I am not satisfied with my experience at this hospital for several reasons. First of all, Dr…read more Purdy's bedside manner and demeanor are deplorable. When I first met with her to discuss the upcoming CT procedure on my cat, she was bizarrely upbeat, peppy, and cheerful when telling me that it was likely my cat had terminal cancer. I was completely taken aback and startled by the disconnect between what she was saying and how she was delivering that message. There was no compassion, empathy, or understanding that the message she was delivering was devastating - her demeanor was more in line with a positive, optimistic prognosis. In addition, she kept rearranging her hair and grooming her nails while talking to me about the looming death of my beloved pet and I just couldn't wait for her to leave the room. Later, when she called me to let me know the CT procedure was complete and my cat had woken up from sedation, she had the same peppy, cheerful attitude when telling me that the preliminary results were consistent with nasal lymphoma. She never once expressed condolences or acknowledged how upsetting this news would be. She never said anything like "I'm so sorry to deliver this news, this must be upsetting for you." She was annoyingly and inappropriately cheerful and peppy and bubbly. It was completely shocking and I could not believe what a terrible bedside manner she had. A few days later, she called me with the results of the CT and said that the images are consistent with nasal lymphoma, a terminal diagnosis as chemo/radiation are not financially feasible nor do I believe they will offer my cat any meaningful quality of life. Once again, her attitude, demeanor, and delivery were terrible and completely at odds with the somber and serious news she was delivering. Even when I choked up and started crying a little bit, she never expressed any compassion or empathy - she just continued on with her chipper and upbeat attitude. At one point, I mentioned how difficult it was to administer the pills that had been prescribed for my cat because he kept spitting them out and was starting to avoid me when I came towards him with the meds. In a bright and cheerful voice, she said "Yep I wouldn't be surprised if this interfered with your relationship with him and possibly shortened his lifespan!" I could not believe she said that - it made a difficult situation so march harder to handle. I have never experienced a healthcare professional with such a terrible ignorance and unawareness of their inappropriate demeanor. She needs very specific and targeted education and training on how to deliver bad news about her patients to their owners. Losing a pet is devastating and if she can't handle owners' emotions appropriately and carefully, she needs to find another job. I want to point out that I am a healthcare provider myself and I have had to deliver upsetting and sad news to patients many times over the course of my 20+ year career. I am ALWAYS aware of the impact of my demeanor and attitude on how my patients process what I'm saying. It's so important! Especially when bad news is being delivered, compassion for people's emotions should be TOP OF MIND!!! Finally, when I dropped my pet off in the morning, I was 100% clear that I wanted to be told about any and all "extras" that appeared on the invoice before anything additional was done. Dr. Purdy assured me that nothing additional or extra would be done without my permission. Later in the day, she called me during the CT scan procedure to say that a pharyngeal mass had also been identified (in addition to the nasal one) and asked if I gave my permission for this to be biopsied as well. She told me this would be an additional $400. I gave my consent and they moved forward. Later, when it came time to pay my bill there was a fee of $200 for the histopathology associated with this biopsy, which Dr. Purdy never told me about. She only said it would be $400 more. When I expressed my disappointment, nobody was willing to acknowledge that a mistake had been made. I spoke to the clinic manager and she just kept pointing to the "extras" listed on the original invoice as proof that it was ok to charge me this additional money, even when I told her that I had asked to be informed of all "extra" fees before anything was done. She then told me that they could just not send the tissue samples for histopathology, even though I would still have to pay $400 for the procedure. So in essence, I would have to pay $400 for nothing. After the upsetting interactions with Dr. Purdy described above, this added insult to injury and I just wanted to get out of there and go home and cry. I will not be coming back to this hospital if at all possible and I do not recommend it to anyone else.

Simone Yen and this office will never receive a recommendation or a request for service again. $300 for a blood work up and then another $883 for the procedure.This office took no responsibility and made us feel as if this was a lack of communication on our part. This office was notified that our dog was most probably pregnant and they waited a month to conduct the surgery so we could be charged more money. We were put on a wait list for the procedure and they never could fit us in. Knowing very well we were concerned she was already pregnant . I certainly hope this is not the case with everyone, but from my conversation with Simone she didn't care. If we could give them 0 stars we would!!!

As Demi's health deteriorated rapidly, it became clear that his quality of life was significantly compromised. We made the heart-wrenching decision to help him peacefully cross the Rainbow Bridge and promptly contacted your office to complete the necessary documentation for Stillwater. Despite emphasizing the critical nature of the situation, the paperwork was not processed in a timely manner. Our initial contact was made at 10:05 AM, during which we explained that Demi's condition had worsened significantly and that a veterinarian was scheduled to visit our home and required his medical records to proceed urgently. After an hour and a half without any update, we called back at 11:40 AM, only to be told by the receptionist that the paperwork would be ready within 30 minutes--time during which Demi continued to suffer. Compounding our distress, we later received communication from Stillwater indicating that our request for euthanasia had not been approved. It remains unclear what information was relayed by your office, but the evident lack of coordination and communication was both troubling and unacceptable. Under such circumstances, we believe it was imperative--and entirely appropriate--for the attending veterinarian to contact us directly to fully understand Demi's condition and the urgent need for expedited action. The overall management of this situation fell far short of the standard of care and compassion we expect from veterinary professionals. Consequently, we have decided not to return to your facility. We have shared our experience with family and friends. Entrusting veterinary teams with the care of our pets carries with it an expectation of timely, compassionate, and respectful treatment, as one would hope for their own animals. I encourage you to consider how you might feel if your own pet were in severe distress and faced delays or dismissiveness from your veterinary provider. The frustration and heartbreak we experienced during this ordeal reflect precisely such a scenario. Ultimately, Demi was lovingly assisted in crossing the Rainbow Bridge at 2:50 PM by a compassionate veterinarian who recognized the need for a peaceful and humane release. He is now free from pain and suffering--peace that should have been afforded to him sooner, had there been greater responsiveness and support from his care providers.

She called me three times each call was confusing. The first call was to say there's other applicants ahead of me and that when they were approved they would receive the cat. She at this point was just rude tell me it was such an inconvenience to be on hold with my vet for less then ten minutes and that she's already gone out of her way and is "jumping through hoops for me". By calling my vet and doing her job ??? Said I'd need call them and have them fax over the info for my car I already have she was yelling at me cutting me off nonstop. Said my cat wasn't vaccinated. So at this point I gave up she has been nothing but rude yelling at me not letting me speak over simple fixes like resending the application. She called me a third time not sure why said she had reached out to my vet again and still nothing. She then cut me off and said I had been cutting her off, yelling and being disrespectful. I actually began to cry because she was speaking to me in such a rude way. All I had done was try and be polite and work with her. I never yelled at her or was disrespectful. At this point I said I wasn't interesting in adopting anymore. I will from now on avoid the cat sanctuary. I've never been treated like that..
