Classic tourist trap run by a likely greedy owner. Staff were very friendly and trying their best but the ingredients they have to work with would barely cut it at a college dining hall. Nothing tasted all that good even to a group of tired hungry tourists. All of the protein comes into the kitchen frozen even the seafood despite being in a coastal fishing area. Would be one thing for a cheap spot but most menu items range from $20-$60 and a third of each plate is take up by chopped iceberg lettuce and tomato. Drinks were also subpar, just get a beer or something that this restaurant doesn't make. Head east down rt. 655 and get some more local food. Unless you're dying for a tacky themed restaurant that just wants your money. read more

Food was AMAZING! My 87 year old mom and I went there after visiting the Lighthouse and were so happy we did. The menu is big with many choices. I decided to try the Octopus Salad (pulpo) as an Appetizer. For $14 it was well worth the price. It was served with a small side of lettuce and tomato salad which was more than a restaurant usually gives. It was very tasty and enough for two. We then ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce with sweet plantains (maduro) and side salad along with the chicken breast in garlic sauce with Tostones and the same side salad. The sauce was delicious and the shrimp and chicken were cooked to perfection. We had a really great server (Damaris) who was very attentive. My friends and I all got the snapper filet with different sauces but we were all super happy! Very flavorful fresh and meaty snapper. The tostones de pana (breadfruit) is lighter than the plantain tostones which was perfect! They were crispy, light and delicious. While beach hopping on a Sunday I was ready for lunch after spending time relaxing at Playa la Poza del Obispo and touring Arecibo Lighthouse. I wanted seafood at a place with a view so ate at Islote Beach restaurant. It was fairly packed, I was greeted right away and requested a seat in the patio area with a view. I was sat at a table and provided a menu. The menu is in Spanish so I was then told I could scan the barcode for a menu in English. I have dietary restrictions so this was very helpful. My waitress was the best! She was so patient, helpful with recommendations, and very pleasant. I sat, enjoyed the view, and absolutely enjoyed each sip of my pina colada, and meal. This restaurant is large, casual and sectioned into different spaces - open air (the main dining area) and air conditioned (the bar). The menu is fairly large. Warning: for English speakers, there's no English menu, but the servers do speak enough English to help. I ordered the shrimp prepared in garlic cream sauce (per the waitress's recommendation). I panicked when I was asked to pick a side, and went with French fries (one of the few words I recognized on the menu). This was the best restaurant I've visited in Puerto Rico--in terms of food quality. When I saw the pictures of food in Yelp or Google, I wasn't as tempted to go, but how wrong was I. I didn't really know what to pick, so I asked for server recommendations. Fried cheese was okay, but the other appetizer was tasty! I liked the fillet and yellow rice, but they can be salty. So, having mofongo toned down the saltiness. Everything worked out well, and I was satisfied with the dish. The servers were really helpful. I didn't know PR had lots of mosquitoes and didn't bring any repellent--I didn't know such a thing existed until they introduced to me. I went back in 2019 after hanging out in Arecibo Lighthouse and Historical Park. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in this town, the food is full with flavor and the alcoholic beverages are on point. Our waitstaff person, Cindy, did a great job. HOWEVER! I went to the Ladies room and while in there, someone else came in. I took care of business, and was washing my hands when the other person came out of the stall. She was a young lady who wears glasses, and was wearing a red waitstaff shirt. She went right past me and out of the bathroom without washing her hands! I came out behind her as she walked out and she went to the front bar area.
