I'm a Clovis Point member, I enjoy the wine, staff, location, atmosphere, snacks and the option to bring my own snacks. Only thing I'm not happy with is their new rule of not being able to have my ice storage bag with me. The staff advised my ice bags and coolers were no longer available to be kept by the table, due to people bringing in their own liquor. All my snacks had to be taken out and left on the table and after a while swatting bugs away. I told them they could check my ice bag, but they said it didn't matter. That was the new rule, ( No ice bags or coolers by the table) I had to put them inside behind the counter and they would take them out if I needed something. read more

Attended a recent art event at this sweet winery. There was a live musician too, which was a nice touch. A bunch of us opted for the wine flight with chocolate pairing, which was a bit pricey for what we got. My favorite wines were the aged Cabernet franc brut and the Cabernet franc, and my favorite chocolate was the artifact truffle with a dark chocolate ganache. The servers were nice enough and the ambience was your typical rustic-looking north shore winery. I'm glad I went but not sure I'll rush back read more

Lovely fall afternoon spent sipping wine and enjoying live music. They had a food truck providing more substantial food choices, but the winery does offer cheese and charcuterie plates and other small snacks as well. The wine was good- I was disappointed that they were not offering tastings(the website and menu do advise that this is not always an option) due to how booked/busy they were, as there were several I would have liked to try. The staff did offer to allow me to taste the wine I was considering before committing a glass- so that was great! Now let me start by saying im partial to clovis point as my favorite winery because its where i got engaged! With that being said the place is great all around and we always have a nice time whenever we go their. The atmosphere is beautiful and the view of the vineyards are awesome. The wine is great, our favorite is their merlot. Service is also great. The staff is always friendly and more then helpful with assisting you in your selection. My personal recommendation is stopping at a deli in town prior, getting some sandwichs, then going their for a nice lunch and wine date. Plenty of room for large groups and partys. read more

The only vineyard I've seen that charges a $20 deposit per person that they do not refund so you have to spend it there. I didn't see this mentioned on their website nor was it mentioned to me when I called to make a reservation. We only had 45 min to kill until our reservation at Jamesport so only 3/5 people did the tastings and we were in for a surprise when they said we have to spend another $40 as it's non refundable + tip which has to be cash and cannot be a part of the deposit. The tasting amount itself was very small. We tried all of the wines and the rose was the only one that was OK. We spent the rest of our deposit on this rose but I would have much rather had a refund. Good wine, beautiful setting. My poor review is based on how we were treated. When we called to make a reservation, we told them that we were a group of eight. They told us that because of Covid we had to come in two separate groups (the maximum group size allowed is six). That was no problem. We made two reservations, we showed up separately, and we sat at opposite ends of the lawn area with no complaint. The crazy thing was, after giving no indication that we'd break their rules, they bizarrely began threatening to kick us out if we did suddenly begin breaking the rules. Which, again, we'd given no indication we'd do. We sat far away and never once came close to the other group. What really got my hackles up, though, was when a group of TEN of waspy older women showed up, they were sat at two tables directly adjacent to one another. I've been to Clovis Point a few times (spring and fall months) and have always had a great experience. The ambiance and decor is beautiful, rustic, and typical of a winery. The property is immaculate inside and out. The wines are generally very good and the tasting room is spacious enough for big groups to comfortably enjoy their flights. The service is top notch and the staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. After you're done tasting, you can sit outside or on the patio and enjoy your wine and the scenery. They have wine barrel tables outside overlooking the grounds as well as tables and chairs on the patio. I love the live music and how friendly everyone is. Also, you can order cheese platters and things there or you can bring your own food/snacks which is definitely a plus. The only thing I don't particularly care for is that they don't wash or give you new wine glasses in between each tasting. Not a deal breaker though, I understand that can be a bit much given the volume of customers they have. Clovis Point is a bit far out for me but it's definitely worth the trip. We tried 2015 Syrah, 2015 Archeology, 2017 Black Label Chardonnay, 2016 Chardonnay, and one more (but I forgot). I loved 2016 Chardonnay, personally it was the best one from here for me. Also liked the fig spread & crackers! Chocolate was just chocolate. All of the staffs were really nice. We went on labors day, and didn't make any reservations in advance. We called the day of and put our names asking them to call us if any seatings open up. They called us an hr or two later and we were able to get a seating outside. Outdoor seating is really nice and breezy. Before leaving we bought the Brut champagne and rosé wine. Both were good, I prefer champagne over the rose wine. read more

My experience at this winery had high and low points... I purchased a $30 Groupon for 2 which included: a tour of the winery, tastings of their 8 different wines, a glass of your favorite wine from the tastings, and a cheese & cracker platter. I had called earlier in the day to make reservations as per the Groupon's instructions for 1:30pm. We get to the winery at 1:30 and there's a sign at the door saying they'd be back at 1:45. We get back to Clovis Point at 2:30 and they're still not back! Why would they leave for so long when they KNEW I made a reservation for 1:30?! That really grinded my gears. After that, I gave up on them and we headed off. At 3pm, I get a call from Clovis Point saying that they were back. So we went back to once again. The Groupon was a really good deal. The vineyard is beautiful, and the tasting room is warm and inviting. They had 3 whites and 5 reds available for tasting, and we were allowed to take our time and really enjoy the experience. The cheese & cracker platter was more than enough for 2 to share. The service could have been better. They were very knowledgable about their wines, but I felt like we were ignored compared to the attention that other customers recieved from the staff. Also, the fact that they weren't there after I called and made a reservation left a bad impression. The wines themselves were not my favorite. It was a big disappointment!! If you are used to good service during wine tasting then do not come here! The worst service ever! The employees ignored our group of 5 for a long time. One someone finally paid attention to us, they didn't give us any information about the wines - they just poured it and charged us money. We are all working adults with cash to spend, we were not given the time of day here. I usually do not write negative reviews, but I was very disappointed here. I don't really pay attention to reviews of people that take Long Island wine tours. They're sloppy buzzed after the 3rd stop and could be drinking moose piss for all they know. I took my wife out to Tanger today to buy her a Coach bag. I wanted to get a nice bottle of wine for Labor Day and I thought I can swing out east and buy a local wine from my favorite vineyard. On the way out east, I noticed a new vineyard. We pull in and it looks simply breathtaking. Beautiful flower arrangements on each side of the walkway and the inside was tastefully decorated. The person serving wine is also the owner. He tells me about the wine club and the events they have 3 times per year like lobster bakes. All you have to do is buy 12 bottles in one year. Not a problem, we usually buy Long Island wines as gifts for the holidays. Now, what if the wine tastes nasty? Well, guess what Skippy? The wine was really nice tasting. Today they offered (4) bottles of wine for tasting: (2) Chardonnays (2) Merlots Chardonnay is being blended differently than a few years ago. The rule was always ABC (Anything but Chardonnay) when pairing wine with food. Now, they are blending Chardonnay to be pared with food. Listen, I am no way a wine connoisseur. I do however enjoy a good bottle of wine and the Chardonnay was really good here. In fact, I joined the club and took a bottle home. We wanted to start our day with a vineyard that we never tried before. Pulling up to Clovis Point, you'll notice the beautiful grounds, gravel road leading to the parking spaces. A small presentation of their grapes along the walkway to the barn-like structure. Inside, there is a long counter-top along the right for tasting. The tasting area is spacious, allowing about 15 people to taste at a time, and the wines are served in large glasses. For those looking to drink a bottle of their wine, there is an outdoor area with tables and a live musician who plays on weekends. There is even a nice grassy area to picnic on, if you're looking to slow things down a bit to relax. But their wine is mediocre and nothing worth raving about. We didn't particularly like any of their wines enough, to warrant buying a bottle. At first glance, the wines looked fine, but after a taste, it didn't have the elusive appeal that a great wine has. A good wine should have fantastic aromas, complex yet balanced flavors that develop on your tongue and have your tastebuds jumping. It was Valentine's Day weekend so reservations were required and they were sold out. The ladies bought their wine tasting which they enjoyed. Nice that they let you bring your own food. Let me start saying that I am a BIG fan of Oakey Chardonnay so Clovis Point was a must try for me. We arrived early around 11am -ish and did not have a reservation on a Saturday. Luckily we were early enough and were able to use one of their reserved tables outside for a little bit. I obviously went with their oak chardonnay and was not disappointed! We also got a plate with Spanish cheeses and crackers to go with it. Around 12pm the food truck that was there on that day (elegant eats) opened and we ordered some food from it. Very nice lady but the food is a bit overpriced for what it is and didn't taste that great. I will definitely stick to their cheese plates and yummy wine when I go back! Clovis Point is a great place to stop into, even if you're not into the oakey flavors of a traditional Chardonnay. You'll be surprised! read more

I've been to Clovis over fifteen times throughout the years dating back to the early days of when I met Hal at a wine pairing dinner at Amarelle in Wading River. I've always been a fan of Clovis' reds and they continue to showcase a lot of the usual grape varieties, nose profiles and tasting/palette characteristics that you would expect with a couple of gems year in, year out. CP tends to get quite busy during the weekends and this detract from the experience for me. My group and I always find ourselves trying to fight for space at the bar or need to go to the back room which is usually frequented by fairly rowdy folks. Came here on our normal wine day out east, decided to stop here since we had never been. We walked in and weren't even greeted, the girl was on her phone and couldn't even say hello to us. We look over the tasting menu, she didn't explain anything to us, we were on our own. She said we had to stay at the bar for our tasting, which seemed pretty odd to us. She continued with her cold attitude, so asked to go outside. She coldly poured our last two glasses and just stood there with an attitude. It wasn't busy, there may have been 4 other people there besides us. We took our last two tastings outside, and weren't really blown away with the outside either. I've been here at least 3 times, joined the Wine Club, and my husband and I held our engagement party here. Needless to say, I am a BIG fan. Our first visit was on a self-directed bike and wine tour...we rode bikes and tasted wine all day, and it was superb, but the caliber of wine was never better than at Clovis Point. Truly, they are the best in the area, in our opinion. They are very careful with growing and selecting their grapes - as you may learn with a tour with the owner or one of their friendly staff. For them, it's not about quantity, but rather the quality of the grapes, and you can really tell the difference in the wine. Speaking of friendly, Hal - one of the owners, is incredibly gracious, friendly and helpful. He makes it feel like a community winery and is an excellent teacher about vintages of wine and tasting. Great winery with an awesome outdoor seating area . The wines are great and they have a good food menu. We got the Spanish cheese plate which provided a good amount of cheese, enough for 3-4 people. Only con is the tasting menu is a little pricey. Also, for how busy the place is, they could've used another bar tender, we ended up waiting quite a bit for our tastings. They had an awesome band playing (Eathtones) when we went which added to the whole experience as well! Will 100% come back for another tasting. Very beautiful and nice place. There wines were good. I'm not a Chardonnay fan but I liked theirs. Rose was nice and crisp and refreshing.

I visited Clovis over the weekend with a couple of friends and was so impressed with the precautions they've set in place during Covid-19. We made our reservations prior to going as their website indicated. Upon arrival we were welcomed and our temperature was taken. There was hand sanitizer available for guests to use as well. It was great that they still had live music and we got to enjoy it all in the shade on a very hot Sunday! We stopped locally to buy cheese and crackers and brought it along with us, which was awesome as we got to support another small business. It was a fantastic afternoon all around, the service was great and the staff was attentive. Would highly recommend! read more

We ended up here as a result of Groupon's tasting deal which was supposed to be 3 whites, 5 reds, a glass of your favorite, cheese and crackers and a tour. By the time we used the groupon they had stopped doing tours but they said we could have a commemorative glass instead.We came in on a Thursday which is apparently when they are closed but the manager Kelly did us a solid and let us come in anytime before 5 pm since he stated that he goes in during the week to do paperwork. This particular vineyard is newer than most with 2001 being the year they planted their grapes. Kelly was very nice and did not tell us to "shut the door" as one yelper mentioned. He was patient and answered a lot of our newbie questions. I don't like reds so I can't speak for them but the three whites were nice with each one better than the last. Kelly let us enjoy our favorite glasses in the outdoor area which was covered and pretty warm considering the day was not too warm. I would say that he went out of his way to accomodate us and did not make us feel rushed in anyway. He was honest and friendly and that made the experience even more enjoyable. read more

Recently, a friend of mine bought 2 vouchers for the tour at Clovis Point off of livingsocial.com. The deal was 2/$30. Included in the vouchers was a "tour of the vineyard" which equated to the owner of the vineyard showing us the grapes as well as sit with us as we tried each of their wines. Neither me nor my friend had any real experience with wines or wine making, and thus the whole thing was a great learning experience. As we were led through each of their wines, we got an overview of the wine making process and basics between the wines. We were also given a history lesson on Long Island wines, an interesting and personal twist. The experience also included a glass of our favorite of the sampled wines and a cheese platter. I'd recommend this experience for anyone who isn't knowledgeable about wines and is looking to get their feet wet. The wine was good, people knowledgeable, and atmosphere great. Even though I took two bottles home, I'm sure I'll be back soon. read more
