I have never had such horrible service ever! We come here easily 3 or more times a month. Checked in at the front he told us to go take a seat. As we say on the patio (only 1 other couple - no busy time of day). We sat and waited and waited another couple came out and got immediate water, chips and service. We sat for another 5 minutes with no water nothing. I go inside and ask to have some service. The waiter comes out, no apology, with water. Later comes the chips and salsa. Meanwhile the other couple were asked if they wanted guacamole and etc. there we sit, were we invisible. Finally get some service, eat out meal and the check comes. Once agin it sits, while a waiter sits and talks to the couple behind us. My husband spoke to the GM who did not care, Ashe also checked on the couple behind us, and walked by us 3x seeing we had no water, no service. After this horrible service and the GM not giving a care in the world, I'll take my service to Redmond or Carnation Ixtapa where they actually care about there customers! Note to the GM: I advise you treat all your customers the same - and not having apology for your horrible service is pitiful! read more

This place is amazing! The food is fresh and cooked to perfection. I have a restrictive diet and they are happy to make modifications. My Mom lives in Duvall and this is our go to place. Standard Mexican-American fare. The margaritas, however, are huge and scratch made (if you ask). WARNING: birthday dinner + two margaritas + 1/4 of a gummy = twins...at least in our case. Only came for drinks and chips and I'm glad I did! I had a mango margarita and it was very delicious. There were chunks of mango in it and Tajin was on the rim. It tasted fresh and not like a mix. This place is pretty solid. Most of my experience has been in the bar section, so I cannot speak to the experience in the dining room. Usually,​ the service is good and friendly. The food is decent and the drinks are well crafted. The Happy Hour is one of the best values in town, with $3.95 lime margaritas and a chosen draft beer (rotates). If I skip lunch, this is a great way to make up for it beginning at 3 PM. Often I'll go around 5 and make it an early dinner for one. I'm particularly fond of the beef Taquitos. Their seasoned, marinated shredded beef is quite tasty. The salsa is very good with lots of tomato​ chunks. The chips are decent but I don't think they make them on premises. If you're looking for solid value in Mexican food, it's hard to beat this place. It's much better than the other local Mexican style chain restaurants. (I think it's a chain because there are a number of Ixtapa restaurants in the Seattle area but this one is better than the Snohomish location so maybe they're different owners?) read more

Ixtapa in downtown Duvall was our family's favorite Mexican restaurant for more than 20 years. We stopped by for takeout a few times during the pandemic, which wasn't really convenient because we now live on the west end of Redmond. But the food had always been so good, we wanted to support this restaurant. Last week, we decided to dine-in at Ixtapa Duvall for the first time in more than three years. Right off the bat, I was upset that my favorite dish, Spinach Enchiladas, is no longer on the menu. Wanting something meatless, I ordered one cheese enchilada and a cheese chile relleno with rice and beans. They were okay but sort of bland and I noticed that there was no lettuce or tomato on the plate. My husband had some sort of taco and enchilada combo and had the same impression; "This is okay but not as good as before." The serving of chips and salsa was really small and prices had gone up considerably, too. So we no longer feel that it will be worth the long drive to eat at this restaurant again. read more

We have been going here for years, the wait staff is always wonderful howeveer the food has been suffering. I know some people love the salsa but we think it has way to many onions. Large parking lot. Great patio. They won't take reservations for the patio and no dogs allowed. The complimentary chips come with beans and salsa. Pricing for meals is reasonable and large selection of items. Food tastes great, portions are large; we had leftovers. Clean place. Clean bathroom. Friendly staff. I am full of delicious regret. I regret eating so many chips. Their salsa was so yummy and the chips formed an excellent salsa delivery system. After eating too many chips, I had the 2 taco de carne asada. When the plate came out, I was surprised by how simple the tacos looked. They weren't smothered with cheese or sauce. I'm glad that they weren't for the steak was oh so yummy and cooked to perfection. I probably would've lost the flavor of the meat and tortilla if slathered with other stuff. This was a solid meal. Been coming here for years, the service is always good and friendly and a good place for families and friends to meet up. Unfortunately the food quality has dropped over the years. Everything tastes the same and doesn't have that authentic flavor. All seems rushed out of the kitchen and the sauce tastes like from a can. It is Americanized which is sad. This is a great family owned restaurant with fantastic employees. The only thing I wish they had was queso dip for all of us gringos our there. It is a very authentic restaurant that serves fantastic food and drinks. All the food is great but I am partial to the Oso Bucco. The owner is very friendly and the manager Chewy is is a hoot. The bartenders take great care of you and the chefs know how to make a great meal. They just need that gringo queso for their homemade tortilla chips and we would be in business. We always get great service when we go to Ixtapa in Duvall. When it's dry and warm outside, the deck is good for outdoor seating. The drinks are well-made. My favorite is the scratch Margarita. The Ixtapa enchiladas (seafood) are great, as are the tacos guvernador (steak and shrimp). My wife and I usually get out of there with dinner, cocktails and tip for around $100, which seems perfectly reasonable. read more

Visit one - chicken bone still in the chicken that was inside my chimichanga. Ew. Second visit - both orders of chips smelled and tasted like they had been cooked in rancid oil. Eww. Every time I come here the food gets better and better. Duvall is home to the original Ixtapa, and is a critical part of it's history. The decor can be a little busy as it tries to incorporate Aztec, Mexican, and Duvall culture. Prices are reasonable, staff is super friendly and the food is good. We look forward to seeing the Ixtapa dancing horses and Mariachi Band at every Duvall days. read more

Hands down the best mexican food you'll ever eat! My family has been eating here since it was just a tiny little restaurant in the corner of the building, and I watched it grow over the years. The food is delicious and freshly cooked. Everything on the menu is great, so you can't go wrong. But if you want some recommendations, try the Tacos de Carne Asada, or maybe the Enchiladas a la Crema. The crema goes great with chicken! The wait staff is great as well, very friendly and jovial. If you make yourself a regular, they'll get to know you. And the owner will even come out to shake your hand. I can't say enough good things about the staff. Be careful, though, they love to serve you drinks! Try to get a seat out on the patio, if it's a nice day. You may want to eat early though, because the place will get packed quick, and with good reason! read more

Ole! I love me some hometown mexican grub. The good folks at Ixtapa have been making it happen in downtown Duvall now for years- 15 to be exact. My family has been coming here for years. They still ask about my brother and I- it has been a long time since we've made an appearance. What can I say about Ixtapa in Duvall? We first encountered this gem in 1992 , when the real estate agent and us used it as the place to sign the papers for our property purchase. Then,it was just one fourth of the size it is now. The food was so good that we would make the trip from West Seattle to Duvall just to get more of it. After moving in to our new house the restaurant became our go to place for dinner and lunch. Over the years they have upgraded the menu to include many dishes,but our favorites include the chicken mole enchiladas,chicken fajitas and the Ixtapa burritos. But if we went out for dinner, it was pretty much always Ixtapa. That was fine with me. At an early age I discovered their Arroz con Pollo. Sooo good!! I always have a hard time reviewing Mexican restaurants because they're all the same: same decor, same style of food, same menu choices, same chips and salsa, same refried beans and rice with the meal, etc. If I took a plate from 10 random Mexican restaurants in the Seattle area and did a blind taste test no one would be able to tell which is which (you're sitting there thinking you could, but trust me, you couldn't). They're...all...the...same... And Ixtapa is just another face in the crowd when it comes to Mexican food. A large menu filled with all the usual choices of tortilla, cheese, beans, and your choice of filling. Last time I went to a new Mexican place the first thing my best friend said to me was "Let me guess, you had a chicken burrito?" so this time I was determined to try something else. I went for the mix and match menu and got two things that I had never heard of and don't remember the name of filled with chicken. They were fine, not really any different than eating a burrito, but at least I can say I tried something new. I guess the one thing that's different about Ixtapa is the prices. I couldn't believe the entree prices: around $20 for just a regular old meal, yikes. Luckily the mix and match menu is more reasonable: $10 for one item, $13 for two, $16(?) for three. My parents got a single item and I had two and it was plenty of food for everyone. Their salsa is very good, and actually has a pretty decent bite to it, which is rare. If you happen to be in Duvall than by all means stop in, but there's no need to make a special trip when there are a jillion other Mexican joints in the area that you can get the exact same meal at. read more
