Isola Bella is a great Italian option on Anna Maria island. The food is always fresh and the service is decently quick and nice. They have unique cocktails where everything is wine based. The espresso martini was yummy! I also got the carbonara and it was great. I would skip on the tiramisu. The inside of the restaurant is very moody and has a dim Italian vibe that is great. Tried the ahi tuna special and really enjoyed it -- nicely done and fresh. We sat outside, which was nice in theory, but the space looks like it may have taken a hit during the hurricane and hasn't fully bounced back. Still pleasant to be outside, but the view leans more parking lot than atmosphere. Food saves it. read more

We went here for dinner but had a hard time getting a dinner reservation so plan ahead and book well in advance. Our orders were Chicken Parm ($29) and Ragu Meatballs ($29). Wine was $14 a glass. The service from Clarissa was excellent. Our food arrived very fast; so fast we felt a bit rushed but after that every thing was fine. Both portions were more than adequate and we took some leftovers home. If you're looking for what I would call home cooked Italian food this place is a good choice. Full bar and a good wine list. When we didn't order drinks the waitress wasn't interested in serving us, bread was brought out when our food arrived and she had already cleared our bread plates. We decided to take our annual vacation with our friends to travel to Anna Maria Island this year. It was the first time my wife and I had stayed on AMI before, but our friends had been there several times. They recommended we try this little Italian place over by The Ugly Grouper. I had heard about that place, but I was skeptical about an Italian place in a small beach town. To say that Isola Bella might have been the best restaurant we tried while we were there might be an understatement. A 5-star rating is the highest rating I could give them, otherwise, it would have been more. Let's start with the restaurant facility. It's tucked away in the corner of a building slightly off the main road. There is some outdoor seating as you walk up to the front desk to be seated. Pro tip: Get a reservation. We ended up sitting outside, which would have been incredible but the night we went was extremely hot and humid. They had fans blowing to help but fans can only do so much in southern heat when the wind isn't blowing. The tables were clean and well prepared, and the service staff was prompt. I highly recommend getting reservations so you can sit inside. We were barely seated for 3 minutes when our server came over to get our drink orders. It was perfect timing and gave us time to review the drink menu. The menu has just the right amount of items on it. Many higher end Italian places have a handful of specialty items and lower end places have too many items. I ordered the chicken picatta (a personal favorite) & mediterranean salad, my wife ordered the carbonara & Caesar salad, and our friends ordered the gnocchi al pesto & tortellini Bolognese. I have eaten at several high-end Italian restaurants in other large cities and frankly, this meal ranks among some of the best I have ever eaten. I am generally very critical of dishes that are personal favorites. There is a right way to cook picatta dishes and there are many wrong ways. If you know, you know. The chicken was perfectly trimmed & flattened, seasoned, and cooked to perfection. The pasta was a perfect al dente and the sauce was next level. The perfect balance of lemon and capers without overpowering the taste of the chicken. My mouth is watering even writing this review. We wrapped up our meal with some gelato and even that was the perfect balance of creaminess and flavor without going too far. The portion sizes left me feeling sated but not miserable. Outside of the food and facilities, the staff was amazing. The runners made sure the food hit the table while it was perfectly cooked. I'm not even sure if they had heat lamps in the kitchen. Our drinks were never empty, and our server had a wonderful personality. My buddy, Tim and I are sarcastic and pranksters, and the server played right along and made the meal even more enjoyable. We learned he was trying to become a firefighter, and we certainly hope he gets to live his dream. All of the food was delicious and fresh, clearly made in house! The service was incredible, I'm kicking myself for not remembering our servers name but he was such a gentleman and has been in the industry for 39 years. It's such a small, cozy atmosphere but still seated plenty of guests. All of the food was a hit, but the lasagna really stood out! The tiramisu was out of this world. We ate here for our first night in AMI and it was SO GOOD. The staff was so friendly and nice. We went late in the evening so it was quiet and calm atmosphere. The food was so good! Went for dinner with the family last week. None of us were super impressed. We had a reservation, but to wait a while for our table. That's fine and we get it. Things are busy. However, it would be nice to have some drink options while you wait in the grubby parking lot, as there is no bar. Also, if you don't drink wine or beer, you're out of luck as there is no liquor there. The waitress had a huge attitude towards us and that started us off on a bad note. She was rude and not at all flexible. The food was fine. I had the veal and really liked it. Everyone else their meals were "meh". We ordered the antipasto and they brought us two super small pieces of bread for 4 people. She almost ripped my head off when I asked about it. We love the island, but won't be going back to eat here. Wish we could give a raving review as many others have. read more

True authentic Italian! For this trip to AMI, we were here 8 days and ate here 3 times. You just can't beat it. Everything is outstanding, the prices are right, and the service is top notch. To start, my husband and I split the Caesar salad (which doesn't come with the anchovies on top like the pictures show- I found that to be a little off putting and I asked about beforehand) and it was fresh and crisp. The house bread and olive oil is great. I got the lobster ravioli each time because it's light and perfect. My husband raved that the shrimp fra diavolo is the best dish he's eaten in the last several years. Perfectly spiced. The wine we had was excellent. We finished the meal with the bread pudding which was nice and had a cinnamon flavor, that I'm still thinking about. The service was excellent and prompt- our drinks never went dry. Our server brought my son's meal out when it was ready so he could start enjoying his meal, something I'd normally have to ask for, and that was so helpful. A complete surprise in both environment and cuisine. We were looking for something different from the many seafood alternatives and stumbled on this gem. Tiny dining room with a wonderful decor. Isola Bella could have been easily a five star, except one thing service! Maybe I am being picky, but our water glasses were emptied twice and sit on the table as the waiters walked by. One time the host filled the glasses. At the time about 60% of the tables were not occupied. The other thing that I noticed is bread was brought freely to the tables, I had to asked for it when we got our meal. Three pieces for two people with olive oil and balsamic we were not offered more. We sat outside and it was nice as it was warm. As the night went along the wind did pick up and it was a little chilly. We ordered an appetizer that was goat cheese, fresh strawberries and a balsamic vinegar. It was very good, it made us want more. My wife piccata with veal, out of the box for her and she liked it and I am sure she would order it again. I ordered shrimp fra diavolo. I was told is was spicy and I am good with that. It was spicy good. The shrimp were cooked correctly the only thing that could have been improved on was the roasted tomatoes only found one. We did have desert my wife ordered tiramisu and it was very good. I had the bread pudding and it was over the top. Just based on the food we would be willing to try again. Been a long time since we've dined at Italian Restaurant but, being unable to get a table at other local spots on AMI at dinner rush prompted us to call Isola Bella and check availability. Upon being informed a table was ready, off we go! As soon as I was seated, I could immediately sense a chef that knew his Italian cuisine was present. The aromas of garlic, basil and sauce permeate the air as we drift away into carb heaven and away from the red tide that plagued the nearby ocean waves. The menu was not overly complicated. An extensive wine list accompanied a few house cocktails. Wait staff was very helpful. I opted for the veal parm, while the rest of the gang enjoyed lasagna, chicken Alfredo pasta and the fried eggplant appetizer. Top it all off with house bread and olive oil/balsamic for dipping! We decided Friday night was a good night for Italian. We reviewed the menus on several places here on Anna Maria and weren't impressed. We saw the menu for Isola Bella and were blown away. The service and staff were totally first rate. I'm originally from the St Louis area. I've eaten in some of the best Italian restaurants in the US. I have to say this ranks as one of the best. It be veal Marsala was stunningly good with homemade pasta and perfect Marsala sauce. My son had their version of tuta mare. It was also among the best we ever had. My wife had primavera that she loved. If you are visiting the area forget the tourist traps and try Isola Bella. You won't regret it. I only regret I didn't have dessert. read more

We came here on the last night of our trip for a nice departure dinner. Our server was too pushy trying to upsell us and get us to order additional items any chance he got. Aside from that, the service was great with the food runners being very helpful. As far as the food, the burrata appetizer was excellent. The cheese was presented with a healthy portion of olives, prosciutto, salami, tomatoes, and I believe, arugula. I ordered the pasta norma and wished immensely that the eggplant would have not been breaded and fried. Its my fault for not reading the description properly but I was expecting something a bit more fresh. I didnt love the breaded vegetable on top of pasta. The pasta itself was well made and the sauce was tasty as well. The ravioli was a hit at our table, both the lobster ravioli and the spinach and ricotta ravioli. I am concerned that they added a 20% service charge to our bill. I have never had this fee charged on a bill in the US. In Aruba, they charge this fee. I do not believe this is general practice on AMI. This fee helps with the cost to run the restaurant. This is not the gratuity for the waitstaff. The bill had a spot for the gratuity. I also noticed on the bill upcharging, such as cost for anchovies on a Caesar salad. Unfortunately, the restaurant has out-priced themselves. I would rather go to a restaurant on the beach if I was to spend over $200 for a meal for my husband and myself. I'm sad to say, I will not go back to Isola Bella. read more

We were done eating within 20 min of sitting down. We didn't order any drinks and after placing our order our food arrived in under 10 minutes. It was very surprising and the lasagna was super hot from the reheat. We paid $60 for a bowl of lasagna and a chicken Parmesan and after trying it was way over priced. These dishes weren't worth more than $18 a piece and that's being generous. The pasta isn't homemade and the Ragu on the spaghetti was very runny and bland. We had to mix some of the lasagna sauce in it to make it better. IMO I wouldn't go back as it's overpriced for sure.
