While in Solvang, we found this really cool vintage thrift shop and walked around a bit. The inside had so many items to look at, but still felt very organized and didn't leave me feeling overwhelmed. They had everything - old records, comics, purses, fur coats, glassware -- even backstage passes from different concerts which I thought was pretty cool. I am always on the hunt for Uranium glass and A Piece of the Past had a few items. One being an ashtray and another being a set of glasses that I am still kicking myself for not just buying. Service was very friendly throughout the store and I also thought that most of the items were fairly priced - it didn't feel like they were trying to gouge anyone. Check them out!

Happiness set in as soon as I walked through the door. Clean, organized, bright and more importantly -- no old, dirty smell! The first item that caught my eye was a handmade mug. It reminded me of when my grandson was learning the alphabet as he would excitedly shout "N is for Narwhal!" Needless to say, I couldn't put it back down. We browsed every corner and found so many lovely items, including a beautiful vintage vanity (on my wish list). Prices were surprisingly reasonable, which made it really difficult not to buy more. As we were ready to check out with my mug, the husband pointed out a tiny silver scoop in a locked case. He could tell on my face that I wanted to add it to my collection, so he called someone to open the case -- he's such an enabler. :) The staff are easy to find, incredibly friendly and helpful. And it was worth the trip just to walk thru in amazement at all the variety wedged so perfectly into such a small space? And if you wanted something specific, not only would they have exactly what you wanted, no matter how obscure, the person working knew exactly where to find it immediately. This shop is like that. Expect expertly curated early Spanish, Mexican, including borderlands, and Indian, hanging art and antiques. Adding to the allure, it's a place you have to know about to know about. For example, the listed phone number is an old landline that no longer works. You're going to have to go there to see if the owner has hung the Gone Fishing sign or not, which is fine because it is an adventure just finding the place. Should you decide to take on the wilds of Montecito, you'll find the little corner where you need to be is kind of a major intersection for the town. As such, it is crammed with these teeny little 'shopping centers,' each with separate entrances that are super close to each other in a way that can get Waze confused. Hint - coming away from the 101, facing the mountains, after you pass the light, it's on your left in the second center back.

It was epic to witness. I've only ever seen items like this at the Getty. This is definitely a place you have to check out and plan to purchase from. I believe the pricing is fair because these are antiques that are made from scratch-- I mean everything is hand crafted. When you see something this nice, you would never want anyone to have a duplicate of it. It's so classy and the staff were incredibly kind. I believe this place is family-run, and it shows in how thoughtfully it's maintained. It felt inclusive and welcoming. Appointments are highly recommended, and this is not a space for children. I noticed they allow calm, well-behaved pets on leash or harness for private parties, which I appreciated. I first visited at 7 AM when they were closed just to admire the exterior, then came back around 12:30 PM to take it all in with better light. Definitely greeted kindly however when it comes to getting answers about products and getting called back when they get items back like the gloves - I receive no call. I stopped in multiple times and would check in and just remind them to call me. Of course, another time I stop in they have them but nobody called. Same thing nobody called me back about some questions I had on fabric and some products. So sadly, I've dropped them down from 5 to 3 stars because if you can't get information, especially when you're willing to pay a pretty penny, then that send a message that they don't stand behind their product or they don't really believe in their customer service. I have waited six months and had similar experiences so this isn't a one off. I'll try again down the line and hope things will have improved. I've tried to ask for the owner but she's not there. I wanted to give the feedback directly but seems like I'm out of block as well. I hope this helps. I look forward to updating this review in time.
