The installers arrived at 8am and got right to work! Cash and Alejandro were hard working and this was definitely not their first installation. They moved furniture and were able to spot that my floor was not level in some places and knew exactly how to fix the issue. The way they were able to cut the pieces to fit every corner was very impressive. Their craftsmanship was second to none. Also the installers were able to point out that a piece was missing from my order as soon as they got there and with the help of Lowe's and J and S Lowe's was able to deliver the missing piece. After 2 years my floor is now separating and gapping .I filed a claim with the manufacture which was denied since i was told it was an installation issue. Lowes reached out to their sub contractor a said only covered for 1 year . I contracted a kitchen renovation through Lowes and J&S were the assigned subcontractors for flooring and the backsplash. I've managed construction at work for 15 years and J&S has won the award for contractor least excited to schedule work. The flooring estimator seemed incredibly unhappy and uncooperative. I asked questions about the project and pointed out grade issues and asked about transition pieces and he basically said that they just will figure it out in change orders later. Work took forever to schedule. For both parts of the project it took them about 6 weeks to schedule their portions of the job and I was told that it was their earliest availability. It completely threw off the timeline of all projects and we ended up finishing the project 2 months after estimated. Which has been really stressful just as a person living in a small apartment with no storage. The flooring work was completed professionally and we were satisfied with the work. The estimator for the backsplash seemed good. It took significant time for lowes to send me the estimate and when I did receive it- I was told the tile was out of stock and would come in 2 weeks from then. Two weeks later I received a call from J&S saying that the tile is in but they need to make sure I completed the drywall repair before starting the work. This is the first time I'm hearing about a drywall repair. I'm confused and ask for photos and a description of what needs to be done. Their admin team could not provide those. After 10 days of talking with lowes, I'm sent photos of the whole kitchen. After a bunch of calls, I have no further clarification so I just puddy any of the existing drill holes and prime it. I send over photos and apparently that was sufficient. I finally have a tile appointment for 6 weeks later. 6 weeks roll by and I get confirmations from both lowes and the installer. The morning of installation rolls around and I get a call from lowes in the middle of the installation window saying that a box of tile is missing and the project will have to be rescheduled. I've already taken time off from work and I've spent a wild amount of time on the phone about the drywall situation. I ended up driving over to lowes and picking up the tile that they had and a tile cutter. I canceled the rest of the work with J&S. I ended up finishing the project in less time than I spent on the phone about the dry wall with half a box left. This stuff isn't rocket science. It would be nice to be able to delegate things in your life for pay and have a company actually take an effort on finishing the work in a timely fashion. I have two more tile projects to do in my condo and I guess I'm doing them myself from now on. read more

We spent over $4,000 on new carpet installation, and unfortunately the entire experience was frustrating. The installation process with J&S was disappointing. They measured incorrectly and didn't bring enough material to complete the job on the first visit. They also failed to call ahead as promised and sent installers who appeared unqualified. At one point, they attempted to glue incorrectly cut carpet pieces into corners instead of fixing the issue properly. In several areas, the carpet wasn't even secured to the tack strip and was left loose on the floor. Because of these issues, the project dragged out to nearly a month, including an additional two-week delay to complete the work. During that time, carpet and padding were left sitting in my driveway for two weeks, despite paying extra to have the old carpet removed. When the job was finally completed, there were noticeable seams throughout the room that were not part of the original proposal. Reaching Lowe's management was difficult, as calls were not returned promptly, but after finally connecting with a manager, a small discount was applied as a courtesy. To make matters worse, J&S followed up asking us to leave a positive review and specifically pushed for all "7s," both in person and over the phone, which felt inappropriate given the experience. Update (2024): We ultimately had to pay an additional $300 out of pocket to have a family friend restretch the carpet due to wrinkles throughout the space--further evidence of poor installation. Overall, we are very dissatisfied with both the service and the lack of accountability. read more

Had appetite installed with note to move heavy furniture...well here goes carpet installed great but unfortunately they damaged my brand new furniture...I purchased carpet at lowes in hillsboro nj and they subbed it out to j and s...neither of the workers spoke English and they damaged my furniture called them right away they said it was lowes responsibility and lowes said it was ja nd s responsibility. Now the 2 workers for j and s deny damaging my furniture. The best part about this whole experience my bed cost 1000 and lowes offered me a 100 gift card and said buy a paint pen to repair it..I paid them 2300 for carpet and install and this is how they value there customers.....worsted experience ever and will no longer be doing buisness with lowes..it's a real shame purchased at least 8k worth of materials from them in past 6months.....I guess I'm a real valued ustomer lol live and learn... I purchased expensive carpeting and padding from Lowes for a few rooms in my home. J & S sent someone to measure and he was incredibly nice and efficient. When the installers came to install the carpet they, too, were incredibly nice and EXCELLENT at their jobs. My stairway is custom and they did a fantastic job on the stairs. I met GENO at Lowe's PARSIPPANY where he and his 2 coworkers were in the aisles PITCHING customers of FREE INSTALLATION! Here are the RED FLAGS to RUN: Thru send Father Time to your home who BANGS on the door like the police and RINGING the doorbell like a maniac Once he comes inside your home; he gives you his 35 year resume of how long he's been drawing & taking measurements! He may need glasses because you are supposed to install CARPET FROM WALL TO WALL - instead he puts a SEAM in the middle of the floor. Once I asked him to correct it - he got a bad attitude I then took the photo of the correct version with my phone and be tried to CHASTISE me saying "Your not supposed to take a photo"; I can do what I wish in my house. Luckily I did; because HE submitted the 1st incorrect version. Once I spoke to MADDY WALKER at Lowe's she confirmed that FATHER TIME submitted what he wanted to submit - the incorrect version; so I emailed her the photo of the correct version - see attached. Maddy then recalculated and stated there is an INSTALLATION FEE - where GENO said and it's printed FREE INSTALLATION! I Just spoke to Kayla - who basically did nothing but only to say - I will speak to GENO! I spoke to GENO who clearly has AMNESIA saying "who told you free installation"? I said "You said Free Installation and it's printed on my paperwork by your friend who you instructed"! He said "I never said FREE INSTALLATION" I replied "yes you did, you said Lowe's is currently offering a promotion FREE INSTALLATION" Bottom Line - RUN! GENO and J&S Flooring is QUICK to PITCH with NO Purpose of producing & providing service. Lowe's can do better - Lowe's can find another Flooring Company! Lowe's subcontracted our flooring project at our co-op apartment in NYC to J&S Flooring and the experience was terrible. Roughly 30 days ago J & S sent someone to do an inspection and take measurements and all was good to go to start on Nov 17th. My family arranged to vacate our apartment for an entire week as this was the timeframe we were given by J&S. I took vacation time as did my wife and we pulled our child out of school for the entire week to spend it with my in-laws in another state 2.5 hours away. I confirmed with J&S on 11/12 that the work would start on 11/17. We removed all our furniture and belongings from the area as instructed by J&S on 11/13 as we planned to vacate on Friday 11/14. On 11/14 J&S called and said they noticed a "discrepancy" with the first inspection and they needed to do a subsequent inspection and the earliest they could send someone was 11/18 (The work was supposed to start on 11/17). I insisted the inspection be done ASAP. By this time we vacated because we couldn't live in our apartment at this point because we already moved all the furniture. J&S sent an inspector on 11/17 who determined the work could not be done because of an issue with the sub-floor. This issue could have been detected a month earlier had J&S done their due diligence and sent an inspector who would've performed a thorough inspection. Instead, my family was majorly inconvenienced. I spent quite a bit of time, effort and money planning and coordinating this ordeal for it to amount to nothing because of the shocking incompetence of this company. We were given a refund by Lowe's on the project thankfully. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!!!!! read more

Greta installation service. The two installers went above and beyond moving furniture. They moved heavy furniture and helped put it all back assembling the bedroom set. They did no damage in a very difficult tight space. I recommend these guys to anyone needing a carpet installed perfectly and clean as can be. read more

BUYER BEWARE. The initial installation plan was for a laminate wood floor in an apartment living room and bedroom. During the room measurement, there was no mention of a potential problem with the floor surface not being level. However, when the J&S installation team arrived, a large level was placed on the bare floor, and the team leader announced that it was not possible to install the laminate flooring because the subfloor was not perfectly flat. The installation was aborted, and the supplies for the installation were removed. However, I subsequently learned from a relative who has experience with flooring installations and my real estate agent that such laminate flooring is not glued directly to the subfloor; it is instead floated and any irregularity is dealt with using underlayment material. I can only guess what the issue was with the J&S installers: lack of experience? Unwilllingness to deal with a nonideal installation? As this is a New Jersey firm, there was an issue with the lack of onsite parking, which is typical in New York City. I would recommend instead hiring a company within the City---Brooklyn or Bronx, and be aware that Lowes' subcontracts this company for installations in the City. Save yourself a lot of hassle and go with in-city installers. read more

I would not recommend this company because you are not hiring J & S, you are simply using J & S to assign a sub-contractor to do your job but you don't know that at the time when you make the purchase through Lowes. Lowes and J & S advertise that they have this relationship together for 30 years but it isn't so. I had a 3rd party here for the job and the workers had no idea who J & S were. I had an issue with an incomplete saddle, a ceramic tile in attached room the installers broke and I was not given 1 leftover piece of vinyl plank that I already paid for, not one! How can that be? The job measured over for extra than actual square footage needed. J & S called to ask about my satisfaction so I explained how I needed the saddle done, the tile fixed and they asked for a photo which I provided and I asked how there could possibly not be one piece of vinyl plank leftover. They were rude on the phone with their explanations that the job is done and I would need to hire someone to fix my issues. I have never heard back after I sent the photos. read more

They came to measure my job as a Lowes installer. The person who measured would not give me a total square footage of the area when I asked which I thought was strange since he was there to measure. A couple of days later the square footage estimate came in 30 square feet over my own estimate and the estimate of another vendor. I suggested to the Lowes representative that they come back and remeasure which apparently was not an option. If I agreed to their estimate I was bound by that for the labor portion even if it was found that 30 sq feet of material remained after the install. The quote also included a very big delivery and acclimation charge (in excess of $200) I later found out that this portion was optional but just the fact that they would charge that much for delivery for a 1 room plus small hallway job was a turn off. read more

I have never had such great service, from the people on the phone scheduling (so critical) to the amazing three men who put the carpet in. These J & S installers were fast, expert, respectful of the space (took their shoes off, didn't damage anything), courteous and friendly. They worked in the terrible heat (I don't have central air) without complaining. The results were beautiful. In this day and age when service seems to have gone downhill, this company is a bright shining star and a consolation--and it's workers are its pride. Thank you! read more

J & S Flooring did a beautiful job installing luxury vinyl planking throughout my home. The crew did a great job making sure everything was performed to my specifications. During the order process we had difficulty getting stair nose and transition pieces to match our flooring as they were back ordered. Alternate pieces were chosen so that our work could be completed. Unfortunately, they looked awful and the workers realized it. The next thing we knew, Marco, their foreman was at our home assessing the problem. He went out of his way to drive a great distance to find us matching stair nose. He was not able to locate transition pieces but promised to do so and deliver them to us soon. This company pulls a bait and switch game. They have no way for the customer to contact them no call just show up. When they show up use broken equipment held together with tape and then tell you that your sub floor is wet and you have to wait an additional 5 days for it to dry. If I could give them a lower rating I would. My flooring was purchased through Lowes and the store acknowledged that they have many issues and complaints about this company however, main office in Lowes refuses to change the company. Had Lowes infomred me of the issue with the company I would have went somewhere else for my flooring never again. read more

Ordered carpet from Lowes. J&S did install. Prior to install communication great. 1 service offered was cutting down doors for $15 a piece. I confirmed this with Lowes and J&S prior to install. Day of install the people doing he work know nothing about the doors. When questioned they get someone on the phone from the office. That person says he will be there at 9am Monday. That Monday morning nobody shows or calls. Nobody picks up on the phone and the person who did the install does not give me any info....Glad I gave him a nice tip. He randomly shows up in the afternoon when i am not around without a call, email, text etc. and cuts 1 door crooked and then leaves with 3 others off the hinges. I had a family member over painting who let him in. Then he takes another week to call back to let me know they cant do the work. Just tell me up front and stop the run around BS. Very unprofessional. The carpet install was fine, just the BS afterwards ruined the experience. It also left me with an unexpected job that easily could have been communicated. read more

J & S tells you they will come to your home from 8am to 12pm to do measurement but don't call to give you an estimated time on the day off. They also do not confirm the appointment the night before. its 11;15am and I am still waiting for someone to show up to do the measurements. I have not received a call to let me know an estimate time when someone will arrive. I called the office 732-497-0757 but no one picks up the phone. The Website state they are opened today but no one is available to pick up the phone. I will wait until 12pm and hopefully they would keep their word and show up. Thank you Lowes for hiring another unreliable company to install my floors. The first company B&N did a horrible job. I am trying to get this resolve for months. I had a good experience with J&S flooring. The times that I called and left a message, they always called back within 10-20 minutes. I had the pleasure of speaking with Regina who was friendly and nice to deal with. She helped me find out that Lowes had everything ready but never updated their system. A quick call to Lowes and the next day J&S flooring called to set up an appointment. Installer Michael called the day of the install, prior to arriving. Arrived when he said he would and did a great job installing the carpet in my bedroom and stairs. I definitely plan on using them again when I re-carpet my living room and my daughter's room. read more

I went to Lowe's in Brooklyn NY for flooring. J & S Flooring was the Company selected by Lowe's to perform the detailed measurement and installation. J & S Flooring is a very unreliable company they never showed up for the measuring appointment and they never called. The day before the measuring appointment J & S never called to confirm the appointment I had to call them. The receptionist who handles the incoming calls for J & S is very rude and unhelpful she has no people skills at all. It seems J & S flooring is the only company who could do the installation for Lowe's in Brooklyn so I am taking my business else where because this company is horrible. read more

We ordered our carpeting through Lowe's in Rutherford NJ. J and S sent out someone to measure All we needed carpeted were our stairs and 2 landings. We waited and finally got the call the carpet was in! Two men, very polite and efficient showed up. They came in first to see where the carpet was to be installed and had a look of confusion. They informed me that there was way too much carpet in the truck for the order. Something had gone wrong. To make a long story short after a few phone calls J and S came through with a refund for additional carpet that was ordered in error. They took full responsibility. We received the check today. This is a class act business. However the people we dealt with at Lowe's were not. Ronny(?) was not very polite and said it was not Lowe's problem. Not I'm sorry at all. After I lost my cool telling him the bill is on my Lowe's card that's who I'm paying so it is their fault. Why are the big stores so bad at customer service? Doesn't take much but we will now be going to Home Depot and if we need carpeting we are going to J and S directly! read more

I have used J&S flooring on 5 different rooms over 4 different installs. I have installed laminate in a family room, sitting room and closet. vinyl in a bathroom, and porcelain in a laundry room. All my floors were purchased through Lowes and installed by J&S who was contracted by Lowes. Let me first say that the work crews were excellent. They did high quality work, were very neat and cleaned up after themself. They were also very friendly. My only issue with the installed was on the very first job when the workers cut the 1/4 round with snips rather than a saw and left a very unfinished look in the corners and edges. I corrected this on future visits. I would give the install 5 stars. The J&S estimator that came out was very friendly and was knowledgeable about the products I was planning on using and convinced me to change my planned material for the laundry room. The reason for the 4 stars is due to the over estimation in material. When Lowes told me the amount of material needed I questioned the amount and they told me they had go by the estimation. The good news is that Lowes took back the unwanted material but I paid labor based on the inflated estimate. On a recent job, I returned 15% of the total cost of a job in excess material. I understand that there is waste during an install and you usually build in 10% for this perhaps a little more for unusual size rooms. Im my case, the rooms were pretty straight forward so 25% waste was not warranted. Over all I have had a very positive experience. read more

J & S Flooring is a sub contractor for Lowes and handles the measuring and installation of wall to wall carpeting. Although the installation was acceptable, the person that measured used computer software that adds 20% overage of materials and even if there is a more efficient layout the computer cannot be over written. If you purchase carpet from Lowes in the metro NY CT NJ area and it is not a simple rectangular room area, request that the measuring be done manually... you will save a lot of money. read more
