This contractor came in with a blank contract template, asking me to sign it. There had been no details of the kind of work that was to be done, and when I mentioned the lack of information, he said I could fill it out myself. He kept insisting to sign the contract and give him an immediate deposit. I obviously declined signing a blank contract, and he started to try and intimidate me which I found so ridiculous. I just told him we will find someone else. Very unprofessional, and people should know.

After I gave notice that I was leaving, the owner refused to pay me for the completed job, citing vague "charge backs" he could not produce documentation for when asked. When I pointed out that Maryland law requires payment for work already completed, he shifted his explanation multiple times and threatened to withhold pay to "offset" unrelated jobs. I would not recommend subcontracting or working for this company -- be very careful about getting clear, written payment terms before doing any work, and don't expect to be paid promptly (or at all) once you stop working here. I would like to note, I am the only female subcontractor he has ever worked with.

They said that the flooring looked fine. Since they completed the job, the door to our utility closet won't open due to swelling in the floor where the water came through. We had someone come out and they found water damage in the crawl space and insulation. We are disappointed that these issues were not originally addressed. I have severe asthma and allergies to mold and I hope that the mold spores have not entered the home.
