Our community recently purchased 100 trees from Ivandale Farm. Jesse was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about all of the tree varieties at their farm. When substitutions were made, we told him our specifications/limitations and took his recommendations, making sure to cross-reference them with our own research and other professionals we were working with. All were in agreement. Our installation was guided by a professional design plan created for our community. Jesse and his crew worked and communicated well with our Landscaping Committee to implement the design together. They were patient with our community's installation process, and installed the trees in the order WE needed them installed based on that day's circumstances. We were impressed how they worked with us to make sure we were satisfied even when one or two tree placements did not work out as we had planned. Where our community truly received the biggest advantage was in the value of the trees. All of the trees are natively grown on Ivandale's tree farm in northern VA's climate, which we was an advantage Ivandale had over other vendors. The other added bonus was the overall size of the trees we received. We were pleasantly surprised to receive such large and healthy looking trees for the prices we paid. They have made quite a big impression in our neighborhood. With that said, some of the trees were unfortunately smaller than requested. However, we feel the accommodations they made for us and the significantly larger size of most all other trees more than made up for this deficiency. We cannot speak to the 1 year warranty which is part of our contract at this time. However, we feel confident this company will treat us more than fairly regarding their warranty next year. We give them a solid 4.5 to 5 star review based on our recent experiences. read more

After moving into a new property six months ago which needed complete landscaping, based on a referral from a colleague, I contacted Ivandale Farms. The arborist who returned my call, Jesse, was very friendly to work with, and extremely knowledgeable about plants and trees we discussed; I also appreciated his directional assistance planning my yard design according to memories of my youth, growing up on a hobby farm here in hunt-country Virginia. I ended up purchasing five gorgeous, pink-flowering (Kwanzan) cherry trees; two white, silky-flowering (Merlot) magnolias; a white-flowering (Chinese) dogwood; and numerous forsythia, rose Fiji tea roses Nikko-blue hydrangeas, and of course, boxwood. I must say, my yard has been completely transformed and needless to say.....I love it! When his crew planted, they were quick and efficient, tying down all the trees and then mulching, and afterward spraying with Jesse's organic "tree-tea" solution. While they were here, Jesse also pruned my apple tree, and so this fall I'm looking forward to having some gorgeous, delicious apples! After a record-long winter season, now that spring is finally here in Virginia... my trees and shrubs are blooming vibrantly and beautifully! I get compliments from everyone who visits! I will be adding more trees to my property soon, and have contacted Jesse to discuss further additions. I've worked with Ivandale Farms for 10 years, though in various capacities. The owner, Frank, is an attorney, whose legal abilities are par-none. Though he has a busy schedule at the law office, he also receives all phone calls for tree sales (at which time I'm assuming he passes them to his manager, Jesse). OK, yes, Frank can come across as "curt," but that is simply his communication style. Consider this: If you're like me, you'd prefer someone to give you the facts and get right to the point, rather than waste your time and "woo" you with fluffy small talk, right? And this is what it comes down to: quality products that are clearly discussed and then expeditiously delivered, right? NO HASSLE. The tree manager (I think his name is Jesse), by the way, is an absolute sweetheart, and I can tell you, he gets the job DONE! Last year, he planted over 10 trees at our home in less than one hour's time, and today they are thriving. I just wanted to pass all of this along. I've read a few of the negative reviews on this business, and frankly, I don't know what these people are talking about. We are a single family who purchased five trees from Ivandale last spring. The man who planted them took great care while doing so and he staked the trees down. Honestly, our trees have absolutely THRIVED, growing over three feet in one year. I did have Jesse come back at one point because one of our trees was losing leaves, but he explained to me that a tree can lose its leaves three times before the tree considers itself dead, that this tree was just "in shock." He sprayed some special solution on the roots of the tree and dug out the mulch volcano which had developed due to my over-watering of the tree (woops :) and I swear, in less than 2 weeks, this tree, along with the others, looked FANTASTIC. I find this business to be prompt, reliable and a provider of very professional and personalized service. Don't pay attention to any negative reviews. We have worked with Ivandale Farm for over 7 years, and highly recommend them for caring for residential trees. Jesse takes great care of our trees (typically trims for us in spring and fall); he brought a Maple back that got struck by lightening before we inherited it, and since we've lived here, we haven't had any branches break during storms, even the fragile Bartlett Pears (the majority of our neighbors have not been that lucky). Two years ago, we went to the farm and picked out a 6' Crepe Myrtle on their recommendation for an area of our backyard that gets a/c drain off (the excess water killed the previous tree). It is thriving and about 15' now, and Jesse recently offered to buy it back because it's so darn beautiful and healthy (I said no way!). We have been using Ivandale Farms for the past 2 years and have had great success. We moved to Hamilton and were doing landscaping for our new home. We went over to Ivandale and Jesse came out and greeted us - drove over to our home and spent a few hours helping us decide on what we wanted and where we wanted it. Everything we ordered was brought over and planted in a timely manner. Everything is still living and thriving. We have been back several times for more trees and plants. Just this weekend we bought 3 more trees and some more grass plants. Jesse has been to our home over a dozen times just to check on things and help us decide on new items. I recently moved to Loudoun from a big city in California (its initials are "L.A." ;) ), so living in the country is a big change for me. I love Ivandale farm so much. I bought a tree in May but it died through my own fault. I called up to order a new one and signed a contract. so many nice people who work there. Today, Jesse drove all the way back to my home in DC and removed the old tree and planted a new one. no charge. and it wasn't even their fault. Have used Jesse and Ivandale for years now to populate my quarter acre lot. They are the best! They make excellent recommendations (follow them!). They noticed and gave me fungus killer for My Neighbor's trees FOR FREE while installing some other plants on my property. We ordered a bunch of trees from Ivandale in the spring of this year (2015). During this process, Jesse was very helpful and helped us pick the trees from the farm. Unfortunately because of HOA restrictions, the order had to be cancelled. When this happened, we were promptly and completely refunded our full deposit (as per the clause in our agreement).
