I'm not sure how there are so many positive reviews. I get massages at least twice a month, but my person is on maternity leave right now so I decided to give this spa a try. I booked a hot stone massage, but when I arrived I was told they couldn't do hot stone. That should've been my cue to leave. But I was undressed and on the table when I was told this change. The massage was extremely painful and aggressive, especially on my legs -- it felt like punching. They did check in about pressure, but even after I said it was too much, they immediately went back to the same painful technique. The room was cold, the draping was inadequate (just a thin strip of a sheet that didn't cover my whole body), and there were loud cleaning noises outside the room for much of the massage. It was so loud that it was impossible to relax. Checkout was chaotic -- they insisted I had a membership I don't have and seemed confused about how to charge me. Overall, completely unprofessional and not relaxing at all. My massage did not resemble a standard licensed massage experience in the U.S. Would not recommend. read more

I have frequented Ivy for years on and off. It's in the Village right of Cbad Village a few blocks after you get off the freeway on the Westside. Everyone I have had is great. Loved Amy before now Coco is my go to. The take card and cash but there is a card fee. 90 minutes of the good stuff is $110. Private lot in the back with a convenient door. I went to Ivy Spa early last year after straining my shoulder and pulling some muscles in my legs from softball. I also had some extreme tightness in my feet and legs from marathon training and soreness in my shoulder and back. It was the closest place near my work's office, so I scheduled a 1-hour session in advance. The therapist was very professional and skilled, and we spoke very little. I actually wish I had gotten the ninety minute massage afterwards. The massage hurt only when the therapist massaged the tightness in my legs, but it was well worth it. I felt a lot better about a day or 2 afterwards like with other massages. I wish I could remember the therapist's name, because I would go back. They didn't leave their name in the booking or take mine. That would be my only complaint. I went to check the location and realized that I never left my review from April last year. read more

Booked a couples massage a couple days ago and it was honestly amazing. My massage therapist name was CoCo and I am going to request her every time going forward. I was in so much back pain before our session and I had a nasty migraine all day I was so stressed and in so much pain, after our session my back pain was completely gone, migraine gone, stress gone. It was such a relief. I am not sure what massage therapist my boyfriend had but he said it was the best massage he's ever had. We will definitely be back. I am updating and adding stars solely based on the spa's customer service. They called me and offered for me to come back so they could do some kind of therapy for my pain but I live two hours away and had already left town so that was not an option for me. They also offered to refund me, which I declined because I felt guilty accepting it. It was partially my fault for not speaking up during the massage. I appreciate their efforts to fix the issue. However, this could have been avoided if the spa had better communication with me beforehand and I hope they make improvements going forward. If you still decide to go here, I would suggest talking with your masseuse before the massage starts and explaining your preferences, and maybe you will have a better experience than me. read more

I stumbled across Ivy Spa when I was trying to use some Class Pass credits. Happy accident! I want to preface by saying that if you're modest in any way you should be clear what you do and don't want massaged. This in NO WAY means that there is anything inappropriate happening here. I just know that some people (primarily us prudish Americans) can be uncomfortable with our bodies in a way most other cultures are not. I was cured of this with my first massage in Bali. My favorite of all time anywhere masseuse, Agung, gave me a thorough massage that might have doubled as a mammogram... so I'm not squeamish when it comes to a solid therapeutic massage. I say all of this as a reference point to my comfort in the booty kneading I got at Ivy. This is something that I welcomed, as I have gluteus MAX pain and need the deep tissue work. I also say all of this so that when you go into this spa you should be specific about your own comfort level with your masseuse. They are wonderful and I wholeheartedly recommend them! read more

Maybe I just have high standards because back in my hometown, my masseuse was a teacher for a massage therapy school, but this was the worst massage I've ever gotten. Rubbing your forearm up my back and to into my neck repeatedly is not a massage. Left 20 mins into it, still paid, but came out in more much more pain, wasn't relaxed one minute of it, the first 10 mins it felt like there was a dime sized amount of lotion on her hand so that hurt, I didn't even know the masseuse's name, and the lack of knowledge of the body and it's muscles and how they run was insane. Not to mention the sheets to cover you were see through... I could honestly go on. Thank goodness I have good friends that could make me laugh about it hours later, but this was a horrible experience. read more

if it's my first time at a massage place, i always do 30 minutes just to gauge the skill and quality of the parlor. i will definitely be back for a longer massage after this! i mentioned in the beginning how my main issues were upper back/shoulders/neck and jolie paid great attention to these parts. i don't get massages often so there were some spots i was more sensitive/ticklish -- still felt great but my body would jolt. she stopped and asked if she was going too hard (which she wasn't) and i thought it was so sweet of her to check in with me. overall perfect pressure and strength. my entire body is relaxed, jolie massaged every part of my body while still keeping in mind my requests. the head massage felt so great! i will for sure be back! read more

Just got a massage from Mary, the latest addition to the talented staff at Ivy Spa. Mary is attractive, attentive, and has a happy demeanor. Her massage skills are great, and she concentrated on the areas giving me pain very effectively (sciatic nerve pain, lower back and glutes, hands and wrists). I loved her strong, long and deep strokes (much preferred to the "pushing" type massage given by typical Chinese masseuse). She did a fantastic job on my very arthritic wrists and hands, as well as my right knee and calf muscle. Mary must have been a Doctor in another life, as I felt her healing powers and left refreshed and with reduced pain in my problem areas. This review is five stars because of what an amazing massage therapist Coco is. I need very deep work on the suboccipital muscles in my neck to alleviate gnarly tension headaches and Coco knows how it's done. In addition, I have chronic pain and Coco always seems to find what is ailing me that particular week whether it's low back or neck. She works on, and knows, the meridians too and she does accupressure on those. I need regular massages for my pain and she is able to do the type of deep pressure that alleviates that pain. (So many therapists don't or can't do the type of deep work I need. She is a godsend.) This place is right by my office in the village and I love that they are open late. It was nice and clean inside and all the staff were sweet. My masseuse was attentive and made sure I was comfortable and the pressure was good! i was searching for a place to get my hair cut and ran into Ivy Spa and a wonderful lady named Emily... I had just come back from a weeks business out of town and slept in a terribly uncomfortable bed at the time, which finally caught up to me... My Back and shoulders were wrenched from my final night of sleeping on that bed, so I figured a good massage might take the pain away. When I got back from my trip I went and had 2 massage procedures done to deal with my aching upper back and shoulder region, while both procedures did help a little bit but I was still in knots. I always call ahead to see if Michelle is available. She knows how to zero in on where I am sore. I always leave feeling better then when I arrived.
