Since moving to the South metro, we've been searching for our go-to sushi spot...trying a wide variety of locations and this spot was next on the list! Parking is available in the attached lot. The interior was clean and organized, although fairly generic. Our server was attentive and kept everything accurate and enjoyable during our stay. The happy hour menu was quite extensive and great value, as we got two apps and five basic rolls for under $50. I appreciated that they had basic and specialty rolls on discount during the HH. The cream cheese wontons were light and crispy. The Philly, Spicy Tuna, and California were solid...tasted great but nothing spectacular. I did appreciate that they came on decorative plates and presentation. Overall, this spot has a great happy hour menu and the quality is pretty solid. I checked this off of my "want to try" sushi spots. It was just okay. The restaurant was dated and had Christmas lights and decor hanging up and in the landscaping. There was only one staff member and he appeared to be busy with takeout orders, but was very helpful in suggesting popular rolls. Although he suggested all cooked rolls, which isn't really what we were looking for. There was a young child who belonged to staff that was sitting in a booth watching cartoons at a loud volume. The prices advertised for happy hour were the same, if not more expensive, than most places regular prices. The maki rolls were poorly wrapped but had great portions of fish inside. My family tried out this place for a convenient lunch. I had the salmon teriyaki box, and my family had the hibachi lunch plates. We also had the salmon skin rolls and California rolls from the happy hour menu. The restaurant was clean and quiet during a Friday noon. The miso soup that came with the salmon teriyaki box was unfortunately lukewarm. The salmon teriyaki tasted solid along with the rolls. So the outside place looks really clean and has a new style design. You dont even have to worry about parking. They have whole bunch of space plus there is a Target near by. The inside has lots of tables I would say probably for 60 people. Their tables looks clean and I also noticed that they clean then as soon as customers leave. They really keep it clean. We had a Sapporo to share and I got the Spicy Roll Platter - (Spicy salmon roll, spicy tuna roll and spicy yellowtail roll). I loved them all but would say the yellowtail was my fav. It included soup and a fresh salad. I really liked this place, service was good, and we didn't wait too long. They do have options to share (dinners for 2) and was tempted but it's the chef's choice on sushi. They do have a happy hour, which was pointed out to us after we p(even on Saturday), so now we have a great reason to go back! Been here a few times and it is now my go-to sushi place in the Inver grove heights/Eagan area. Prices are reasonable and they have a happy hour that features several different rolls, maki, and appetizers. They also have several hibachi lunch and dinner specials along with roll lunch and dinner specials as well. They offer such a great variety of sushi so even if you don't like raw fish, there are a ton of options. Their fish is fresh as well so it doesn't give it that "it's too fishy" taste. Their fried rice is also very flavorful and all of their food is cooked fresh. I've never been disappointed by Iwa's quality of food. PRICE: The best thing about this place (along with the food) is the price. They have happy hour over the lunch hour and in the afternoon/evening as well. Their rolls are fairly priced on and off happy hour. Happy hour pricing is $3.95 for standard rolls (Philadelphia, California, etc) and $4.95 for rolls similar to a shrimp tempura roll. Their lunch special is $8.95 for 2 rolls and miso soup, or a bento box (California roll, shumai, rice, and entree) for $11. Everything they have is a great deal because of the quality of food. If you sit at the sushi bar they'll even give you a free crab salad appetizer! ATMOSPHERE: I've seen it both dead and busy- but you never feel overwhelmed even when it is busy.
