If you're looking for the perfect pumpkin patch go here! I searched long and hard for a place that wasn't overcrowded, didn't have animal rides or ridiculous pig races and landed here. Boy boi did it surprise me. Crowds: they limit tickets into their farm meaning it doesn't feel like you stepped into Disney land with insane crowds. Busy enough to feel exciting but not where you're bumping into people left and right. Cornmaze: the HIGHLIGHT of our visit. This isn't any ordinary corn maze. They have an entire scavenger hunt that connects to their app. So you have to find 14 question and scan the QR code to answer. If you find all 14 (it's a hunt) and get all the questions right you're entered into a raffle. We had SO much and found all 14. It was such a fun bonding experience for our family. Pumpkins, mums, and more: the pumpkins and mums felt very reasonably priced. And the mums were HUGE and healthy compared to getting them at the big stores. We also enjoyed some hot cocoa, hot apple cider and kettle corn. All delicious. Animals: I'm an animal activist and reduce to visit places where animals are forced to provide entertainment. This place had a petting zoo but didn't allow kids inside and there was no actual animals rides. Thank you Kroll's. Curious if the baby alpaca I posted a picture of 6 years ago is the same alpaca my daughter fed today ... Anyway. Here I am, writing an update after 6 years. SIX years ago, I brought one of my nanny kids to Kroll's, and today, I brought my own daughter to create a new memory! Even after 6 years, this farm is so reasonably priced. I pre- purchased my ticket online, since we were attending on a weekend day, vs a weekday like last time. My daughter (2) was free, and my ticket was $15. This includes a 3 hour time slot (MORE than enough time, we spent about 1.5 hours here), the tractor ride, corn maze (which I still haven't visited as my daughter just isn't quite old enough this year), and access to the animals. Chicken feed is still 25 cents for a handful, and the goats and alpacas can be fed for just $3/cup of their livestock kibble (please put a garbage can closer to the goats so we can throw away the cups without walking all the way to the picnic tables or port-a-potties). We also purchased two large pumpkins, and 3 smaller pumpkins and a caramel apple for a total of $32.50. Make sure you peep their little store tent, as they carry last season's decor from stores like Target, for a fraction of the cost. I still use my spooky candelabra that I purchased from here 6 years ago, and it's one of my favorite Halloween decorations. This farm doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of some of the other farms in the NW Chicago area, and I absolutely LOVE THAT, as I feel carnival rides and massive petting zoos with kangaroos take away from the Midwest charm of a fall farm (former Iowan here). My 2 year old loved all of the photo ops, and bounced from one station to the next without any prompting. The pumpkins are also absolutely gorgeous here. The Krolls are still very active on site, and this farm still holds a special place in my heart. Definitely a MUST to visit during the fall season. read more

Such a fun pumpkin patch +farm to visit! I visited with my husband on a fall weekend and was immediately impressed with the friendliness of the workers welcoming us in. This continued all through the visit- everyone we encountered that was working was so kind and helpful! The attractions (corn maze and hayride) were a lot of fun and great value for the ticket price. The selection of pumpkins and gourds was also the best I have seen (and great prices!). It was the perfect balance of 'quaint farm' and wholesome, fall fun. In my opinion, it's worth skipping some of the bigger pumpkin patches in the area that will squeeze you for every dime, and instead come here. We will be back next year! read more

Krolls is definitely a fun pumpkin patch on a small scale. It's perfect for a low priced fun outing with the family. During the week you can go and purchase the activities (corn maze, hayride, animal feeding area) separately. On weekends you have to pay online to reserve your spot. Parking is free which is another huge plus. I like going doing the week with little ones because I usually skip the corn maze with them. The hayride is the perfect length for kids and they have a fun activity for the kids to stay interested. I loved that they added a cover to their wagons so the sun isn't beaming down on you. They changed the quarter feed machines to buying a souvenir cup ($5) and you can pay for refills ($2.50) all season long. They have a lot of animals which was nice. The pumpkins are decently priced and my Littles enjoyed walking through and seeing the different sizes. Their little tent store is so cute. Filled with lots of knick knacks. The main candy/food/checkout spot added apple cider slushies and I may just have to make a quick drive up here during the week and buy it. So delicious. Even though I'm on the search for the best apple cider donuts I decided to try a pumpkin flavored one and it did not disappoint. The workers are all so friendly and willing to help. The pumpkin and gourd selection was impressive, the corn maze was huge, the tractor pulled wagon around the fields was informative and fun. We love this beautiful, old-fashioned pumpkin farm. We get our pumpkins here year after year. You won't see any inhumane, traveling exotic animal attraction (like they have at another pumpkin farm in nearby Wisconsin) but sweet chickens, goats, donkeys and alpacas you can feed-living their best life on the farm. My family loves kroll! We've been going the last 4 years. Their pumpkins are beautiful, great quality, and fairly priced. Their animals are friendly and seem happy. Every year, they have a corn maze that begins with informative facts about animals or farming and then you need to answer questions throughout the maze. It's difficult but fun. About 45 mins with kids. The maze is difficult for adults too! We end our visits with a tractor ride. It's so relaxing. Pumpkin Doughnuts here are delicious. Cake style doughnut that was super moist. Outside was coated with sugar, but it wasn't overly sweet. A decent amount of pumpkins flavor. Would recommend visiting this place just so you can try the pumpkin doughnuts. read more

Upon arrival, we went into the shop which was so adorable and wish we could've bought everything! Lots of unique pumpkins and some giant ones that were funny to see. The employees were nice but not super friendly. I was so excited for warm donuts but they came prepackaged in a plastic container and like a sticker for the farm was slapped on it. Good donuts still but for visiting pumpkin patches like this, I always thought they served warm, fresh donuts. The maze was super fun to do and loved the fun facts about goats throughout it. This is my second year visiting Kroll's Fall Harvest Farm, and we had a great time! This small, family owned farm is a great place to have a few hours of Fall fun. They have a variety of pumpkins and gourds for sale and a small shop where they sell Fall decor and other trinkets. There is a snack stall where we purchased pumpkin donuts and apple cider- both a must! We walked around the farm, visited the animals, and then hopped on the hayride for a ride around the farm. The owner himself is one of the hayride drivers- he is a very kind and personable man. He took a few minutes to get to know us before the ride :) The hayride had an audio history of the farm and history of corn, which was very informative. Something fun for the kids- and us adults- was searching for the eight scarecrows hidden along our ride. After the hayride, we journeyed through the corn maze! In the corn maze, you can participate in a Q&A game putting the facts that you learn at the start or the corn maze to the test. This game can be played on an app and makes the corn maze and even more fun experience! Can't wait to visit Kroll's again next year! read more

What a perfect fall morning! Pumpkins, animals, hayride, corn maze and, of course, donuts! To start with - it's 2020, so, COVID. Weekend entry is by timed ticket only, which was fine - easy to purchase online. No tickets necessary for under-3. Once we were there, distancing wasn't too difficult and everyone was wearing masks. There was hand sanitizer everywhere (and required before going into the part where you could touch or feed the animals). The whole thing felt very safe, but also about as normal as it could be. This is not a flashy pumpkin patch. It is very down to earth, which was exactly the right vibe for our family. Pumpkins are priced pretty reasonably, though if you want an expensive pumpkin, they have those too! The corn maze was very neat - there was an associated game, which was a bit much for us with a 2 year old in tow, but we enjoyed wandering through. Our favorite part was the animals. For 25 cents, you can get a handful of cheerios to feed to the goats. There were also chickens, turkeys, sheep, a bunny, donkeys and a few alpaca! Overall a great experience and we are already looking forward to a return trip next fall! read more

It is not crowded and the place is just the right size to spend a nice autumn day with the family. There's lots of pumpkins, good well-taken care of animals (alpaca, sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits), hay ride, corn maze, souvenir shop with rustic farmhouse decor, and pumpkin flavored treats. Really gone downhill. I'm local and have been going here for years. Now I feel like they think they are some big attraction and charge $14/ person for a weekend day. You can go for free but just for the pumpkin purchase side. They literally have caution tape to keep "free" guests from seeing the chickens and goats, which have "for pay" feed machines. I spent $80 on pumpkins and doughnuts but my kids can't go by the chickens? Ok I guess. Pumpkins are really fair priced. The doughnuts are good but they are in plastic clamshells not fresh and hot. I went on a Sunday afternoon and had to have "free tickets" I got online. They had more employees in the parking lot than cars. Half the lot was empty. Its like, here is my free online ticket to come buy stuff. I probably won't be back. read more

After doing some research on pumpkin patches near and around Chicago, we ended up going with Kroll's as we noticed there wasn't an admission charge. First thing to note, BRING CASH or checks. No credit cards taken. We got here pretty close to opening at 10am on the weekend and a decent amount of cars were already there. I'd say it's quite the spot to bring the little ones, and it felt a bit weird not having a kid of our own here as just about every group had their little one running around. What's great about this spot? Plenty of pumpkins to choose from in all price ranges. Free petting zoo with baby goats, sheep, donkeys, mini horses, turkeys, chickens, etc. Only costs a few quarters to get some food if you'd like to feed them. A gift shop selling all sorts of festive decor and even pumpkin carving knives. A snack bar selling pumpkin donuts and coffee, hot chocolate and hot cider. Mmmm bring on the fall season. In terms of other attractions, they have a tractor rides and a corn field maze as well that cost a few bucks each to do. All in all it was a pleasant time. The only thing that bothered me here... bees. I don't know what it was, but literally would not just buzz off and leave me alone. We have been going to Kroll's each fall for 12 years. Our favorite are the pumpkin donuts, no one else has them. We also purchase our carving and decorative pumpkins, corn stalks, and I always find a new piece of fall decor to add to my collection in the sale tent. My children still enjoy feeding the animals and we always marvel at the new animals and same animals each year. As my children have gotten older they have moved from the hayride to the corn maze as their favorite activity. Kroll's is family owned and operated and you can tell that it is a labor of love. Decided to go to Kroll's Farm this year and TOTALLY LOVED IT!!! The place is very easy to find, parking was not a problem during the weekday and the family is super friendly and welcoming. After you park, the first thing you see to the left of the parking lot is the HUGE corn maze! I think every year they have a different design. $7 for adults. I was told it'll take approximately one hour to finish the maze. They have clues throughout the maze to help you finish (great idea). Small strollers are able to go in as well. We got there kinda late on a weekday. Will be going back in a couple weeks to walk the corn maze! As you make your way down to the farm, youll see this tent (shop) filled with goodies you can buy. Also they have different kinds of "specialty" pumpkins and gourds (roughly .50 cents per lb??). I love how they laid out the pumpkins in rows by price. Looks very organized and easy to pick the pumpkin you want. They also have wagons you can borrow to put the pumpkins in as well. My boyfriend and I decided to get the 2 of the $9 pumpkins. In my opinion, those were a good size to carve! I went to Susanna Farms last year in Lake Villa because of a groupon deal ($11 including admission for two and 2 tiny pumpkins ) The environment just felt different. Even though Kroll's Farm isnt super decked out, it has a nice homey feel to it. I REALLY enjoyed Krolls Farm. Maybe because there also wasnt a ton of screaming kids all over the place. And the way they have everything set up. Very spacious. Towards the back, you'll see some chickens, rabbit, and tons of goats. There's also this HUGE cool lookin' turkey! The baby goats are super cute! I think kids will definitely enjoy coming here! You can also feed the animals (25 cents) And it isnt super smelly like some of the other farms that i've been too, which is a plus! You can tell they take care of their animals and care about their well being. Overall, the prices for the pumpkins here is VERY reasonable. I will definitely be coming back for the corn maze before they close and will be back for more pumpkin picking next year!!! I'm not sure how crowded it will be during a weekend but when i was there on a Wednesday, there wasnt a lot of people and i had tons of time to decide on a pumpkin that i like without feeling rushed or having to "fight" for a pumpkin. Got our trees for the second year in a row here. Would highly recommend!!! Super nice people and even when there was such a major tree shortage, they still had more of a variety with all healthy and nice trees! With one our family's favorite seasons upon us, I was starting to think we may not enjoy fall harvest due to coronavirus. Fortunately, we discovered Kroll's Fall Harvest Farm in Waukegan and felt assured by their safety precautions, including timed tickets and limited entry. We made it last Saturday for day one and what a beautiful property! The staff was warm and glad to be open. Our kids - 5yo and 2yo - loved the animal farm and corn maze the best! For a quarter you can buy a handful of Cheerios to feed the goats and alpaca. The hayride was fun with a nice tour of the land and history lesson on pumpkins & corn in IL. For $10/person this was worth the drive and money. Plus pumpkin donuts for $10/dozen! Happy fall! read more

Perfect place to spend a Sunday afternoon in October. Family owned in which the owners are very involved and take pride in their farm.
