What a great place to have a get together! Shout out to Nadine C. for the UYE! Jolene L., Irene M. and Fran C. Izakaya Hideyoshi is truly a hidden gem. It's hidden because the front entrance to the restaurant is within Osoyami Bar & Grill! No visible signage for Izakaya Hideyoshi! IYKYK kind of place. Thank goodness for Yelp reviews! Bar atmosphere here. Nice booth decor and games you may play here. You may order from both restaurants here. Just pay separately. Orders will be brought to your booth. A bit noisy, so be prepared to use your loud voice lol. Fun atmosphere and it gets crowded. Food from both restaurants is tasty. I enjoyed the tater tots a lot. Thanks Irene! My order of spicy tuna roll and teriyaki burger and fries were yummy. Took home the burger and fries for hubby. Fran C's yummy garlic fries and more were great (but his homemade cookies were sooo delicious)! Nadine's sassy ikura and uni bowl was exquisite! Jolene .. I forgot what you ordered . I'm terrible. We were talking so much lol. The best was the friendship and getting together to share a new foodie experience! Thanks again Nadine C. for a memorable experience! Food: 4/5 stars Ambiance: 4/5 stars Service: 5/5 stars UYE experience: 5/5 stars

Dinner in Honolulu, Hawaii... Finding a place that none of us had ever been was challenging... but we did it! Using the Yelp app, we found Izakaya Hideyoshi inside of Osoyami Bar & Grill. It turned out better than expected because customers can order from both menus. Some of us got Japan Uni Ikura Don (me), and other people ordered Garlic fries, chicken wings, and a vegan burger (Bruddah Fran). Jackie even got a teriyaki burger, and Irene got loaded tater tots! LOL! We tried to make reservations via Instagram chat, but it's first come, first served. I made sure that I was first to enter the door when it opened at 6pm. Being early also helped with the parking because when we left, people were double parking in the free lot in front of the restaurant. We enjoyed the lively, loud, dimly lit bar environment. There's a cool dragon drawing that runs along the length of the large room! Sadly, there's no karaoke anymore, but the dart boards are still there!

Thank you Nadine... For finding this gem that's hidden right inside Osoyami Bar & Grill though you wouldn't even realize this until you walk in and see some of the vibe scattered around including on the tv screens highlighting some of his menu options and since it's walk in only we arrived as soon as they open at 6pm and parking here as we all know majority surrounded by a residential neighborhood is the biggest challenge though they do have a lot which is shared as well is quite small. Ordering from both menus are by QR code which is provided on all tables though we are a party of five (Nadine, Fran, Jolene, Jackie and myself) it was preferred to have several checks which was possible if we walked up to the bar and order individually and pay where you give your name so that when the order comes out know which one is yours. Since I came here to see what was available to offer and was impressed to see so many options including agenasu, jidori karaage, and Teri truffle edamame from the appetizer along with choices from donburi, sushi, sashimi and nigiri sushi. I originally leaned towards the donburi but decided on the "Tuna Tataki"...simple name with a complex build and this stunning work of art was the perfect bite. Tuna Tataki is a block of local big eye tuna that's perfectly seared and is sliced and laid on a bed of julienne daikon, sweet onion, seaweed salad soaked in ponzu sauce...yuuuuuuummy! it's ten topped with drizzled garlic mayo and sprinkled with kaiware, tobiko and garlic chips...absolutely stunning! Absolutely perfection and what a delicate dish regardless of it all it was just the perfect bite and it was a happy happy joy moment. I also ordered the loaded tots from Osoyami's menu since it's a party here why not have a bite of an item that's totally shareable though you need to pay separate since it's from two different biz. Other items ordered from here is the Japan Uni Ikura Don but since we're able to order from both menu is very nice and convenient as well where it was the Vegan Teriyaki Burger, Teri Cheeseburger, Basket-o-fries, Garlic Fries, Fried Kimchi Potstickers and Chicken Wings was ordered. Izakaya Hideyoshi in Osoyami is a wonderful combination that I'm so delighted to have experienced thank you to my Yelpies for the homemade cookies, snacks and treats the evening was just a great gathering night filled with fun and food! Thank you!

After watching a play, we swung by Izakaya Hideyoshi for Happy Hour specials (10pm to closing)! This was our first time visiting since chef Hideyoshi left Izakaya Torae Torae to start his new venture at Osoyami Bar & Grill and we were excited to finally visit (and use the discounted gift certificates that he has been holding on to for us for 6 months). The food is just as amazing, fresh and affordable as expected. OMG, the portions are way bigger than we remembered. Hands down, one of my favorite Izakaya spots on the island! Our server was really friendly and helpful. At this time, you can't make reservations for Hideyoshi, but you can make reservations for Osoyami if you will be largely ordering from the Osoyami menu. There are 2 menus you can order from: Hideyoshi and Osoyami. We ordered mainly from Hideyoshi's HH menu and then drinks and tater tots from Osoyami. Everything was delicious! I LOVE that you can order from 2 different menus. Portions all around were generous. I then soon went again 2 more times within 1 week. I LOVE the negitoro uni bowl w/ add on uni. It's heaven in a bowl for me. High quality fresh seafood on a bed of delicious sushi rice at a reasonable price. My bf and I also particularly enjoyed the gyudon, hamachi carpaccio, and age nasu). I can't recommend this place enough.

Cute place...total gamers place but we enjoyed the food. Didn't have Hamachi Kama but we did get our Hamachi fix. Loved the eggplant and tuna tataki! Little loud for us but again this was a bar, gaming place.

Checking out Hideyoshi's Hideyoshi formally head chef from Izakaya Torae Torae went out on his own and opened this spot located in Osoyami Bar and Grill. He has the classic items from Torae but also made a few new items. The service provided by the Osoyami bar wait staff was great, they were attentive and pleasant. Parking is limited, there are maybe 10 or so stalls in front, then it would be street parking. There were dart boards in the bar as well, so bring your darts and hang out after for some drinks

Hidden away in Osoyumi is a chef Hide's izakaya menu. From someone who has worked in multiple restaurants (Japanese including +5 years) I found that the chef's food was very refreshing in uniqueness and carried a lot of that local style Japanese flavors, making it not just another sushi restaurant. All the food was delicious and I highly recommend the carpaccio. Its a dish I can see everyone enjoying. The donburi's were all great and adventurous in idea. I can't wait to go back with some friends to try the other dishes. I do recommend that ordering from the osoyumi's if the server says the sushi side is backed up because the food can take quite awhile. The loaded taters and cheese sticks were great fast appetizers from the bar side.

This little spot is tucked inside Osoyami bar. If you're wondering when it opens, i believe it's the same hours as the bar which opens at 6pm. At least that was the case on Sunday. We had the toro don and added Uni ($40+). Also tried the karage and tuna appetizer. It was pretty good but not sure it's quite worth the price and the bowl isn't all that huge either. The staff were super nice and attentive. The ambiance is just bar-y, does not have any izakaya vibes which would be fine if you weren't paying $$$.

My husband surprised me with a belated Valentine's Dinner and as usual, he knows me and my stomach's desires so well. We used to go to his original spot up the street for special occasions and sometimes just random date nights. We got here probably 15 minutes before opening and sat in the parking lot before lining up (as in one other couple was there). The wait was non-existent to be seated and I'm glad we went when it opened as I know this place gets busy. I like the relaxed bar environment and that one of the televisions had HGTV just in case you didn't want to watch the sports on haha. The staff were attentive, quick, and friendly. There will be separate checks for the bar food vs Chef Hide's but I didn't see any problem with that and liked having so many options. The menu is limited but in a good way. All the oldies are here!! We didn't want to take any leftovers home so we limited ourselves- don't laugh I'm sure this doesn't seem scaled down, but it is for us hehe. I enjoyed the lychee spritz so dangerous. Nice flavor and not overly boozy when you mix it which I tanked at the end. We had the chuuka iidako, ahi tataki, chawanmushi, gyudon, and the negitoro ikura (add uni, durr) don. From the bar we added fries because why not! Fries were crispy and salty but not over salted which is hard to get right. The food tasted just like I remembered. Prices are very reasonable for the portion size. I love iidako and it tasted exactly how I expected and am familiar with. Ahi tataki was fresh and I loved the ponzu lord of daikon with the drizzle of garlic mayo. Chawanmushi was so delicate and flavorful and the uni and ikura on top was a nice touch. Gyudon was perfect, soft cooked egg, mix of meaty and fatty pieces of beef that wasn't too sweet which I personally prefer, and lots of yummy rice to soak it all up! Can never go wrong with the negitoro ikura don with uni... so so good. I seem to recall it coming with a special soy sauce before but maybe I'm thinking of somethin else, either way it was exactly what I remembered and I'm so happy it is still offered. Uni is fresh and doesn't have the yucky aftertaste some bad uni has, never a problem here. We will be back and try more dishes. Arigatou, chef.

Gyudon, negitoro ikura don, tekka don

So glad we finally got to try this place! I had heard that the tables are limited and there can be a wait, but we got lucky! We went right at 6pm on Sunday and it was not crowded at all. We got the hamachi carpaccio, spicy ahi roll, and 3 donburi. Staff were super attentive and also it was not a long wait for the food at all. The bar itself is a little dark, or maybe I'm just getting old. Everything was excellent, fresh, and full of flavor. Also, Chef Hide came out to say hello which I thought was so nice of him! We were too full to order more but I guess that means we will be back!

Gyudon! So good! And filling! Knocks your socks off!

Service was amazing! Chef Hide is a magician in the kitchen! Best place to hit up izakaya at night! Grab drinks, good food, and the perfect date spot! 10/10

The fish tasted very fresh and the oyster shooter was so cute and delicious. The chef was super fast and I enjoyed sitting and talking with the bartenders :)

I've been to Mitch's a few times and when I saw that they opened up an Izakaya next door, I knew I had to try it and made a reservation on Yelp. Izakaya Mitch's specializes more in cooked dishes while the other side is more about the fresh / raw fish. But that didn't stop us from ordering the assorted sashimi. All the fish were from Japan and yes you can taste the difference. The fatty tuna was obviously my favorite but even the regular tuna and the hamachi was so buttery, it just melts in your mouth. Plus, it comes with real wasabi. Not horseradish, real wasabi. For the cooked dishes we got the hokkaido crab tempura with a side of matcha salt. One of the best tempuras I've ever had. The kamameshi, a rice dish with their fish of the day. We got the half order and it's kinda like a bibimbap where they mix the rice for you at your table. I saw that people were raving about this on Yelp and put in our order right when we got in because it takes 25-ish minutes to prepare. On special, they had a karei karaage. Karei is a flat fish and I've never had a fish karaage before, it was perfectly fried and dipped in the ponzu sauce it was so good. Ambiance is a no-frills kinda spot but very clean and feels homey and the service is amazing! Attentive and super personable.

The tai karaage was so tender and seasoned really well, the kamameshi is such a comfort dish, and the burrata with chilled tomato was really refreshing. One thing we all liked was that even though there were a lot of people in the restaurant (most came in after we ordered), we still were able to speak to one another without talking loud. The staff mentioned that they will be getting a sushi chef, so I guess we need to try this place again,

This place has been a staple for my family ever since we moved back to O'ahu a few years ago. Bottom line? The soba noodles here are utterly fantastic. They are, in my humble opinion, the best on the island, and some of the best soba noodles I've ever had. I don't think anywhere else in Honolulu comes close. You come here to eat soba. Period. In addition to the soba being phenomenal, the other offerings at i-naba are also similarly great. Their tempura in particular is outstanding. I typically order the Jumbo Shrimp Tempura Bowl & Soba or the Dx Tempura Bowl & Soba. Plus an upgrade to a large size soba! The tempura is sooo good. It's crispy, light, and airy. The jumbo shrimp is especially succulent and tender. And the ingredients are always perfectly seasoned with the sweet and savory house sauce. Yummmy!
