitting under heat lamps or in a warmer for hours without being stirred or loved. The rice? Mid. The cabbage? Also mid. It's the kind of place where you can tell the food's only as good as how much effort the cooks feel like putting in that day. Some days it's probably amazing; other days, it's got the potential to send you sprinting to the bathroom. So, would I go back? Maybe. But only if I'm feeling adventurous--and not wearing white pants.
