I was initially sized for a custom tux shirt early June 2024 for my wedding on July 26, 2024. I paid $300 for the shirt. The shirt was not ready until August 8 and the shirt did not fit correctly. I knew there was a chance the shirt wouldn't be ready in time, however, I was told by Dash's that it was possible. I ended up purchasing a shirt from Brooks Brothers for my wedding that fit perfectly without any alterations needed. There was a major issue with the upper button/section of the shirt that you wouldn't expect from a custom shirt. I took the shirt back to Dash's on October 12 and the owner Victor assured me that they would get it fixed. On November 2, I returned to the store after being told the shirt was ready. When I arrived at the store, Victor told me there was a mistake and the shirt wasn't ready. He said they would have to send it back to the manufacturer. I did not hear back from the store until January 8, 2025 - in which I received a text letting me know that the shirt was ready and that they've been trying to get in contact with me. Prior to this, I never received a call or text with an update. Nonetheless, I proceeded to go back to the store to pickup the shirt, only for Victor to tell me it wasn't ready. He told me that there's a piece he was looking for on amazon and other sites that he couldn't find. He went on to ask me to look for that piece as well. Then he alluded to my height as being an issue. Mind you, Victor is an inch taller than me. Not only that, it was a custom shirt. So that's a poor excuse. At this point, I am frustrated because I paid $300 for a custom shirt that wasn't done correctly. Till this day, I have yet to receive the shirt. I've requested a refund and Victor refuses to give me one. His reasoning - "they are a small business." There has been no attempt to make things right by resizing for a shirt, or offering me anything to make up for the mishap. I've attached two pictures showing the issue with the shirt.

I came…read moreto the store because a good friend (who lived in Fairfax) past away and I acquired his last suit that he purchased at William T. Clothiers, and I wanted to get it altered for me in his memory. While I was there I decided to get 4 customs shirts made, as my last tailor retired recently. The shirt measurement process was strange from the get go, the owner/tailor Todd put 2 sample shirts in the dressing room. He stated 1 was for tighter fit, and 1 was for a looser fit. But didn't tell which one was which, so I put on the closest one to me. Todd then started asking me about how I wanted the length/width and such and started to measure me. Then we started to go over shirt patterns and fabrics, and I started to pick out patterns/fabrics/cuffs/collars pretty standard stuff. BTW, once this process started I never did try on the other sample shirts and he never mentioned for me to do so. After all the measuring was finished the pricing came, and OMG it was crazy expensive! The 4 shirts came to an average of $323.75 each, wow. All of my suits, jackets, dress pants, and dress shirts in the last 20 years have been custom tailored as I am an oddly shaped person. I know custom clothing is expensive, but the most I've ever paid for a shirt was about $200, but I bit the bullet and went ahead and ordered the shirts as I need a closet refresh. After a few days I got a message that 2 of the shirt designs were not available, so I had to basically let Todd pick the new colors/designs. About 4ish weeks later my shirts were ready for pickup, I was excited to see how the expensive shirts looked. When I tried on the 4 shirts, they were so tight that I was really taken aback. It was like his tape measure or eyesight was not working properly, they were so ill fitting. So all 4 shirts had to be completely reorder, and low and behold another color/design was not available again. That makes 3 of the 4 colors/designs picked out ended up unavailable. Well I picked up the 4 shirts yesterday, 5 months after my original order/measurement. Another bothersome thing with this tailor/Todd is that I ended up in that shop approximately 8 times, and Todd was only there 2 times. He as some nice whiskey displayed in the shop, never did he offer any to me. He knew how upset I was, and didn't even have the decency to be present when I finally pick up my shirts yesterday. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this tailor, there are so many tailors to choose from in the DC area to deal with this tailors crazy high prices, and awful customer service. The shirts are good quality, but this quality can be had for half the price.

Updated version Hi All,…read more  I know that everyone is different & everyone has a different notion about suits & what to buy.   But, if you need and are looking for a new suit and you are not an off the rack fit or perhaps you like made to measure (MTM) suits that are well constructed (full or half canvas) and that fit well, then please consider Art Solop of Benchmark Clothiers.     Art is a very nice friendly gentleman who knows his business & he offers very good MTM suits at reasonable prices.     I've tried to have MTM suits made by highly rated online vendors & even at one vendor at a brick & mortar location in D.C. and they can't compete in quality, amount of customization & fit. He can do almost anything from different types of pockets to styling to various linings and other many varied customizations all at the same price.  He doesn't even charge differently for different fabrics unlike many others.   My father was a custom suit fitter for Barneys NY and then for a custom uniform company in NYC for many years & he taught me all he knows about how a suit should fit. That's made me pickier than most when it comes to suits, how they fit and their construction for better or for worse. So believe me when I tell you that Art Solop is good & his suits are really well made. He is knowledgeable about Shatnez and has ascertained from his manufacturer assurances that his wool suits do not contain any linen.  Of course this is not a guarantee and I am not advising anyone not to have their clothing checked.   I highly recommend trying Art and Benchmark Clothiers for your next MTM suit or shirt. He can help with off the rack suits as well for about $400.00 inclusive of pants finishing - hem or cuff).
