I just ate there - honest review coming. This a is a hole-in-the-wall, no-frills gem. It's definitely the best BBQ I've tried in Ventura County because it's authentic Texas BBQ. The brisket was tender and flavorful. I'd give the brisket sandwich a solid A. It's below the very best of Texas BBQ, but that means it's fantastic. Beans are an A+. You'll find beans that are different but not better. They have the right amount of pork, and they're bursting with flavor. The coleslaw gets a C. It's normal coleslaw. The peach cobbler gets a D. It arrived luke-warm instead of hot, the peaches tasted canned (I'm from GA, so I know good peaches), and the ice cream wasn't good on its own. The ice cream was also so frozen it was difficult to scoop, especially with the plastic spoon. Go there for the brisket sandwich and beans, and you'll want to come back over and over again. I will. Next time, I'll just skip the dessert. Lastly, the service was friendly. The employees genuinely care about the food. read more

We had breakfast next door & loved the smell coming from this place & decided it was our next lunch adventure. Before walking in we were greeted by a lovely employee on break who said we had to try the cobbler & ice cream. She was NOT wrong! Walked in and the place was filled with happy customers who were looking sharp & a joy to talk too. Crazy we hadn't even ordered yet & we loved this place. You order at a walk up window. The cashier was happy to help us pick a plate with a great variety to try out a bunch of delectable meats. The burnt ends were my favorite, but everything had a great hint of smoke. The hot links were flavorful without burning your lips off. Both BBQ sauces were delicious, but I stuck with spicy for the win. Mac and cheese was delish. The slaw was the least amazing, but it is cabbage & never my side of choice. Everything was served to go & you can picnic outside or there are a handful of tables inside. This place is about the food & not the ambience. Other businesses on the property park their fleet right in front making it look like it's crowded when it's not. Absolutely a winner. Wow. I went here for the first time today - my brother told me the food was great and it's the only BBQ he gets in Oxnard. So I was hungry and BBQ sounded like it would it the spot! I went in and figured I'd just order a hodgepodge of items (that I like) and let it what it'll be. I ordered the brisket plate, came with a side I picked collard greens. Comes with a piece of garlic bread. I added on a hot link, Mac N cheese and a peach cobbler with ice cream. Bwwoooiiii when I got home and started eating....straight fire! The brisket was tender, juicy and peppery. I love that subtle hint of peppery spice! I asked for mine to come with the spicy barbecue sauce which they do pack on the side and a small container. So I decided to try it with the barbecue sauce it just elevated it to the next level. Next I tried the hot link which hot link is usually just a hot link, and they prepared there's perfectly it wasn't spicy and it tasted I'm really good. I tried the macaroni and cheese as it's one of my favorite dishes. They make it with a rigatoni type pasta I believe and it's single serve, and I absolutely love it you can tell it is handmade and baked. Not the creamy Style either. The collard greens were seasoned perfectly, they have a delicious Smokey flavor from the meat that they cook in there with it. The spicy and the regular barbecue sauces no complaints on either one. Spicy was not too spicy either. As for the bread it is just a general piece of bread roll Style, I like to dip mine in the barbecue sauce and it just compliments everything so good especially if you tuck a little piece of meat inside of it. Now let's talk about this Peach cobbler. First of all It's in the Sauce if you're reading this, go on ahead and double the price on that thang! Wow! So so so good! You legit get your own personal sized pie. It's handmade you can tell, and it's just divine. The crust is absolutely perfect the pie is not too sweet and when you eat it with the vanilla ice cream it's just absolutely savory. On to the customer service, the gal at the register is pleasant to the hilt. She is friendly, attentive and a special touch she uses your name (she asks for it) when she is interacting with you. I haven't left a review on any restaurant in a long time and this one is absolutely worthy of it so if you would like some delicious Texas style barbecue support this amazing small business right here in Oxnard California. They deserve all of the accolades that they have received so far and more. I will absolutely be back, when my friends come I will bring them there when my family comes I will bring them there as well. I can't wait to go back and try out some of the other delicious meats that they offer. And maybe I'll switch it up and pick some different sides too but I don't know these ones were so good LOL! My son and I were craving BBQ for lunch today. We had two options. Having been to the other place before, we decided to try It's in the Sauce BBQ--so glad we did!!! We ordered the CaliTex and brisket sandwiches along with potato salad and collard greens sides. Our order arrived quickly. All of our choices were amazing!!! The sandwiches were generous with heaping piles of tender, juicy ohmygoodness. The spicy BBQ sauce had a nice kick, but not overwhelming. We placed a few takeout orders to share with the rest of the family; however, I forgot to order my peach cobbler. I must do a shoutout to Patricia--she's so precious!!! She made it a point to ask our names and she remembered our names too--we felt very welcomed. We'll have to return for the cobbler and say hi to Patricia and the rest of the bunch someday soon. read more

Loved my tri tip. Only problem was they give you a very small container of their sauce. I liked the taste of their sauce. But once you put that itty bitty little container of sauce on your meat you can barely taste it. So if you do order from here make sure you order Xtra sauce. Or the little container they give you will not do the job. It is not big enough to cover the meat they give you. Don't get my review wrong I loved the food, I just think they need to give more sauce then what they do. PS. One of the best potato salads around. read more

I got the tri tip sandwich with Mac and cheese. The tri tip was too peppery for me but was juicy and the bread was super good! The Mac and cheese was pretty good too! My husband got the 3 meat plate with baby back ribs, brisket, and pulled pork with chili beans. He said the ribs were old and gross. The brisket was good. And the pulled pork was the best. I tasted the pulled pork and it is very rich! Chili beans were not good. He also got the whole chicken special for $10 and really liked the chicken. We got a side of potato salad as it was the worker's recommendation. I am not sure how I felt about it. Strong pickle taste and also had bell peppers and celery in it. Had the 3 combo plate. Cali tex mix hot link and ribs. For my taste just a bit salty, probably fine for others. Spicy q sauce was good. Mac n cheese was good and the bake beans were tasty as well. The peach cobbler, is definitely a must try. I'm definitely full and didn't even finish the whole thing. If you have a bbq taste, give it try. The 2 young ladies were very hospitable. Celebrated Juneteenth by ordering bbq from It's In The Sauce BBQ. We ordered the tri-tip, with a side of collard greens, and ribs with a side of coleslaw. The collard greens were rich and flavorful, with a surprising kick to them. The tritip was impossibly tender, and great both as is and with the sauce. The ribs were smokey, with a tasty rub, and pretty easy to get off the bone. And the coleslaw was refreshing and somewhat sweet, perfectly complementing the rest of the meal. We also got the peach cobbler, which came with a side of vanilla ice cream.The crust was perfectly flaky, and the filling had good texture, and was not overly sweet. A friend recommended Wayne's place, and having owned and operated 3 BBQ joints of my own, I couldn't wait to get there! The young lady who took our order couldn't have been more friendley, and James, who was manning the smoker today, was awesome. Ribs were perfect, soft and tender, coming off, but not falling off, the bone! The brisket was tender and juicy, and our slaw and mac & cheese just great. Best BBQ sauce!! Quality smoked meats and delish sides. My family & I visited this spot for my husband's Birthday. I ordered the brisket sandwich with mac n cheese, and my family ordered Tri-Tip and Ribs. The food was tasty and tender. I also sampled the smoked chicken, really good! The best part though was when we mentioned it was my husband's birthday, they were excited to hear that we made a stop into their BBQ joint, the guy brought us out some Peach Cobbler and ice cream. We were super impressed with the tenderness and smoky flavor of the chicken, and we received a good portion of it for the price. We also loved the bbq sauce (note that there is a charge for extra sauces). The mac n cheese stood out among the sides, but they were all good.
