I visited this restaurant solely on the recommendations here on Yelp. What a mistake. I cannot fathom how anyone could think this food was worthy of anything but a trash can. Horrible and way overpriced, even if it was as good as all the reviews seem to think. Should have known better after seeing this place; dark, dank, run down, no other customers at 6 pm on a Tuesday and apparently one person running the kitchen, the phone and the cash register. The pot stickers were acceptable and the sauce served with them was very good. The Crab Rangoon, see pic, was terrible, no flavor at all, just cream cheese, and who makes Crab Rangoon like that. The real disappointment was the cashew chicken. It had absolutely no flavor except for the soy sauce I added. Worst Chinese food I have ever experienced. If you decide to give this place a try, ask yourself if you really want to order something after walking in the door. Epically bad!!!! read more

The food here is delicious, at first we were concerned about their dinner prices when we got our total but each of their full orders is at least 2 full meals! Their fried rice is excellent well seasoned, packed full of flavor! The veggie egg foo young(the brown gravy puts it over the top)and the Kung Pao chicken are our favorite dishes so far! Our order was thoughtfully prepared, and the service was efficient, and generous! We dug into our meals before taking photos, so there's no visible evidence of our feast aside from our leftovers, but Thank you Lui Shun Wok! We will be back! read more

My go-to Chinese restaurant! Simply the best in St. Louis! The hot and sour soup (vegetarian) will knock your socks off!! I've brought extra to work with me to share and always have people bring more to them. The crab Rangoon is the O.G. Rangoon. Not the sweet 'dessert-like' ones. Try everything! This is actually a to-go operation ... two or three small tables inside; basically a counter with a kitchen behind it. But don't let that discourage you - this is easily the best Chinese food we've had in years, including our decades in the San Francisco Bay Area, Fresh food - all cooked to order, not over-seasoned, large portions! We had seasame chicken and house (pepper) beef - each serving adequate for three or four people. Perfectly hot, tasty, non-greasy, little explosions of flavor in each bite! The pork eggs rolls were a revelation - crispy thin coating filled with pork and veggies, too good to spoil with soy sauce or hot mustard. Large rolls, handmade! And the hot sour soup was the best we've ever had - every bit tasty, unlike any other ... I don't know the secret, and don't care as long as I can order this from them. Wowza!! The couple running this purveyor are nice, friendly and helpful - food cooked to order, small batch, no delivery ... be patient, and you will be rewarded beyond any reasonable dream!! First off I will say that the food is all very good. The Kung Pai Chicken, Orange Chicken, Won Ton Soup, Egg Rolls, and crab rangoon are all delicious. On top of that, the owners are very nice. But, the menus online here are about half of what the food really costs. The sub-total of my order by the menu, would've been about $50. When I arrived to pick it up, there was no menu in the store except for the online menu shown here in Yelp, but with pricing scratched out and new prices written in. I could not even take an actual menu home with me. They just wrote some prices down on a piece of paper and added it up with a calculator. It was $90.00!!! This seemingly "mom and pop" Chinese restaurant was a perfect place to satisfy my Chines food hunger, the biggest problem with this place, is that they give you too much food. The dinner specials are just outrageous in the amount they give you, best to just order one and split it amongst two people. Soup, fried or steamed rice, entree and egg roll or crab rangoon left no room for me to have even a fortune cookie for dessert. The food overall was good, the egg roll a bit "mushy" for my taste, I like egg rolls crunchy and filled with at least some meat for variety. I tried the General Tso's chicken combo plate and it was $16 which I would be happy to spend if it was quality. I could tell from looking at the rice that it probably wasn't going to be very good. There was two chili peppers on top of the chicken so you would think it would have some heat to it but there was absolutely no flavor. They were just using them as a garnish I suppose. It took almost an hour to make my food and I suppose the only nice thing I have to say is, I didn't get food poisoning. read more

Pretty much every week we try to get Chinese food and I have been searching and searching. So far this is the best one we have had but still has some areas that could be improved on. The best little egg rolls...yummmy.....the are great... Crab Rangoon---skip them here--what little filling there is ---way too sweet... Two mounds of rice which is nice --- My husband ordered me orange chicken not sure why because I always get Sweet and Sour (you think after 25 years he would know!) Next week I will make sure I get the sweet and sour so I can judge fairly....but this week the egg rolls earned them some high marks...... You meal comes with soup also which I did not eat because again...I always get won-ton but for some reason the hubby brought two other choices home.....probably so he could eat them both and he did and enjoyed them tremendously..... read more

I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing the food and service was. I ordered the general chicken and beef and peppers for a large takeout order. I was planning to eat the chicken but I didn't get to it fast enough (the staff bashed the chicken) the beef was my only option. I hate beef served at Chinese restaurants because it usually taste like mystery meat. I tried it anyway and there was not a mystery to this meat. It was the real thing. The multitude of good reviews is what got me here. When we arrived at about 7:00 on a Tuesday there was nobody else at the restaurant - and you had to go to the counter and get a menu. I admit, I was leary at this point and my 88 year old mom, who I had talked into trying this place, had that "what did you get me in to" look. A friendly lady came from the kitchen area and told us to sit wherever we wanted - all five tables were open. So, we sat and momentarily she came by to take an order for drinks. I ordered unsweetened ice tea and was advised that there was no tea - sweet or unsweetened - and she pointed at an assortment of cans on the counter. In that case, water will be fine. The water came shortly, with no ice. But, she did have a smile and took our orders. I ordered King Pao Shrimp and mom ordered Chicken Moo Goo Gai Pan because she doesn't like spicy. The dinners came with soup and an egg roll. She brought the soup right out. It was egg drop soup and it was the best I had ever eaten - and it was a relatively large bowl. We finished the soup and we waited........and waited.......and waited. While we waited, I went back to Yelp and read some reviews. Between the reviews and the people coming in to pick up orders, I began to understand that this place is probably about 90% take out. After a long wait, the lady and a man brought out our food. They were both apologetic for the long delay. As far as I could tell, they were the only two working and, again as far as I could tell, they did everything. The food was great. Mom said her's was bland, but I think all Moo Goo Gai Pan is bland. My Kung Pao Shrimp was very good and there was a lot of it. We both had some to take home and that almost never happens to me. The food - flavor, quantity and temperature would have been 5 stars. I failed to mention that the fried rice with my meal was true fried rice, nor just steamed rice with a bit of soy sauce along with a couple carrots and peas. So - if you don't mind waiting and aren't picky about your drink, then dine in. The couple are very nice and friendly, but very busy. Ok, so let's start with the best part... the food is fantastic. We decided to try Liu Shun because our favorite Chinese restaurant in the area - Hunan Royal - appears to have permanently closed. This was our first stop as we seek a replacement go-to spot, and we will definitely be back! We ordered two dinner combos - spicy chicken and moo goo gai pan - and both of them, along with the fried rice, egg drop soup, egg roll and crab Rangoon were excellent. Oh, and the portion sizes are HUGE... well worth what they're charging. I personally was not excited about the hot and sour soup as it was too sweet for me, but I do understand why others love it (and I did eat the whole bowl). We also had the pot stickers, and we will not order them again. They were just ok on taste, but the texture was off, and the sauce was not to our liking at all (it hit the trash). There were a few things off with the location (which led to the four stars instead of five)... First, ordering over the phone was a challenge. It appears there is a husband/wife team running the place and they're the only ones working right now. I started out talking to the wife on the phone, and she quickly had to hand me off to the gentleman - who was very helpful, yet extremely rushed to get my order/get off the phone. Once we arrived, they had a sign outside about the virus, and it almost seems to indicate they have the virus (not the case... they're alerting patrons that their operations have changed). I can imagine this is off-putting to some. The inside... well, it's bare-bare-bare bones, and because they're not seating people indoors right now, there's a lot of stuff strewn about. Again, not a deal breaker, but I would expect a certain level of tidiness in a dining room that just wasn't there. All of this said, I cannot wait to order from them again and hope that they remain in business. If you have a taste for Chinese food and are around the South County area, give them a shot! read more

This is my family's go to Chinese place and tonight we made the mistake of going somewhere else. Never again. Everything here is made with more love and more quality ingredients than any other place you can go in the area. The sweet and sour sauce is on a different level...so good. Portions are big (did someone seriously complain that they get too much food?), the chicken is crunchy juicy and delicious, and the prices are great. The inside area is a wreck but who cares? Not me. This is a small restaurant whose chef has a big heart. The service, attention to detail, quantity and care are unbeatable. I asked them to make me a vegetarian dish that was not on the menu. I asked for something without oil, MSG and sugar. They made a delicious dish and I have been hooked to eating there ever since. I go to this restaurant often; whenever I desire the special dish they concocted for me. I strongly recommend trying this little restaurant. The food will just hit the spot. read more

Everyone felt like chinese today and I found this place on yelp. Needed a new place since I hated the place we were going to in Arnold! This place is fantastic! They give you a decent amount of food for the price. There was 4 of us tonight we all ate our food. I had the beef and peapods. 2 other people had the Hawaiian pineapple chicken and said it was fabulous. The shrimp in the Lo mein were huge! The crab ragoons were delicious! The meat was tender and no fatty meat. The meat is also better quality here and they aren't cheap with it either. Let me start by saying I don't normally like to do reviews and understand this has been a very trying time for everyone most importantly the restaurant industry. My large family of 7 ordered from here last night, to try out a new Chinese place....And let me tell you we did order a lot of food!! We looked at the online menu and saw their prices were normal and ordered from there. My mother went to pick up the food and the total was over $200. While we did get A LOT of food this is no where near what the prices online reflected or what we normally have spent. I 100% empathize and understand raising prices via COVID. A lot of extra supplies, extra sanitization goes into the process to continue to make everyone safe. Once my mom got home and I calculated what the total should have been I called and asked about our charges. They did say they raised prices which I understand!!! I asked if they could provide me with a new menu of updates prices, they said they didn't have one and didn't have time to make new menus. When my mom was there she asked for an itemized receipt and they said they couldn't give her one. I asked also over the phone and they said they don't do that. I asked to speak to the owner and he said he lost business and money because of us ordering so much food. It was a big order but not a catering order or a last minute really large order, just for a family of 7. I don't mind prices going up but certainly expect to be told about a price increase before ordering. Tried this place after reading the reviews. Drive by this daily, they are pretty darn good fried rice is awesome! Pot stickers, and egg drop also well and the service was fast and polite. I had the General Tso's again and it just tasted bland. My last bite was over battered. Orange chicken had no flavor despite the orange rinds mixed in with it. Crab rangoon remains the same, all fried crust with a little dab of filling, and it had a cup of sweet and sour, and it was neither of those flavors. The hot and sour soup remains amazingly good.
