At first the messages came and went. Within a few days they appeared every time the auto stop feature engaged at red lights. I brought the car back on 11/20. Almen charged almost 200 dollars to reset codes in the system. These codes were tied to the braking system, which is the same area they worked on. The car had no computer issues before the original service. I should not have been charged to correct a problem that began right after their work. The experience was disappointing. I paid for a repair and then paid again to fix an issue caused during that repair.

Suspecting they were taking advantage of her, we consulted Tommy, our trusted mechanic in Knoxville, who confirmed our doubts. Although we managed to retrieve the car, my daughter still paid a lot for almost nothing. This time - when her car stopped running again - we found Brian. He quickly fixed the car and charged us a fair (and low) cost (based on Tommy's estimation). He was also accommodating, accepting the car after hours, and is someone we trust to not take advantage of those who don't know much about cars. (And, too, emergency cash -- for when, for example, gas station debit/credit machines are down -- that we keep within our documentation in the glove box was also stolen, as well.) Then, once we realized the work had not been done, our vehicle was out of warranty. We did return for a very, very, VERY simple issue with our newest Volkswagen, because we did not want to drive to Bristol or to Asheville and -- SOS. I, seriously, do not understand how these folks stay in business. But, either way, they are just not the caliber of professionalism we have come to expect relative to VW.
