I guess I'm a minority. Never had a bad meal there. I've een going there since the original owners. Kung Pao chicken is awesome, chicken livers is fresh and a huge order, hot and sour soup is good, Crab Rangoons are good as well. Always great meal for me. read more

Just moved back after 17 years. First two things I had to get was IMO's and J&I. #28 is still the go to. Same people and same great food every time. Quick and to the point on the phone. They do not disappoint. Very generous with the price and serving size. read more

This place used to be pretty good six plus years ago but now every time I order the meat is tough and stringy, the sauce is congealed and too gross looking to eat, and the rice is super dry. I still like the crab Rangoon about half of the time. To be fair my boyfriend still insists on this place if we are getting Chinese food but even he threw out his general tso's chicken last time because it was frankly and visibly inedible. There is nothing fresh about the food here and I've gotten to the place where if we want Chinese I will get my boyfriend his food here and drive down to Ho Wun for mine. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE! I got General Tso chicken combo with crab rangoon. Words cannot describe how inedible these items are, but I will do my best. Chicken is basically fried chicken scraps, cooked to a crisp that even a hyena would have trouble chewing. The sauce is thick and tasteless, with most of the main course looking like it was scraped from somewhere in the kitchen that hadn't been cleaned in a while. The crab rangoon were surprisingly bad. I didn't think crab rangoon were able to be served this badly. The outer shells were so done that any cheese inside was cooked down to a chewy paste inside of a burnt rangoon. Upon opening my second rangoon, it was the exact same way. There wasn't even any crab in it! Call it a cheese rangoon if you're too cheap to invest in some crab (even imitation would do something!) Last but not least was the fried rice. It was the only slightly edible thing that I received other than my fortune cookie. Though gray and bland, it wasn't cooked to a point of aberration like my other items. Overall, I think that someone would have to PAY ME in order to try anything else from this restaurant. If this website had negative ratings, I would choose those. Alas, 1 star will have to do; although it hurts giving this place any stars at all. read more

After last night's shenanigans, I was feeling less than 100% today. When loads of Gatorade and water didn't take away my headache and queasy stomach, I knew only one thing would do: greasy Chinese food. I work in Fenton, so I needed to find a place close to my job. Yelp to the rescue! J&I wasn't too far, and it had pretty good Yelp reviews, so I hopped in my car and headed over! It's a tiny little place in a strip mall. Their menu is pretty standard, with all of the things you'd expect at a quickie Chinese place. Whenever I try a new Chinese place, I always order their boneless hot braised chicken. If they can't do that right, I don't even bother coming back for anything else. J&I offered a boneless hot braised chicken combo plate; it came with chicken fried rice, 2 pieces of crab rangoon, and the hot braised chicken, of course. All of that food for $5! Awesome. The food came out pretty quickly, so no complaints there. But how did it taste? Well...it wasn't too bad! The chicken fried rice was decent, and the crab rangoon was tasty. The hot braised chicken fell kind of short. It was really salty, and the sauce was really thick and almost too sweet. Honestly, I think Bo Fung's hot braised chicken has spoiled me, because nothing else compares! The portions were really generous; I have enough for lunch tomorrow. Two lunches for 5 bucks? I'll take it! I don't think I'll be back, however. There are more places in the area I'd like to try first. read more

We have ordered from here a few times and it's pretty good! My dad actually is the one that tried it first and he really really likes it and says it's the best in the High Ridge/Fenton area. I like the crab rangoon. My only complaint is that they don't have sauteed options on their menu like the D.C. chinese places did. Do not go here. We ordered a plethora of food, including some fried cashew chicken, chicken livers, etc and found a Roach fried up along with the chicken. We took back the food container that had the roach still in it and showed the owner. The owner then decided to curse at us and say that we put it in there. That makes total sense, I ordered Chinese food, went home, started my deep fryer, found a roach, dropped it in, put the roach in my full container of food, and then drove back to the restaurant for a refund. What nonsense. The fact that there was a roach in the food was enough for a 1 star review, plus the fact the we were called MFers over and over by the owner makes me wish there was a negative stars option. One word comes to mind....disgusting. Myself & co workers just ordered food for lunch. This was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. One ordered Chicken Lo-mein & the noodles were hard as rocks. 2 of us ordered the hot braised chicken combo's. Mine was supposed to not have onions (as I am allergic to onions) in the chicken fried rice. The worker at J&I even told the girl picking up, "no onions in either of them" Well, my chicken fried rice had some onions in it (not a bunch, but some, NO chicken in it, and nothing else but rice. so bland as can be. The other girl had the normal amount of onions in hers. The Crab Rangoon tasted as if it had been sitting there for hours, gross. I decided to call the store to complain as this was unacceptable & we had to through away almost all of the food because it was so disgusting. The man who answered the phone was not helpful or friendly at all & said something like "we fry the noodles first then cook them". What??? At least that is what it sounded like....who knows, I couldn't really understand him as he barely spoke English. Then when I told him the food was disgusting & we couldn't even eat it, he just said "Sorry, thank you" and hung up. WTH? Do NOT go to this place. I know none of us ever will again. read more

The food was HORRIBLE!! We ended up throwing most of it away. They even managed to burn the egg drop soup! The noodles were over cooked. The crab rangoon tasted like molded cream cheese. This place used to be the best Chinese food in Fenton & I was excited to eat there again. I don't know what happened but I'll never eat there again! Don't waste your money!! read more

Hands down the best Chinese I've had in this area! You can see the kitchen as they cook everything fresh for you. Everything we ordered was hot and fantastic! For me it all hinges on the chicken, and it was just perfect here, juicy and tender, no stringy or tough bits like I find at a lot of takeout places. Loved it! read more

This used to be the best Chinese restaurant around. We ate there all the time for years, Everything on the menu was great and consistent. However, in the last couple years the food and the quality of the ingredients have gone downhill and the last couple times have been downright disgusting. First off, the vegetables, mushrooms, etc that they use now are horrible but that's NOTHING compared to how gross the meats are. There is no way to describe how spongy and weird of a texture/consistency that the chicken and beef has. It seriously cannot be real meat. The food here was terrible. I ordered kung pao chicken and the chicken consistency was god awful. It didn't even feel like chicken. The crab Rangoon was soggy and not even crisp and the rice I swear was minute rice. How bad is it if you can't make good steamed rice at a Chinese resturaunt?!? All in all I'm afraid to waste my money to try a different dish.... From now on I'm hiking it over to panda where I can get real food and more for my money read more

Me and my wife order from j&i all the time and we are very pleased with the taste,the price,the generous portions and how fast they serve you,we usually get the "special lo men"and I usually order the orange chicken and sometimes the Mongolian beef,I've eaten at a lot of small Chinese food places but I have to say that j&i is one of the best and all I can say is if it passes my Asian wife's taste test then that should be enough because she is really picky about her Asian foods,anyway I hope this helps and anyone writing bad reviews about this place must not know what good fast Chinese food taste like in my humble opinion. read more

This was not good. I ordered General Tsao's chicken. There was a lot of bread, tooth breakingly hard, and very little chicken taste to it. The rice was chewy and still hard. The crab Rangoon was more hard bread than filling. read more

This place is great! Just about all the food is made from scratch. The best is...well everything. If your having a bad cold or just want some good chicken noodle soup then this is the place to go.-its fresh and home made.-they make the broth there and use fresh veggies. I see the owners John and Irene-thus the name J&I prep the food every morning and clean the kitchen EVERY NIGHT!! The place is clean and John and Irene ARE CHINESE 1st Generation, so it's Real chinese! The crab rangoons are made there, the only thing that isnt is the egg rolls which are shipped in, but EVERYTHING ELSE is made there and fresh. The portions are a bang for the buck! J&I havent raised their prices for quite some time so its been stable. I suggest the Duck fried rice if its available, or better yet ask for some "Real chinese fried rice" Its the REAL chinese fried rice-no soy sause. ITS THE ONLY CHINESE KITCHEN/RESTAURANT I GO TO ANYMORE!!! :) I suggest calling in the order first to pick up. ITs a smal mom&pop store and its authentic as you can get. There are only 2 tables with 4 chairs each to eat in-due to the small available size of the area. BUT its worth it! read more
