This is a great spot to hang out and also catch St. Paddy's day festivities on the Eastside. My wife and I have hosted a large party here for our joint birthday, and the staff is very warm and friendly and takes good care of us. I love being able to play darts in the back and find a booth to sit in and just hang out. The food is great and the service is always quick. My wife and I even left our baby stroller on accident for a long time after Saint Patty's day one year and they held onto it the entire time and returned it to us which was awesome. Came for St. Paddy's Day and it was busy busy! We didn't have to wait long to be seated and our waitress was so sweet and attentive. Very roomy and lots of outside patio space too. I always love chicken pot pie so I had to order it. This recipe was a new one for me but overall good twist on a classic. Super rich sauce and huge chunks of chicken and veggies. My friends got the fish and chips (7/10) and the Spicy chicken sandwich (9/10). Over all good taste and great food, they kinda wished the fish was a bit crispier. Great portion sizes. I loved their fries! Get the regular ones, amazing. We also got the fried Mac and cheese and the jalapeño poppers (no photo) 10/10 for both. It is an Irish bar so more beer then anything but they do have a bar, just no wine. Overall a great place to come get food or drinks for any occasion. read more

Reviewing this for my parents just because they love this place. I personally hate bar style places like this, I just think their food is terrible, low quality, and I get an icky feeling. But my parents both dig it, they've lived in the Redmond area for years and this is always their go to bar. They come mostly for the drinks, but also the kind workers. You always know what to expect out of the food, drinks, and atmosphere here which makes it reliable. Like any place like this the workers are super friendly, the service is super fast, and the food is super cheap. Unfortunately, was not impressed at all. Actually quite disappointed. We ordered fish and sweet potato fries and nachos topped with corn beef and cheese. I very rarely ever send food back to the kitchen. I just pay for it and do not order it again or return to the establishment to try other food. However, I was appalled that they dared to serve stale drenched in oil tortilla chips with terrible hardened yellow cheese. Told the server and she apologized and took the dish away stating she would remove it from the tab. My SO was hungry, so we ate the greasy fried fish (fish tasted fresh, but the batter was not crisp at all. We ordered the sliders off the HH menu and they tasted good Besides the unsweetened ice tea, and Guinness beer, the sweet potato fries and sliders were the best things we ordered. Came here after craving fish and chips, and I was very happy with the end result! They were $19, but the portions were massive. I took left overs home and ate the rest for lunch. My husband got the corned beef and cabbage, and even he had leftovers too! The interior is nice and they have plenty of seating inside and outside. TVs to watch games on, but it doesn't feel like a sports bar. Our waitress was very attentive and so friendly! The total with tip was $95 but we got 2 huge entrees, 2 beers, and 2 glasses of wine. **Update** 5/20 Decided to give this place another shot to get the horrible aftertaste of the last experience out and hopefully they fixed that darn water heater (refer to 1 star review) Thankfully everything was great! Which I left super happy because this bar is one of my favorites. Food came out hot and delicious paired with the drinks made it even better. HUGE SHOUT OUT TO OUR SERVER JOHN! He was super awesome great customer service cool calm and collected and is a big part of making this experience top notch. Highly recommend the Lychee Cocktail can't remember the name but it's the only one with lychee it taste superb! Hopefully it stays on the menu because I believe it replaced another drink. My wife and I have been coming to JJ's for a decade, almost weekly. Their old fashioned's are the best we've ever had. Handmade syrups even. Their schnitzel is very good, mashed potatoes are excellent. Incredibly good club sandwiches, huge fish and chips. The staff is always friendly, remembers us well and the owner is a really nice guy. We are here on a Wednesday evening, and it was relatively empty. There was a family with kids screaming and interrupting our server anytime she came to speak with us. My husband had the Incredible Burger and enjoyed it. However, my fish and chips were extremely greasy and burned. The server never came back until the end of the meal, but fortunately removed the meal from the ticket. I think the fish was already prepared and then refried to order. It definitely was not fresh. Hidden in Redmond with no lack of awareness, Let's get into this! We stepped over for an early dinner and beer. We were greeted right away and invited to sit anywhere. The service, was on point. Fast and respectful. No lingering and quick to mind the table of empty plates or glasses. The food, fantastic. The chicken burger was just to die for. It was tinder, tasty, and visually stimulating. The fry pickles, left me speechless. It was all just so delicious. The price, when compared to other places the price was great. For the amount of food, the taste, and how quickly it was served I would totally come here as often as possible for a quick meal at a good price. The football game was on, and the whole experience was very enjoyable and entertaining with everybody in the restaurant cheering and jeering together. The servers were very friendly. They have conversations and crack jokes with us to make sure we feel comfortable. The food was incredible and came out very quickly. I ordered the chicken pot pie and was blown away. It was absolutely mouthwatering and delectable. The crust was crispy and flaky, the filling was hot and savory. The meat was plentiful (which makes sense why it's expensive). The sweet potato fries were delightful. All in all, it was great as I needed something close to me and easy to eat on the go. This place does an incredible job! It's family friendly, dog-friendly on the patio, and just.. FRIENDLY! We come here about once a week lately and have never had a bad experience. Servers and bartenders are awesome. There's plenty of parking in the strip mall, plenty of seating indoors, and a big patio that we rarely have trouble getting a table at. They open garage door style windows often, so if you can't find a patio table you can eat indoors safely next to the window - fresh air! We come for dinner usually, but they also serve breakfast on weekends! As a vegetarian, I have several options to choose from, and they've always been cheerfully happy to omit an item off a salad or a sandwich I want to order, to make it vegetarian. If you're not feeling like Irish food, there's plenty of salads, burgers, fries, and a large selection of appetizers to choose from. Kids love the fried mac and cheese balls and root beer served in bottles that look like beer! They'll bring out a water dish for your dog on the patio. I've been to this place a number of times but my last visit was not very good. I took my new girlfriend here for lunch and I ordered the Reuben Sandwich with the Irish Cole Slaw with Irish Mustard dressing. The Reuben was OK, fair to middlin', but then the cole slaw tasted really bad to me. The chef must not have tasted it at all. It appeared to be from a bag bought at a grocery store about a week earlier. Totally dry with no dressing at all what-so-ever. Let alone any Irish Mustard dressing. When I told the waitress, she wanted to exchange it for something else, but we were ready to pay and leave at that point and she didn't understand that I didn't want to be served a side dish substitute when we were done. And then when I talked to the manager, he just wanted tom argue, argue, and argue. So do not go to JJ Mahoney's because they have no clue what-so-ever about good customer service with food service. Avoid this place, they will not listen if there's a problem, and they just want to argue, argue and argue with you about how you are wrong if the food doesn't taste good and fresh. I remember coming here because they have good ambience specially when sports are involved. These are strange times so we went here for a Seahawks game and they were very helpful when we asked for volume up, etc. The only thing that didn't ask was the fact I wanted something non alcoholic and it was hard. They offered some things but at the end didn't have the supplies. So when asking for another thing, they told me they didn't have a blender or something going with the beverage. On Friday night 10/14/22, I ordered a burger, steamed veggies, and a diet coke. I was shocked to see my credit card charged for $50, which was supposed to be $35. When I inquired, the Co-Owner stated this was to ensure payment. I agreed to a different amount to be charged and should be sent to the bank as such. He ensured it would be revert back to the correct amount once the banks opened on Monday, however, the bank is stating this has not been reverted back by the Merchant. Oh man. This is very bad. Ok, back up a bit; this is bad, DEPENDING on your expectations. If you're here only for the booze, you've made a good choice. They pour 'em strong and keep 'em coming. That's good, because the food here will drive you to drink, either to forget, or for the alcohol's anti-bacterial, medicinal qualities. I've (apparently) managed some (admittedly alleged) food poisoning with good antiseptic booze on more than one occasion. And I am unanimous in that. :) Seriously though: reheated bacon, stale soda bread, foamy goopy mashed potato with repurposed bacon and random green things in it, grilled pithy #2 tomato with a hair sticking out of it, canned beans mixed with catsup does NOT NOT NOT a $16 Irish breakfast make. On any planet. Ever. Except here at JJ Malarkey's. Ok, Mahoney's. Whatever. Food is phoned in at every level. Extra star is for the good humored and attentive service. Servers: It's not your fault your kitchen sucks. If encouraging them to improve and telling the BOH leadership (assuming there is some) what the customers are saying about the food doesn't inspire change, I recommend finding better employment. Their lack of skill and scruples is costing you tips. No server should have to apologize for what they serve in a decent restaurant. My husband and I have been coming here for probably close to 4 years now & I'm finally getting around to writing a review! As far as food goes, sometimes the menu changes, so we just go with it. My favorite dish is the ahi tuna salad, I ask for the tuna rare & a solid second place is the crispy cod tacos with the Marie Sharps habanero sauce. My husband likes the bangers & mash or the chicken strips with fries. We try lots of different starters, but right now we are just going with jalapeño poppers. Sometimes they have jalapeno's filled with sausage, those are bomb!! Beer - we LOVE Kilkenny & Smithwicks Wine - the Pino Grigio here is good. We've been served by someone different almost all the time. We come in every 2-3 weeks, haven't really gotten to know any of the staff - which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
