My recent visit to the European Wax Center in Gainesville, Florida was fabulous. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The intake person was very friendly and accommodating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The wait was short, but comfortable in a beautiful, clean setting. The music was very nice, perfect volume. The beautifully packaged before and aftercare products were tastefully displayed on a lit wall so you could look at the various offerings and ask about them while you were having your services. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In a short time, my technician Aeriyana came out. The first thing I noticed besides how well she presented herself with her friendly introduction was her smile.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]She took me back to her suite, walking side by side in time with me as I was walking slow due to prior surgery. I didn't feel rushed in any way.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She held the door open for me and after a bit of light banter over what skin care products they offered up front, I was on the table and ready for my brows. Her room was very clean, as was her workstation and utensil set up. She was meticulous, with every last little stray hair plucked, waxed and a skin finish put on. My armpits were done next, with the same meticulous care as the brows. Painless and efficient, yet made me feel like she had spent hours on me. There was absolutely no pain and the treatment sites didn't even get red or irritated. Needless to say, of all of the spas I have been to over the years, this was by far the best experience, ever. Also noteworthy, your first visit with them is free, and they offer a free service for your birthday month. Although single visits are already reasonably affordable, they have a package plan that makes having my two procedures done together next time less than 40 bucks. That's not a lot of money to treat yourself and have this kind of upscale experience. Extremely disappointed. Although the staff was nice and the place was very clean, the service was not as good. I made an appointment because it had good reviews and they had a promotion going on for a free service due to the staff undergoing through retraining. I should have known retraining had to be due to staff not knowing what they were doing. I got my eyebrows and sideburns waxed with Denise. Denise was very friendly and sweet and did a great job on my eyebrows however she completely screwed up my sideburns. Not only did she rip off the wax 3 times, she missed several spots and made my skin bleed. She didn't even apologize, all she said was bleeding is common since sideburn hair is thick and to take ibuprofen for the pain and redness. I've had my sideburns waxed before and never have I bled. Upon checking out the receptionist asked how my experience had been and when I told her she was in shock and stayed quiet. She quickly checked me out and avoided all eye contact. I will definitely not be returning here and I hope I don't wake up tomorrow to bruised sideburns as I am in a lot of pain now and my sideburns are red as a tomato. read more

I have a pain tolerance of -99 and she is quick, thorough, and knowledgable. I went to a previous specialist at this EWC and felt like she was re-waxing the same skin over and over, just to go home and still have to do maintenance myself on stray hairs. But Deanna? Go to her. This place was such a disappointment. I saw someone named Ruth for a Brazilian wax. I'm not sure if she is new at this or what but I have been getting waxed for over 6 years and this was my worst experience ever. First off, she had me undress and re-dress in the room in front of her which I thought was a little odd but whatever. Waxing sucks all the way around but she seemed nice and like she was trying to make light conversation. She mentioned that most people think their waxing style hurts much less. I thought yeah maybe so. She finished up in about the average time for any of my other waxes. Sadly, I didn't inspect the area since I was dressing in front of her. But never the less she left at least half the hair there. When I got home I said to myself yeah....no wonder why it hurts less. Ugh. Not happy and it wasn't just fine or short hairs left behind. I'm not sure how she felt this was even close to acceptable but I will definitely not be back. read more

The two ladies of the desk were very friendly and very informative about all the products they sell and also promotions. The office itself it's also very clean with a good ambience. needless to say my heart was in my throat but Allison made my first time and absolute breeze!! Honestly!! Everyone has different responses to pain so I cannot say that it will or it won't hurt. However for myself it did not hurt as bad as I thought it would (took two Tylenol an hour before I went in by the way). Allison has great conversation, was very quick and explained every single thing that she was doing; well skilled in what she does. I've been coming here for about a year and I have only left disappointed once. It's pretty easy to get an appointment and rescheduling if needed is a breeze. I have seen Allison and Denise and they're both amazing! Allison is efficient and so sweet. Denise walks you through the appointment and is very informative. The only thing I don't like is when I check out they always try to get you to buy the wax pass. So after the first time I went in everything started to go downhill... I bought all the products they told me to buy. I kept getting wax burn on my lip and when I called to let them know they just told me to buy another product. It's like the front desk staff is just trained to sell products. I've been going there for a couple months and never really get ingrown hairs or anything and now all of a sudden even while using the products nothing works. The front desk just tells me the manager will call me but no one ever does. I was also told to stick to one wax specialist because changing waxers can promote ingrown hair which made absolutely no sense. I'm very disappointed. read more
