Well I see that the store doesn't have recent reviews. On two occasions, they failed to call me when the products I ordered had arrived. On one recent occasion, I went to the store and saw them on their shelf. I was not happy. I complained, and asked why they hadn't called me. The young woman I spoke with had a terrible attitude, saying something about them being short-staffed. To add insult to injury, when she carried the bags, she dumped them violently to the floor. The bags were made of paper and I told her she's going to tear the bags. Sadly, I was subjected to more terrible attitude by this store staff. I wonder if I am the only one who is treated in this way. I want to love this local store but it doesn't seem like they care about customers much. I also wish they carry more items with less plastics and packaging. After this horrible experience, the only way I would go back to this store is if they start carrying bulk cat food and litter (of the kind I want), so I don't have to bother with plastic packaging that are unlikely to be recycled (something like only 10-20% of plastics going into recycling bins get actually "recycled" - actually only downcycled to be more accurate, and all plastics produced on the earth will eventually released into our environment. Plastics are hazardous waste and should be treated that way. I shudder every time I go to stores - any stores. our plastic culture is truly unsustainable - it is destructive. I heard plastic pollution of our land, water and air is the problem second only to climate change). Until then, I will start taking care of my cat food need at GreenStar and some online stores. Ithaca Pet & Grain is a store that I sorely miss after moving to Colorado. The staff was always friendly and eager to help me find what I needed, and I, along with all of Ithaca's other pet-oriented businesses, were allowed to advertise via flier or business card. The store focuses on providing natural, healthy diets with high-quality ingredients, and was the only place I could find Cell-Sorb bedding for my guinea pigs and hamsters. I can't find it anywhere in Denver, and the price was amazing at Ithaca Pet and Grain. I highly recommend that any pet lover living or driving through Ithaca stop by. My dog has literally jumped out of the car window for this place! Thank goodness there is a place in Ithaca that sell high quality dog food! They also have bulk treats and chews, toys that are reasonably priced, and friendly staff who stay friendly even when my shy pup spook barks or poops on the floor *sigh*. read more

I would give them 6 stars also, if I could. Very kind and knowledgable staff. The took a long time (on 2 separate visits) to talk and think through an issue I was having with my cat -- gave me various samples of food to try and offered to return the food I bought if it doesn't sit well with my cat. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of service I received. The store has a wonderful atmosphere and energy, high quality products, and great prices. During my first visit today, the staff were super friendly and knowledgable, and made informed, helpful decisions without trying to up-sell me. I left feeling as though I had been offered the best assistance for myself and my pet. The store is also adorable, and I love supporting an independent (and fairly-priced) store. This place is adorable and right down the street from my house. They had what I was looking for (doggie diapers... poor pet :( ) and were friendly and efficient. They also carry many *natural* products, such as carpet cleaners and pet deodorizers products. I'm happy any time I can support the local businesses and much prefer this place to PetSmart. read more

A great place to find food, treats, medications and supplements. They also have chicken feed! They cheerfully do special orders and give case discounts. Their prices are comparable to Petsmart, which gets away with a lot because people assume a big box must be cheaper. read more

The store is in a great location and a great building. Pulling in the parking lot surrounded by those old brick buildings feels like your stepping back in time and it's very relaxing and comforting - unlike the mall. The store itself is small but jam packed with high quality products. I was looking in particular for chew sticks for my dog and didn't want to buy the Made in China ones you find in all the stores. That stuff is poison. The IG&PS has high quality Made in the USA stuff. The staff is extremely pleasant. I didn't test their knowledge but have no doubt that they know what they're doing. And even if they don't, the extremely pleasant is good enough for me. If you want the best for your pet and a fun experience, pay them a visit. read more

What an amazing place! I'd give them six stars if I could. They had what I needed along with knowledge and thoughtful recommendations. My dog was newly adopted and a little scared. They took the bells off the door because they frightened her, helped me out to my car and gave us a chewy to try. I felt like they had all the time in the world to spend with me and my poor shell shocked little dog. I will recommend them to anyone who will listen. My favorite pet store - you can tell they all really love animals and want to provide the best quality food and products. The prices are reasonable and it's a local business that seems to be closely tied in to the community. Well-behaved leashed pets are welcome and the friendly staff typically offer some kind of treat from behind the counter (my two dogs love to visit). Great selection of food (like grain-free, organic, high-quality canned, etc). Also bulk biscuits, responsibly sourced bones, and fun toys that last! read more
