This is the second year we have came to Ivys to get our tree. Should have gone with my gut feeling and not returned. Last year we got a tree and yes, it was beautiful but it ended up dying. The sap was all dried up in the trunk. We even took down the tree and cut of the trunk a bit to try to save the tree. Didn't help. We had to throw it away and buy a new one from Home Depot that actually lasted! This year came around and we opted to try ivys again. Same thing happened. 5 days with the tree being home and it's dying. Took it down again and it is all sap at the bottom. Given the price of these trees and the amazing reviews on this place I would expect better trees. We never had this issue with trees from Home Depot, Costco, etc. We will never return here. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

I had an unfortunate experience with the tree that I originally bought, and once Ivy got ahold of it she offered a new tree due to my circumstances. Words cannot stress enough how appreciative I am of her. She really saved my Christmas considering I won't be able to fly back home this year for the holiday due to the the pandemic. The replacement tree is just as beautiful as my original tree and I'm so excited to have it in my apartment. The staff was friendly the second time just as the first time, and they're so attentive and enthusiastic when helping you pick a tree. We've been getting our trees at Ivy's for at least five or six years. First, the trees last into January. I feel bad taking our tree to recycle when it's doing so well! Second, huge selection from small to tall. Third and best, trunk trimmed, tree wrapped, and tied up on top the car in no time, with utter professionalism. I might miss the old tree lots with old guys nipping the bottle, but Ivy's is a pure and easy pleasure to do business with. read more

They charge (significantly) more for credit than cash. Considering the already exorbitant prices they're charging to begin with, this is extra ridiculous. It's also a violation of any credit card agreement they may have, so I think I'll be reporting them to Visa and MasterCard as well. As an example, the top end ripoff is $254.99 if you pay cash, or $295 for credit. You're a sucker if you patronize this place. read more

We have come here several times to get our tree. Her staff is amazing and kind and helpful, so this in no way reflects their work. She was just incredibly rude. We wanted to pay with a card. She said, "if you have come here before you'd know that I love cash". Um, we paid with a card last year and it wasn't a problem. She was rude and I'm pretty sure we will take our business elsewhere. I really wanted a real tree this year, I'm so sick of the fake prickly trees and I have no where to store them!! I've been searching for places selling trees and everyone I've been calling still doesn't have any in - stumbled upon Ivy's on yelp. These trees are so gorgeous!!! Ivy spent a lot of time showing us the trees and educating us on how to care for them...got the stump sawed off and now it's "drinking" 5 gallons of water in my living room. This place has a huge selection of trees at a good price and most importantly the trees are truly beautiful. Ivy was very helpful and fun to tree shop with :) we had a great day tree shopping!!! I went to Ivy's after reading a lot of favorable reviews. I got there at around 11 on a Saturday to pick out a tree. The staff was helpful and I found a tree that I liked. I think this is the kind of an experience that I would have had at any other tree place. There was no reason to go all the way to Lakeview to shop at Ivy's. The prices on trees were about the same as they are everywhere else. There was a bit of a line, so I ended up waiting around 10 minutes to pay for the tree. Ivy was mildly pleasant, but at first said that she is not going to take a credit card and that it's cash only. I told her that I didn't bring $120 in Cash and if she can't accept a credit card, I'll have to go somewhere else. At this point, she reluctantly took my credit card. Again, OK experience overall. Probably the same experience you can get anywhere else, so if you live in the neighborhood, I'm sure this place works. If you have a closer tree lot, I wouldn't go out of my way to visit Ivy's. read more

This was our first christmas tree shopping experience in Chicago. We wanted a fresh cut, modest size tree for our apartment. Having read the reviews for this lot, we decided to go. It's conveniently close to the train (between Addison and Belmont) which is really nice for people without a car. They offer free delivery, but don't deliver to Evanston. I called before and asked if they would deliver to Evanston. The lady said "If you come in and purchase a tree, we'll deliver it at the end of the day at no extra charge. You can just tip the driver." However, when we mentioned it there, she didn't seem too keen. Though we found our tree rather quickly (the 2nd tree we viewed) they seemed eager to sell one quickly.... Overall, they have a great selection of trees. It's close to Christmas so I imagine they had more trees before today, but the selection of what was left was very promising. The tree we ended up with is a little over 5' and cost $40 cash. I think they charge more if you pay credit. read more

Ivy's is hands down the best place to get a tree in Chicago. The proprietor, Ivy, is extremely knowledgable and helpful, and provides a top-notch customer experience -- and she's very nice. We got our first tree from Ivy and had a few (user error) problems upon setting it up at home. Ivy answered the phone each time I called and gave advice on how to fix the situation. She is also responsive to email and has a great newsletter that will alert customers on season openings and other useful information. As for the in-lot experience, it took five minutes to pick out a great tree and step inside a heated room to pay. My husband and myself were her first customers on a freezing cold Saturday morning and she could not have kicked off our weekend with more cheer. Ivy has a passion for her trees, her business and the impact she is making on families in Chicago. Her trees are beautiful (they are grown slowly in NC, which is why they are so straight and full) and she took the extra time to give us the inside scoop on how to really make sure we maintain it's beauty while in our home (before putting it in it's little stand, soak it in a 5 gallon bucket of water for two days so it has a chance to do a huge drink/soak). On-site, she has free private parking and a team to help prep and load each tree. She's thought of everything! This was my first year getting a tree in the city! My friend and I went together and it was such a great experience. The ambiance got us in the Christmas spirit! All of the workers there were SO friendly and helpful. My friend got a 6ft tree and I got a 3/4ft tabletop for my studio. We have been going to this place for five years now. The trees smell great and are always quality. They also have a great selection of sizes. Last year we got our tree for Thanksgiving and kept it up until New Years and it looked great the whole time. They will trim your tree, bail it, and tie it to your car for you. We went here after reading the other great reviews and they were right on. We called when we were on the way as it was nearing their closing time- 7pm on a Sunday- and not only did they wait for us to get there but walked us around to show us all the options and didn't make us feel rushed at all, even though by that point they were officially closed. They even bundled up some extra branches that I asked for so I can make some swags on my own. HIGHLY recommend. I went here for delivery but decided to walk the tree to the bus and took it home that way, no shame. Only thing that knocks them from 5 stars is it says it accepts credit cards but when you get there the sign says cash only. Had to hit an ATM around the corner and pay a fee, so only hassle. This is the fourth year I have bought a tree at Ivy's. The first year I went because it was close to my apartment. I've since moved and still keep coming back because of how great the trees at Ivy's are! Everyone is always so friendly, and the guy who was helping me was more than willing to walk around holding up as many trees as I wanted to see (let's just say, he held up a few!). I love that they deliver the tree to my place, and this year they started offering tree removal services as well! Bought my tree on Friday ... the most expensive tree I've ever purchased. I'm not sure why we didn't walk away when finding out the price: $140 for a 7 foot tree. I think by the time we went to the check out window and and realized the price we were committed. Come to find out Menards has 8 ft trees for less than $80. Went home, put up the tree and let it rest. The next day did it smell like a xmas tree? Nope. And only half the tree fell. The next day did it smell like a tree? Nope. Had to put in the tree scents to make it smell like a xmas tree. It's now Tuesday, the tree stand is full of water and the tree limbs are drooping. Not happy at all. Do not purchase a tree from here. PS. Im not going to undecorate my tree, haul it down two flights of stairs, walk it three blocks and return it, then turn around and do it all over again. Ultimately I just wanted to let you guys know I'm really unsatisfied with this product and it was a waste of time and money. read more

Went to get our 2020 Christmas tree last night and it was the best experience! We were first time customers here and everyone there couldn't be more helpful/welcoming. Everyone had on masks and their outdoor space was so cute! As soon as we got there, they helped us figure out the best size and tree for us. They completely set us up with a stand as well, and the tree was just cut down a few days ago from North Carolina. They also had so many cute wreaths, signs, and potted options too! Told us about their history and how long they've been there and you can see the passion they have for helping everyone find the best tree for them! Ivy is a very nice lady, we got good service there. But for $70, I was expecting the tree we purchased from them would be of better quality. Ours is loosing its needles so bad just 3 days after we brought it back home. It looks like it is mid January already... Walking by or slightly touching a branch will result in a needle shower - literally. We have to vacuum 2 times a day. The tree has very little to no pine smell. We did water the tree from day one. Maybe we got a bad tree. But we will not go there anymore. Not worth the price asked. read more
