Very kind and caring. The goal is to not traumatize your child. Dr. Horton, Dr. Frye, and the staff are amazing!

To fill a cavity is a 3 month wait and when I sent my daughter in w my mom bc I had to work, they needed to call me like I didn't follow a rule. They've cancelled appointment on me multiple times as well. Also, when my daughter needed to see an orthodontist they took X-rays to provide, which took over an hour and very unprofessional bc they used phone flash lights to look at the X-ray? Then the ones they provided were not them and we knew this bc she had braces and a bracket was missing. Stir clear of this place. They are a factory and just want your business but won't do a good job of keeping it.

Also tried to get a call back by submiting their online form and no one called back. Had to end up calling the Easley location and they were able to access my info to answer a question. Discussed the issue in person and their excuse was being short staffed and they admitted to not answering the phones. This would be understandable if it were not a daily occurance but it has been impossible to get any response at the Greenville location over the past few weeks. Update as of 5/12/25 - the place can respond to my negative review on a differet platform but STILL WILL NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. I left an urgent message on 5/09 and no one has called me back yet as of 4pm 5/12. Looking for another provider ASAP. Also, the place is very unorganized when it comes to arriving and having to wait until your child is seen.

So my husband was the person that came forward about Dr. Kate being a complete unprofessional human being at southern pediatric dentistry about a month ago, and how she mom shamed me. Well, I continued to go through with a treatment plan because face it, it's about my son's mouth and being civil. So, the office has my email, address, and phone number. My son had an appointment today to fill 2 cavities and I couldn't remember if it was 9am or 9:25 so I called, the receptionist said your sons account is closed. I'm like what? I haven't missed appointments. The receptionist said Dr.Kate closed your account due to your Facebook rant. Excuse me WHAT?! So my husband had to call out of work, yall had my info this entire time to not let me know my account was closed?! So if I didn't call over the time, me and my son would have went up there for them to be snooty and say your not being seen?! So, Dr. Kate got her feelings hurt over my rant and totally disregarded my son's medical needs . The receptionist told me well you know it's just really bad for business, and I'm like this is going to be really bad for your business. If a parent is willing to be civil for the child like I was, then the professional dentist should be able to be civil for the child! And before anyone says why didn't you just find another dentist after your feelings got hurt. Well, trying to find a dentist that is accepting new patients, one that takes Medicaid, and in a timely manner is close to impossible in Anderson. So yes that's why I just wiped my feelings off and chose to be civil for my child, why couldn't Dr. Kate? She's in a customer service based career, not everyone is going to love her but to take it out on a 6 year old is beyond me.

However, this all comes at a price. We took our son to the dentist August and were told he needed to have two teeth extracted. We have insurance and had supplied the office with copies of our cards. We weren't billed anything the day of the cleaning and were given an estimate for the extraction of $149, which we paid in full the day of the service. A few weeks later, we received a bill for $214 for the cleaning itself. This was in addition to the $90 paid directly to the dentist by the insurance company. Although this seemed high - my dentist only charges $80 for a cleaning and that is billed to insurance and we pay $0 out of pocket - we knew we hadn't paid anything out of pocket on the day of the cleaning service. Today, though - almost three full months after his extraction on 8/22 - I received another phone call from the office indicating we are going to be billed an additional $220 for the extractions because the service isn't covered by insurance. This is in addition to the $149 already paid the day of the extractions. When I asked about the discrepancy between the estimate and the actual cost, I wasn't provided with a clear explanation as to why the final cost was more than twice the estimate originally provided or why it has taken almost three months to finalize the billing. I wouldn't go to a mechanic that estimated car repairs at $150 and provided a final bill of $370 after the service was complete. I don't recommend going to a medical professional that does this either. Also, the office will not bill any insurance other than primary regardless of whether the primary covers the services or not. So if you do have multiple policies, you get the joy of dealing with any secondary or tertiary company on your own. In short, I would love to keep my kids going to this dentist - they are great with kids and my son enjoys going - but I can't see continuing to go to a provider that doesn't have up front billing and can't provide honest estimates for service. Personally, over $400 in unexpected medical bills is not ok.
