The course has gorgeous views and is naturally beautiful, and I really liked that it is not irrigated - such environmental consciousness is rare among golf courses. Leigh, the head golf pro, and the other golf pros who gave us lessons were all great: very informative, skilled and enthusiastic yet down to earth. I would absolutely take another lesson with them. Finally, I also thought the women's locker room was well appointed, which is sometimes not the case among other clubs I have visited that cater to a primarily male clientele despite advertising themselves as open to men and women. All in all, the views, the friendly members and pros, nice facilities and environmentally conscious attitude of this club makes it one I would definitely join if I were in the country club membership market.

The 18-hole "Fishers Island" course at the Fishers Island Club facility in Fishers Island, New York features 6,544 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 72.9 and it has a slope rating of 134. Designed by Seth Raynor, the Fishers Island golf course opened in 1925. There really isn't a bad thing to say about the course. Wonderful was the staff and there were plenty of volunteers. Well managed of crowd control in and out of this golf club. Sight of security in place. There are very few trees for shade at Shinnecock, so on this very hot day, I am under an umbrella when following the action from one hole to another. Well kept is this more than 100 years old course. The Golf Club is located near Riverhead in Baiting Hollow on the bluffs of Long Island. I was quite impressed with the club house along with the surrounding grounds. The bar was wood accented and set well inside the club members dining area. As far as the golf course, I found the fairways friendly which in most cases allow one to recover from a bad drive. Also the greens were in fabulous shape and quire fast. Overall I very much enjoyed my first visit and golf round at this Golf Club. I am truly am looking forward to my next visit.
