When I inquired about the exorbitant cost, the company provided a breakdown that confirmed they are padding their hours at a premium rate: * Labor Charged: 2 hours at $280/hour = $560 * Actual Labor: 40 minutes The company attempted to justify the 2-hour charge by claiming this premium labor rate covered the time he spent driving to the store to get materials and carrying his supplies in and out of my home. These are standard overhead costs that should be built into a competitive service fee, not billed at $280 an hour. They are fraudulently inflating the labor hours to justify a flat-rate price. MGP came out and determined it was the pressure relief valve on my 3 yr old HWH. There wasn't any water in the pan under it. The valve was replaced and a recommendation for an expansion tank was made. I chose not to do the tank at that time. Within a week, i noticed the water accumulating again. I called my HVAC company. They said it was from condensation on the AC line coming in. It did not require any repair and would stop when the humid weather passed. It has. I contacted MGP to complain. The office was very nice and said they would have the owner call me. He did call. I missed the call and called him back. He was driving and didn't have my file and said he would call me back. He has not. I am dissatisfied. I would like a refund for the part replacement that wasn't necessary. The company is responsive and does good work to my untrained eye. I felt the prices were high and that they looked for things to repair each time they came out. This and the owner's lack of response has left a bad impression.
