My check engine light was on , and I had some loss of power when I accelerate. The initial diagnostic was $ $174.My car was there 3 days before it was ready. Sparky told me to bring the car back if the light went back on. I drove it as instructed I still felt my car had a wobble and loss of power. I called, told them about it. When I brought the car back to take it for a test drive and was going to charge me another $55, but then didn't. He then told me my CV axles were both causing the wobble and loss of power. Quickly wrote me up a ticket for $550. Turns out it was my motor mounts. When the light came back on they were going to charge me another $165 to run another diagnostic. I felt as if I was being taken advantage of. No offense Sparky you're a nice guy oh, but that was shady and overpriced. read more

J and L owner Sparky Will assuringly smile, has an upstanding persona, plays Christian music in his waiting Room but he will smile at you and lie to you. He will be dishonest about whether he knows what's wrong with your car or not. He will not give you the option to do "exploratory surgery" on your car he'll just keep having you bring it in over and over and over again without fixing the problem. We have been taking our vehicles to him for YEARS, even recommended him to friends But after repeatedly taking our vehicle to him for the SAME PROBLEM and spending more money than the car is worth at this point with the promise that it would be fixed each time only to find out that he 'missed' something And was sorry but we would still have to pay $1300 for labor on top of the $2500 we already paid to get it fixed in the 1st place . ( not to mention the other times we PAID for the SAME ticking noise) To error is human, we get it but we have to PAY FOR HIS MISTAKES???After telling him we financially could not swing this and to please reconsider And finish the job correctly that we have hired him to do two times before with THOUGHT,integrity AND CONSIDERATION of a long time relationship He looked us in the eye, told us he would think about it, look at our records and give us a call... that was Christmas.. Sparky sir you are no Christian, I don't know how you sleep at night. The silence and not having the DECENCY to honor your word is SAD.. We will never pull ANY of our cars up in that driveway again and neither will our friends. Yelp another great experience at J and L, took my Mazda 3 in for the air conditioning not working Sparky quoted me $150 to start. That worried me, because i just bought the car and did not know anything about the car, it turned out to be the air conditioner was over charged with Freon. I am assuming the guy who sold it to me tried to put more Freon in and over charged it, So Sparky drained out the system and recharged the system to the right level. Wow!! I got cold air now....and the bill was only $55 :) Thanks again J and L for the great service and not ripping us off. I made an appointment called ahead and made sure I was detailed on the work I needed even left some paperwork showing what I needed done. I waited the three hours and not a single thing was fixed or worked on.! They didn't even care to tell me they didn't have time even tho I dropped my car off 10min before my appointment . Three hours.!!!! I could've and should've spent my day elsewhere.!! I do not recommend this place.!! Worst auto place to go to unless you wanna wait the weekend out till Monday and not have a car to get you around.!! Biggest waste of time.!!!!! 100% never returning.!! read more

Sparky is an honest and truthful mechanic. One that is very hard to find. He's worked on 1 GM gas truck I had, along with multiple diesels over the last 5 or so years. On my last visit, my truck was in at another mechanic's shop and I was told I needed over $3k of work, plus whatever else they find. I knew something was up and not right, as I had been told my truck checked out fine a year ago when having new tires put on and there was certainly not enough miles to cause the issues they claimed. Took my truck right over to Sparky's J and L, since I've had work done there before. Basically, everything the other mechanic told me was a lie. My truck did not need balljoints, bearings/hubs, and almost everything else the other place claimed I needed. Sparky's crew did a full inspection on the truck and said that there was wear, but nothing warranting spending that money and replacing those wear parts. According to other shop, my brake rotors had a lip and I was nearly metal to metal, since my pads were supposedly trashed. Wrong! I knew this ahead of time due to another shop having told me my brakes were fine 4,000 miles prior and then Sparky's report said they were 40%. The truck has 108k on it and I am still on factory brakes all around. After that, I had an oil change and fuel filter change done on my 7.3 diesel, and with the checkup, my bill was well under $400. Sparky was also cheaper on the oil change and fuel filter change than the other shop had quoted me, plus I know he does more work, as he drains the HPOP. From here on, Sparky has all my business.
