My wife and I came here on a Sunday night 8:15ish and it wasn't too busy. They had a bar area where a lot of ppl were watching the football game. It took a little bit for us to be greeted as there was no host at the stand. However, we were seated fairly quickly once someone saw us at the front waiting. Our server was very friendly, she took our drink orders right away and also helped us answer a few questions about their happy hour, which was only available in the bar area and included appetizers at a discount. We wanted food, so we didn't end up going to the bar. I got the fried fish tacos and also ordered a side of fries. My wife ordered the huli huli chicken sandwhich, and I was blown away at just how quickly the food came out and the portion size. They give you a decent amount of fries, which came in its own plate. It could have probably been shared by my wife and I, but we were pretty hungry. The fish tacos were very good! It came with 3 tacos on I think corn tortillas, but the fish was HUGE! It had Pico de Gallo and a delicious sauce.. I'm not sure what it was, but I asked for more. It was refreshing and very filling! It did not disappoint. The huli huli chicken sandwhich is one of our favorites. The chicken is crispy on the outside but very juicy on the inside. The sauce is one of a kind! Sweet but savory and completed the sandwhich. On top of that, our server was very friendly! She didn't rush us and was very attentive. They were closing soon, but everything seemed fresh and tasted delicious. Amazing food good service outstanding staff and they were fast and the drinks were so good.

Used to come here a lot years ago and it was good at the beginning then it got bad. Started going again recently, it was good again only to be foiled by bad service and a rude waitress. When we walk in the restaurant we stood around for about 5 minutes before we were seated, (empty restaurant) then another 10 minutes go by before I had to ask if this lady if she was my waitress and she rudely replied and just kept walking. Never stop to say I'm your waitress I will be with you in a moment just kept passing us by like we were nothing . Sadly I will not be coming back to islands again. We came in around 7:30 on a Wednesday night. It was our first visit to an Islands Restaurant. Chips and salsa were good. Chips were a little salty. We all ordered burgers and were all disappointed. The bacon tasted weird and I took it off. The fries must have been sitting under the warmer for A Long time because they were cold and some were terribly hard. Five stars for their service. No wait. Was seated quickly. Hostess was nice. New to her job but she was good. Our server Allison was sweet. Very nice and prompt. She kept bringing me a refilled ice tea. She also informed us several times that they were short staffed and that our food was almost up. As far as the food, I miss ordered. Got the Kailua pork tacos. The tortilla was hard and dry. I just ate the Kailua pork. I'll stick with a burger at Islands. Can't go wrong there. read more

Three friends and I went to Islands after going Christmas Eve shopping in the area, and we decided to go to Islands. Our server, named Sam, had great hospitality. He carried four drinks in one hand without a tray, and he carried 5 baskets of food on one arm at the same time. It was quite the feat. He was very nice, kind, and generous. It's lunchtime at Islands! It's been a while since I've visited a location since they closed down the BREA one and I used to go to the Pasadena and Burbank locations in my younger years. I suddenly craved their cheddar fries as I realized there was one in Chino Hills. Service was awesome and our server was very attentive and filled up our drinks when it ran low. And of all things I did not order cheddar fries as our server reminded me that my meal came with fries... which would've probably been overkill so I appreciated that reminder. I was able to switch I my mushroom burger with a veggie patty which was yummy. Also ordered a Cobb salad which my daughter couldn't finish just because of the huge portion. Fries were fried perfectly and veggie patty was moist. In my younger years I would've finished it all but I also had to take home leftovers. Huge portions for lunch were awesome. I've been a loyal customer of Island's for years, and my mom and I usually come here for dinner and order the same thing every time -- the endless chicken tortilla soup and tropical iced tea. We typically get three bowls of soup and one or two tea refills without any issues. Unfortunately, our visit on 4/30 was a major disappointment. Our server, Brittaney, gave off a "fake nice" vibe from the start and seemed irritated whenever we asked a question. When we requested our final soup refill (after she had already dropped off the bill), she brought it out in a noticeably smaller bowl -- half the size of the usual portions. We've never had that happen before. We also asked for to-go tropical teas. Before we could ask for no ice, Brittaney had already walked off, and both drinks came back with the cups half filled with ice. We waited to see if she'd come back so we could ask for a fix, but she never did. We eventually asked the hostess, who also seemed put off by our request. After going to the back, it appeared she was talking to another staff member about us. When she returned, she handed us two more to-go cups, which was wasteful as we just wanted our cups topped off and when they came, they were only halfway filled. When she set the cups down, she said, "Here's the other half of your tea" in an exasperated and impertinent tone. This experience felt dismissive and unwelcoming. We've always loved this location, but this visit left a bad taste in our mouths -- and not from the food. I hope management takes note and reminds the staff that kindness and consistency go a long way in customer service. **Disclaimer: This rating is purely based on the experience I had while dining. Completely forgot that there was an Islands nearby. Their mushroom-Swiss cheese burger was just as good as I remember it. My wife ordered the pineapple-teriyaki burger and it was OK. The onions were raw which didn't quite flow with the rest of the charbroiled taste. I think if the onions were sautéed and grilled it would have been delightful. Just went here again tonight. They have a really nice setup for outdoor seating right now, but also have curbside ordering and pickup. I was really glad for the curbside, and they worked with me so there was no contact. I was able to leave a 20 dollar bill, and they put the food in my car's passenger side. :) I am so covid freaked out, that it's nice to see people respect that and be patient with me. So a big shout out first to both Paulina who took my order, and Ryan who did the curbside stuff with me. Thank you both! I ordered the Maui combo burger meal. This included the patty, cheese, and sautéed mushrooms. It came with fries and a diet coke. The burger was huge and really tasty. The fries were also really good and they gave me a lot. I never write reviews but felt compelled to today after a very bizarre experience. First off, I'm very disappointed with management. It was just my 33rd birthday, my new license, which is a real California ID just came in the mail. I decided to take my fiancé' and her son to come eat a late lunch here. To my surprise, when we went to order our drinks the waitress said she needed to check my ID at the front. After about approximately 10 minutes of waiting we were met with the manager (older gentlemen with glasses) who told me he could not serve me any drinks because my ID hasn't been updated in THEIR book and didn't match any of the California ID pictures in THEIR book. "it does have some cool holographics" but still could not serve me. I explained to him I just went to the DMV and got this in the mail. He said I wasn't getting served and that if that was an issue we were welcomed to leave or he would give us a "card" for next time. Very weird and uncomfortable situation to be in. Again, I'm a grown man having to get into a verbal exchange to try and convince the manager this is a real ID and it's not my fault your "book" is not up-to-date with a real ID? So because of the negligence of the establishment to update this "ID book" and the incompetence of this manager, I'm left feeling rather uncomfortable to continue staying here and enjoying some drinks and a meal with my family for a late birthday lunch. Rather than finding a resolution, we were welcomed to leave and come back. Come back when you have training on the new IDs or when your book is updated? Management needs better training on resolution skills, establishment needs to do a better a job at updating this "ID Book" and over all just better service in general. So glad this place was still open for take out. Their burgers and fries never disappoint. Gourmet giant sized portions of fries and a Longboarder burger without onions for ~$15. The crunchy fries and flavorful burger just goes so well together! This was such a treat as we needed to refuel in between grocery shopping for essentials. This is a great, oldie but goodie restaurant for a yummy burger. We typically order the pipeline  burgers, chili cheese fries, with a glass wine /beer and consistently enjoy a very satisfying meal. For a lighter option, I occasionally order the Beach Bowl, delicious  chicken bites, and veggies. Always friendly and attentive service. On a side note, this is a good place to catch a game. A friend of mine was ready to hit up a burger joint to grab some food and reminisce, initially, we almost went to In-N-Out but decided upon Islands , when we arrived the staff told us we would be seated in 20 minutes , 20 minutes then passed and we were not seating until 45 minutes , they even had guests seated sooner even though they arrived later than we did, when we were finally seated the food was decent, I will not lie , but fries are sold separately which is messed up , but then as we were enjoying our food and convo , we were greeted by not one but two Waterbugs in our booth, I would not recommend Islands till they get their s###t together and provide a better experience, Tread lightly if you decide to eat here read more

Enjoyed a lunch date with my teen and it was busy here... didn't want to wait for a table so we grabbed an open high top by the bar. The kitchen was backed up so there was a long wait for our order but service was great.
