Love the sunrise platter. This is our 2nd time getting a takeout platter and all the fish is very fresh and good quality. Price is reasonable too

Domo has a variety of bentos, rolls, sushi and platters. I had the Teri chicken bento which came with Teri chicken rice, edamame, miso soup and's 2 unagi nigiri! All for a reasonable cost I even subbed the unagi with natto nigiri with no problem. The miso soup was not overly salty. My boys had their seared scallops which was equally delicious. Their platters look good too and you might be scared by the price but they are VERY generous. Parking is quick and easy and you can even put your order via DoorDash for pick up or delivery. Don't skip out on them!

Domo Cafe is such an underrated gem. Their spicy ahi poke bowls are always so yum, and the quality is consistent. I love that it's more on the sweeter side with unagi sauce. If I'm not ordering the poke bowl, I'll order B8 (Spicy ahi bomb & salmon) and B5 (Garlic set). I've ordered this multiple times and have never been disappointed. The fish is fresh and the flavor is amazing. Service is fast and friendly, and there's a parking lot outside. I you, domo cafe!! For the domo owners - will you ever consider bringing back the smoothies and boba? I know it's been years, but the best strawberry smoothie with boba I've had was from here. I was so sad when you guys took it off the menu.

Fresh sushi, fish, and poke bowls next to the YMCA in Kahala. Parking available in the lot, dining available inside. Food was so fresh, I can't wait to go back. Lots of people ordering and picking up take out, so it's worth a try if you haven't stopped by. Prices are reasonable, service is quick, and casual vibes. Check it out if you're in the area!

We came here for with friends who were visiting from the mainland. They were craving poke and wanted to eat at a restaurant where we could sit down. They got poke bowls but I got the beef udon. I'm glad that there were other options if you didn't want poke. The udon was perfectly bouncy and the meat was tender. Everyone enjoyed their poke bowls and thought it was delicious. The staff was nice and friendly.

The seared garlic salmon is the best thing here. The platters are perfect for parties, and we always swap out the ahi for seared salmon because it's just that good. Service is quick, and the platters are a great value overall.

This small quick food stop has quality fresh poke, sushi, and udon. They make the bowls to order. The cashiers are friendly and prompt. There is a small area inside for seating, but I almost always take mine to go. The poke is fresh and not overly seasoned. My favorite is the spicy ahi bowl with a topping of crab salad. The location is convenient and has free parking.

The food was good overall. I ordered the all-seared salmon and scallops, but both were a bit overcooked and didn't quite have that melt-in-your-mouth texture I was hoping for. The flavors were there, but the texture took away from the experience. Service and atmosphere were fine.

The best sushi bombs and seared nigiri on the island. I love ordering their platters for parties and the fish is always super fresh! I usually call or do online order for a quicker pickup!

Call ahead and pick up the aburi platter for your next party or potluck - you won't regret it. It's a guaranteed crowd pleaser. The seared garlic salmon is our personal favorite and this platter has nothing but the favorites.

We are so glad that this eatery is near us. This is a great location that is super convenient with adequate free parking. Their menu is pretty impressive with so many tasty options. Their sashimi is fresh and so far, we've enjoyed everything we ordered :) If you plan on calling in your order and picking up, it's very quick and easy. We especially appreciate their fast and friendly service.

We had the saba, which I would say was good. 3/5 Beef curry, which was ok, but the rice was dry. It seemed a tad bit undercooked. Enough to notice and be disappointed by texture and lack of moisture, so I didn't really eat the rice. Curry and beef was quite ordinary. 2/5 Chicken karaage was the only thing I did really like. Best I've had? No. But still great. 4/5 Rump cap was just really disappointing. No flavor and it was not tender. 1/5 Unagi chazuke had good flavor but again the rice was dry. Here is where the service did not impress me. The man who came to pour the broth did it so fast like he was in a rush, maybe he was, that droplets of the broth ricocheted onto my outfit went through and reached my thighs and actually hurt. I didn't react because... well... I didn't want to seem whiny. But that was not ok to be in such a rush that you cause harm or pain to a customer. 1/5 for the service, 3/5 for the dish Overall, wanted to love this place but it sadly disappointed. I didn't even bother to order the honey toast because everything else was overall just ok.

A standout was the pork with shiso and the gizzard which was a flavor bomb. Service was really good and the staff were nice. The space was also very nice, I felt like I got transported to Japan and it was cool. Will I go back? Yes, for the yakitori. Did it blow me away? Not quite. Is this the best yakitori I've ever had? Definitely not. So jury's out. You can decide for yourself.:)

TL;DR Refined…read morebentos, musubis, and other Japanese dishes to go. ----- HIGOTO Japanese Eatery (HJE) is a solid option for takeaway Japanese food. I had HJE on my radar for a while and was finally able to stop in for lunch in the first week of July 2026. The restaurant is located in the same shopping plaza as the Kaimuki Times. In fact, it's on the ground floor next to Times. It's tucked behind some large concrete walls next to the parking lot, but just keep your eyes open and you should be able to find it. I ordered the Fish Lovers bento and a Cheeseburger musubi, both with the mulitgrain rice. The Fish Lovers bento was PACKED with offerings, including chikuwa, ahi katsu, shrimp tempura, miso butterfish, grilled saba (?), and grilled salmon, plus an assortment of wonderful side dishes. The Cheeseburger musubi included a beef patty topped with cheese, plus multigrain rice all wrapped in nori. I was a big fan of both my choices, and I would definitely order them again!

I was so upset with myself, because I wanted to go here weeks ago when I found it by accident on Instagram, lol. Next time I will not forget. So the bento that was left was the chicken Kara'age. I wasn't expecting much since it was the last meal available. I decided to try it after organizing my clothing in my closet. Honestly I wasn't hungry, but it was approaching 5pm which was very late for me, lol. I nuked it a little to get it warm removing all the cold items out first then ate the side dishes first I thought mmm, not bad. But then came the chicken and I was mesmerized by the first bite. I thought okay take a few more bites then judge it. So I thought maybe I was starving, so I dipped it into the sauce it came with and my mouth started to have a party inside! The dip reminds me of Japan and the red rice is exactly how my Okinawan mom used to make it. Well, I'm sold and if this is the least wanted plate of the entire day I can't even imagine how spectacular the others must taste. The lady at the register was so kind and apologized several times for being sold out. I totally understand but she definitely meant the apology I can tell. Reminds me of Japan again and she was wearing a mask which is a Japanese custom these days. There is a little table outside for seating of three I think. This place is small but don't be fooled, I heard and seen the massive line this awesome eatery can get. Go early and the wait will definitely be worth it.

I parked in the residential area for free and walked a couple of blocks to the restaurant. Service was very polite and efficient. The interior was cozy and seemed authentic. I didn't feel any air-conditioning, so drinking hot tea was a bit challenging. I let my miso soup cool off before I drank it. I got the Maguro Zukushi Teishoku ($1.50 less during lunch vs. dinner) because it had a variety of Maguro: grilled, deep fried, and raw. I could taste the miso flavor on the grilled fish. I read a few reviews talking about their teishoku so that's what I wanted to order. Their menu is simple and I was having the hardest time deciding between their Hamachi Kama Shioyaki Teishoku and Maguro Zukushi Teishoku. I decided on the latter because LB convinced me Maguro is in the name of the restaurant. The kitchen didn't take long to get our order out and it was a good portion of food. We enjoyed the quality of fish and variety available. As we were eating the waitresses would come by and take any empty dishes from our sets while reminding us again, that they close at 2pm. It felt really rushed and unwelcoming. Before we could finish eating they dropped the bill off to our table and checked to see if they could take payment within less than a couple minutes. The waitress then came back with a bag for us to take the sake home. We quickly finished our meal and I paid cash so we could just leave at this point. They were so quick to rush us out that while we were standing outside the restaurant the waitress came outside to let me know she didn't put everything she needed to charge us for on the bill so I needed to come back inside to pay an additional amount. After paying a second time she gave something to my sister for her birthday and sent us on our way. Considering there were other parties still seated in the restaurant when we left and they were aware of us celebrating a birthday I feel pretty disappointed about our experience there. We weren't offered an option to order dessert and they were in such a rush to get us to leave they didn't even have the bill rung up correctly.
