At first I thought it would be awkward having someone watch me breastfeed and critiquing me but it was not like that at all, she made me feel right at home and like she was a close friend who really understood how badly I wanted to breastfeed. She is so professional and easy to talk to, she is so knowledgeable and informative, you can tell she loves her job and is truly genuine and wants to help. And my insurance paid for her to come to my house, it was 100% free to me which I was shocked but very pleased! Both of my children had tongue ties and my daughter has a lip tie as well. I went to a free breastfeeding class at the hospital because my nipples were cracked and bleeding and I had such a sharp shooting pain when I tried to nurse. My nipples were so bad that the nurse told me I needed to pump and bottle feed her until they healed. After that I was a little discouraged because I was afraid that I may not be able to continue to breastfeed or that my daughter would prefer the bottle and then not take the breast. That's when I was looking for more help and contacted Itty Bitties and had Nicole come to my house. She showed me techniques to get her to latch, different positions to breastfeed her in, as well as exercises that I could do with her to help. She also showed me the tongue and lip tie and explained what my options were and made sure I was understanding her. I don't normally write reviews but I read so many mommy blogs and so much on google about breastfeeding and getting your baby to latch and it really helped reading reviews, experiences and posts that I wanted to leave one on here for any other new mother who is reaching out and looking for help like I was. Definitely give them a call because it really is nice to have help, especially if breastfeeding is important to you and you really want to make it work but you or your baby are struggling with it. My healthy baby girl is 6 months old and she is absolutely perfect! One thing that stood out was the level of education and training that Megan has achieved. She was able to quote scientific research and compare data and fact-based findings with proven theories in order to help me to make research-based decisions about my pregnancy and birthing plan. She is unbelievably accommodating and patient focused but she places patient safety and patient education at the forefront of her priorities. I felt confident in every decision made because they were all made collaboratively. I know this isn't the typical rainbows and unicorns review that is expected about child birth. But childbirth is to be taken seriously and it is important to choose a midwife like Megan who has the perfect mixture of an extensive background in traditional medicine, a nuturing demeanor, knowledge of alternative practices, and a passion for assisting mothers in having the birthing experience of their choice. I am a very busy investor with high expectations. My analytical nature often finds room for improvement or constructive criticism for anyone or anything. She is connected in a way that is indescribable. She literally got to me on time and, prepped us, and was so easy to trust. From day 1 she was available for any questions that I had. She frequently checked in to see how I was doing. She also met with me and my husband several times and showed him different techniques for labor support. Priscilla is also a licensed massage therapist and that was a huge bonus for me both during pregnancy and during labor.
