Following my long-standing habit--and because every previous employee here had told me it was acceptable--I removed the clothes so I could use the machine. Upon returning later, an employee named Cookie aggressively approached me. She initiated the interaction with an extremely hostile and nasty attitude, accusing me of lacking "common courtesy." I calmly explained that my action was not intentional but simply habit, based on past permissions from staff. Staff were clear and friendly in helping me schedule the service, and my three weeks worth of laundry was done in a day! With my socks matched! I am incredibly grateful. If he had come in and said "Hello miss, I'm Dennis and I own this shop. I'd appreciate if you could keep that cart empty it's a policy we have" I would have apologized and immediately removed my belongings myself. I am a young woman, I wonder if Dennis would have been as confident and comfortable treating a man the way he treated me.
