I'm so happy with our results after working with Tessa at Bayou City Breastfeeding…read more After my daughter was born, she wasn't gaining any weight, despite breastfeeding constantly. For 3 weeks I tried everything (nursing every 1.5-2 hours even through the night) but she still wasn't gaining. I was told just to switch to formula, but I desperately wanted to breastfeed. We called Tessa and upon her first exam, she noticed baby had a tongue and lip tie and a shallow latch, and hence, she hadn't been able to trigger good milk production. I was only producing 2 oz per feed. Tessa recommended an ENT that fixed baby's tongue and lip tie, taught us some mouth exercises to improve baby's latch, and gave me a one week pumping plan to get my supply up. After just week, I went up to producing 6-8 oz each session. We worked with Tessa for about six weeks (we chose to do house visits). Each time she would come and weigh baby (before and after feeds), watch me breastfeed, examine baby's latch, do mouth/tongue exercises with baby, and check how her lip and tongue were healing/functioning after the release. Happy to report that after our work with Tessa, baby gained all the weight she needed to and is back on her growth curve! We now have a wonderful, super easy time breastfeeding. Highly highly recommend!
