Were from long beach, Ca and we were driving the coastline today and landed in Oxnard, Ca. We decided to visit a restaurant called 'Its In the Sauce' The customer service was amazing from the beautiful cashier. We had a brisket sandwich, hot link sandwich, a 3 meat plate that came with 2 sides and peach cobbler with ice cream. I've attached pictures. The food was great. I've driven by this place many times but never took the time to stop by. My son and I drove by on a recent weekday afternoon near closing time. I decided to check it out since I didn't feel like cooking at home. Their set up is nothing fancy, there is a menu on the wall next to their order/pick up window. The menu includes the usual bbq meats and sides and there are a few seats inside and some picnic tables outside. We both ordered their special for that day which was the pulled chicken sandwich and a side. The young girl at the window took our order with the warmest smile and her hospitality alone made me want to support this business again without even tasting the food. Again, this was near closing and she was still so friendly and patient after dealing with customers all day. Our to-go order was ready in less than 10 minutes with sauce, napkins, and forks in the bag along with two generously portioned plates of food. We loved our mac n cheese and the chicken sandwiches were yummy w plenty of chicken, pickles, and cheese. The spicy bbq sauce was delicious with the perfect amount of spice, I wished I'd gotten an extra one - not because they don't give you enough but because it was so tasty I simply wanted more. We shared a slice of 7up cake and it was good but a little dry for my liking. I'm glad we finally tried this place and we will definitely be back to taste all the meats, sides, and dessert cobblers. We usually go to the large much more expensive chain restaurants for bbq because I hadn't found anywhere else that I liked but now I know about this place and it's close to home. Yummy! read more

Super glad we came here this evening after a 2.5 hour workout. Sauces are spicy and regular. The spicy sauce is my favorite it has a definite kick, not for whimps. Dinner was baby back ribs, burnt ends and pulled pork. All three of the meats were flavorful, cooked to perfection and tasted excellent. Our sides were chili beans and coleslaw . I am not much into coleslaw, this coleslaw was really good. Our dinner included a three meat plate split between two and we are heading home with leftovers. Definitely worth the money to get a 3 meat for a couple of people. We will be back! There is a lot more on the menu that we have not yet tried. This is the BBQ legends are made of. This is a legend in itself. It really is in the sauce and it's the best sauce I've ever had. It's incredible. I've had some great BBQ coming from Santa Maria, CA however when it comes to more traditional BBQ such as Texas BBQ that's not commonly found. If you're anywhere in Central Coast, CA this is the best BBQ period. I've traveled to Compton for another commonly touted BBQ place - nah. Not as good as this place. I discovered IITSBBQ back in 2011 when the Ventura location was still open. Legendary. I was more recently craving some quality BBQ and sought out IITSBBQ again. Unfortunately that old Ventura location is now some crummy burger joint. And it appears that this Oxnard location is closed as well alas the BBQ lives forever because legends never die. IITSBBQ operated out of a food truck that is mostly only operative at special events and/or on weekends at the Mobile gas station in Oxnard. There is an effigy of a man BBQing that helps point it out. Absolutely worth the trouble of driving miles to achieve. It's In The Sauce, it really is. Amazing. Trust me. read more

I'm very biased when it comes to BBQ, being a native Texan, so my expectations were low when it came to trying this spot...and I am so glad I was proved wrong! This place knows exactly what they're doing serving Texas style bbq! I was pleasantly surprised with how beautifully marbled the brisket was and the size of the beef ribs! Wow. This is one of the best BBQ places I have ever eaten at, period. The service was pleasant and fast, while the food was insanely good. The tritip sandwich was sliced thin, while being incredibly juicy, and the bun tasted homemade. It was prepared with a slight crisp on the inside and a warm doughy exterior. I recommend their spicy BBQ sauce, which is only slightly spicy so that it doesn't cover the flavor, but makes it more exciting. You can't go wrong with the baked beans, which were the best I've ever had- sweet, with soft, juicy pieces of meat mixed in. To top it off, the apple/pear cobbler was amazing. It was gourmet, next level and looked like a mini pie. If only I lived closer so I could enjoy this more often! read more

Tried the chicken, baby back ribs, burnt ends and brisket. Out of all those the chicken and ribs were the best. The burnt ends were NOT burnt ends. Not sure what they're trying to do with those. The brisket is very thinly sliced and was a bit fatty. It is not what you are used to with traditional brisket. The sides I tried were mac and cheese and potato salad. Both of those were good. Not a fan of the barbecue sauce. I recommend Kinder's sauces. As there are not too many barbecue places around I would go back and try some of the other meat options. If you enjoy barbecue food then you must do yourself a favor and try this outstanding place. It is primarily a catering operation and is housed in an industrial section of Oxnard. But on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday - from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. - they have a window for to-go orders (and there are a few tables available to eat there). The lady at the to-go window, Patricia, is very hospitable. I had the tri-tip sandwich with (not that) spicy (but excellent) barbecue sauce, barbecue baked beans, and collard greens. On the day of the event he arrived on time and started preparing the best tasting tri-tip and brisket mix, chicken breast, slaw, BBQ beans, and mac and cheese that all my neighbors and I have ever eaten.
