My family had dinner and celebrated a birthday there on Monday, August 13,2018. We had many apps and ordered dinner. When the dinner came out we were full so we wrapped up the dinners to take home. For some reason some people look at me like a freak when I say this, but my favorite candy in the world is banana-flavored runts. At most candy places if I want to get my fix of banana-flavored runts I have to obnoxiously pick them out of the runts scoopbox. It is very hard for me to get my hands on this candy. For anyone out there who has the same problem as me, this store is your savior. This is the ONLY place I know of that has a scoopbox exclusively dedicated to banana-flavored runts (they may not be actual runts brand but look and taste just like them). Do you not buy candy in tourist areas? I have no complaints. I had a coupon book from the desk at the Pier Shops because I am an AAA member so I got a discount on my purchase. It's just a candy store. Big selection of jelly Beans and M&Ms, that everybody seems to be going nuts over. It's always really crowded in there. Some of the parents let their kids walk around unattended and they stick their dirty hands into the bin instead of using the scoops. Something to be aware of. However, they do have moderately priced chocolate covered strawberries . Skip their ice cream and walk to the end of the Pier stores and just go to Eden Gourmet where you can get some awesome gelato. "Like a kid in a candy shop" rang true for real in this place. Gummy candy is my weakness and I managed to not overdo it. Got a nice mixture of some of my favorites from the loose candy bins. Also made a little bag of jelly belly's (beer flavor anyone? It's meh). I would suggest they have more people roaming the floor to make sure dirty little kids aren't sticking their hands in the bin but other then that all was good here. Note: an employee did have to reprimand a little girl for using her hands. Thank you employee! So many fun themed items, toys and other knickknacks. It's bigger and the staff is friendly and knowledgable (we asked where a particular kind of European chocolate was and you could have knocked me over with a feather when the teenager behind the counter actually knew where it was and escorted me). Also it's in the pier with other interesting shops so when you are done you can explore more. My kids could spend hours deliberating In here so luckily they play 80s and 90s music to keep the parents entertained. read more

Candy was and looked really good. -BUT- My friend went to buy a hello kitty bag for $48 dollars. It was priced clearly at 48 dollars to which the cashier rings it up and it says 58. He didn't even notice this little slip. My friend asked if it was $48 or $58 to which he rudely replied, it says 58 on the screen. To which my friend retorted that it said $48 dollars on the price tag. He then backed off and went to run to get his manager. The same process happened again as she rudely said it 58 and didn't even apologize. She didn't even check until my friend pointed out that it said it on the price tag and she just said sorry, it's ringing up as 58, we can't do anything. I don't know how they do things in Jersey, but in California (I work retail) we have to honor the price that it's marked. All the bags were marked at that price. I love IT'SUGAR! I see that some reviewers below have complained about the price of the candy, but after all, this is a giant candy store in the shopping mall of a casino...so, it's pretty expected. The thing that I really love about this store is that they have a lot of novelty and hard to find items. The lay out is pretty cool too. There are candy statues like a giant gummy bear, a replica of Lucy the Elephant(a giant elephant landmark in Barnegat, NJ) made of jellybeans, etc. There are all sorts of gummy candies, packages of half pound Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, one pound gummy bears, retro candy, mints, candy themed t-shirts, bags, pillows, a huge selection of candy and junk food flavored lip glosses as well as random novelties like adhesive mustaches, bacon flavored toothpicks, pirate/bacon/pickle/etc band aids, cupcake dental floss, you get the idea... The only down sides are that the upper level that has a counter where you can decorate your own candy bar with candy that you pick out from the main level...way overpriced overkill if you ask me, but fun for some I suppose...has been roped off for ages. And....my biggest beef....for which the store loses one star...the ever expanding adult candy section that is not visibly separated from the rest of the store. I witnessed young children wandering around and happening upon graphically erotic lollipops, pasta, mints, edible panties and bras, body chocolate and sprays... I just feel that this is in bad taste. Yes, Atlantic City isn't geared toward children, however, a candy store, especially a giant, colorful, cutely merchandised store with huge candy statues that will basically have any child pulling their parents through the door and most parents obliging due to lack of things to do with kids in AC should at the very least have some sort of sign over the adult section....?
