They participate in the Too Good to go program. I came on Saturday July 6, 2024 around 1:00 PM. One of my pictures shows them preparing the food fresh.

Good roll! I tried the Hawaii roll and enjoyed it - Especially for being a pre-made roll I thought that the quality was great, and it was super convenient. They had a very nice variety of options - Next time I visit, I think I'll order a fresh roll so I can compare!

He's just not that Intown you. Whenever I am Intown, I have to get some Intown Sushi okay that's not really true. The sushi is not bad but I also think it's a little bit average as far as Sushi goes. They put quite a lot of avocado in a lot of their roles. I mean rolls. But a lot of Hipster actors put a lot of Avocado in their roles, too. It's definitely not aimed at authentic Sushi lovers but at Americanized Sushi eaters which is most of what you get in here cuz it's a tourist place. It's not a destination for Asian people, it's a destination for all sorts of tourists, so they definitely aim at the wider market and the tourist market and the hipster market - and that's what it tastes like to me. Pretty basic hipster sushi with fairly average prices but maybe just over average for a little stand in a market.

Decent considering you are not at a sit down restaurant. The fish was not too bad. Price was slightly higher than average compares to other same style sushi places. It took way longer than expected between the moment I put in an order till I get the food.

Top to bottom: Spicy California Roll, Spicy Tempura Roll, Dragon Roll

Just had Intown for the first time and loved it! Great prices but just as great quality as more expensive Twin Cities sushi restaurants I have tried. 4 stars ONLY because pick up was not ready when scheduled and had to wait a bit.

There is a great variety of rolls so everyone is going to be pleased with the meal. The restaurant itself is tight on space but the dining experience makes up for it. I recommend you beat the dinner rush and go early when they reopen for the evening. Warning, it does get really busy almost everyday because it is just that good! Location-wise it is great because if you struggle to find parking in the small lot next to the spot, you can park on a residential street behind the restaurant and take a short stroll. I'm curious as to what the takeout experience is, I haven't had the chance to order, I would rather dine in the restaurant.

It was fine, we walked through the Indian grocery next door. (also fun!) We had a great little table inside. We ordered the Giaoza pork and tumpra veggies to start. It was less that $60 for our family of 4. I can't wait to come back and try more.

I'm not sure why but obviously I'm here to make sure my review stays! So - I think the people at Billy's are a mixed bag. A combo of snobby (which I find weird in Minneapolis) or just slow with some Midwest hospitality. I used to get takeout here and would also regularly get frustrated because I'd have to wait like 45-90 minutes every other time. Like, just enough so I was familiar but not enough for me to predict it. Because then every once in a while, takeout would be ready in 15 minutes and suddenly I'm caught behind and have to rush to get my sushi. The handful of times I did eat there were strange. A lot of posturing. A lot of ceremony. Just all around too sceney for a mediocre sushi restaurant. And the sushi is mediocre. It is, at best, a 7 out of 10 with 12/10 prices. The North Loop halo is working hard for these prices and the people frequenting this place. The last time I went was so unforgivable I've never gone back or ordered from them. The rice was crunchy and sticking to my molars because it was undercooked on everything. The eel wasn't deboned at all - I literally pulled a 1 inch long bone out from the back of my throat. And saw other pieces with obvious bones sticking out. Yay! At least I know it's real! I complained and the waiter went "oh gosh" and then never came back except to deliver my check. I said - I waited for resolution on all of this and you're giving me a check when I didn't eat any of it?? And then they said SO rudely that "fine SOME of my meal was comped." This was over a year ago or so and I've never looked their way again.

From the moment we arrived, the valet parking made everything easy (though I recommend taking an Uber if you're doing the wine pairing... you'll definitely want to savor every sip). We went for the Matsu omakase, and wow -- every course was a work of art. The freshly grated wasabi, the thoughtful pacing, and watching each dish come to life at the sushi bar turned dinner into a full sensory experience. Chef Shiga was an incredible host -- friendly, engaging, and clearly passionate about his craft. And to top it all off, we had the pleasure of meeting Owner-Chef Shigeyuki Furukawa at the end of our meal -- such a gracious and humble culinary genius! My wife and I left absolutely blown away and already planning our next visit. Perfect for a date night, a special celebration, or simply treating yourself to something unforgettable. While this review is specifically for the Nicollet Mall location, I can confidently say that both restaurants offer similar food quality, pricing, and overall service. The food is what keeps me coming back. The sushi is consistently fresh, delicious, and high quality. While the prices may be a little higher than some other sushi spots, I feel like you're paying for the quality of the ingredients and preparation, which makes it worth it. One thing I really enjoy is that you're not limited to what's available on the conveyor belt. You can grab plates as they pass by for the full sushi train experience, or you can order items fresh from the menu if you're looking for something specific. The experience itself is a big part of the appeal. Sushi train restaurants are just fun, especially when you go with a group of friends. I think it's the perfect spot for a group of around 4-6 people because everyone can try different items and enjoy the interactive dining experience together. The ambiance is another highlight. Both locations are clean, well-maintained, and welcoming. The staff are always friendly, and service is fast, especially when ordering directly from the menu. While the Uptown location is still my personal favorite, the Nicollet Mall location delivers the same quality food and enjoyable experience that keeps me coming back. Overall, this is one of my favorite places to get sushi in the Twin Cities. Between the fresh food, fun conveyor belt concept, friendly staff, and clean atmosphere, it's a restaurant I regularly recommend to others.

They have RFIDs on the plates so they know how long it's been going around and then take it off so it doesn't go bad. They had a great variety and there were a couple item that go by on the belt that you have to ask your server for, so you know it is fresh. Not bad if you are looking for decent priced sushi and spending an arm and a leg.

The inside of the restaurant feels open and you have full view of the kitchen which I always appreciate. On my last visit I tried the tenderloin yakitori, which ended up being rather disappointing - no more than a couple bites of a single piece of beef that was rather underwhelming in both flavor and texture for $12. There was no char, which defeats the entire point of Yakitori and really does not bring out the flavor of the meat. I also ordered the pasta dish off the seasonal menu, and it was underseasoned. The appetizers are good and several have a unique fusion, but these are small plates which feel like you're getting half as much as you might expect for the cost. I'll go back but at this point only for the pizzas.

Recently, I started coming for the food dinner and realized I was missing a lot. Their menu is very thoughtful in each dish has a nice variety of textures and flavors. I will say that their Ramen is one of the best in town. I think really what sets it apart is the broth being super in depth and they grill the pork belly which makes it really smoky and tender. This time I branched out and got the grilled squid as well and it was exceptional. The soy ginger glaze on it was incredible. The only few downsides I think I've noticed is service can be a little bit hit or miss which is surprising how small the places. Even when sitting at the bar, it took a little bit to get their attention. Also, I've tried a few of the cocktails and for the main part they just taste like alcohol with a soda. They sound extremely creative on the menu, but the balance isn't there. Either way I've typically gotten sake as they have a nice little selection. Overall, I love the whole vibe of this place. Drinks: The Last Samurai cocktail & the Imposter Among Us mocktail were both delightful. Love the unique drink options, and the two we had were executed beautifully. Sushi: Unfortunately, the sushi was a bit disappointing. We had the hotate yuzu, Suzuki oshizushi, tamago nigiri, and the futomaki. The rice was unfortunately undercooked, and also too lightly seasoned. The tamago was alright, the futomaki was very good though. Dessert: The yuzu custard - one of my favorite desserts I've eaten in a long time. Definitely the best thing we had and I would absolutely get it again. Service: Our service was pretty good.
