We've been here several times for pizza. It has been pretty busy each time which is a testament to their popularity amongst the locals. Our take is a bit of a mixed bag. They NY pizza has a good taste and if they are not too swamped is well made. When they get in the weeds the pizza suffers. Also, the Sicilian pizza is not something I would recommend or will order again. We plan to continue coming for pizza and to maybe try some of their other menu items but if they are buried, we will look elsewhere. read more

As a new Fuqauy Varina resident, we came downtown one day to this place to try it out. Dang! First of all, the staff was everything they should've been and more. It feels very homey in there, and the decorations are bodacious. And of course, the food. Oh my god... the food. They make every dish with not a sprinkle of love, but a mountain of it. The pizza, pasta, and wings are the highlights there. The food is also very affordable, so if bring your whole family, get whatever you want, you can still make it out debt-free. Rainy day, vacation might be the best time to seat and eat here. We didn't have a lot of time in between classes and it's great that no one was here. So we got served quickly. They are still getting a lot of pick up so it's not like they have no business. But they are efficient. Our server is really nice and attentive. The music was in good taste and it's not too loud. The food came out fast and warm. I like how they served the chicken on the salad. The chicken was juicy, good flavour and not dry. The mozzarella sticks was fun to eat. My kids were having a contest on who will have a longer string of cheese. The calamari had a nice texture, crispy, and well seasoned. The kids spaghetti and ravioli was the right portion. It came with a lot of sauce which was nice. The meatball was not super hot so she was able to eat it. Overall, it's a good place to eat. When it's nice, they can be packed. So let me start by saying based on the on line order I placed it appeared it was for delivery. I may have messed up but when I have to confirm my address ? Anyway. Placed an online order for delivery. Got an eta. Waited and after it was 20 minutes past the eta called the restaurant. Was told it was out for delivery. Waited another 30 minutes to call again to be informed the order was for a pickup. Again, maybe I was wrong in the initial order but after inquiring and being told it was out for delivery only to be told it was for pickup was frustrating. Of course after sitting there for probably an hour the pizza was horrible cold and the wings were like bricks. When i asked about the confusion at pickup the manager didnt seem to really care. Disappointing Return Visit. We visited this restaurant in the fall and enjoyed a decent 16" Sicilian Pizza while sitting outside, so we decided to give it another try. This time, I stopped in around 6 pm on a Saturday. The dining room was busy, but not overwhelmingly so, and there were a few to-go orders. After being seated and given menus, we were completely ignored while other tables around us received prompt service. We were about to leave when a bartender/waitress finally noticed us. It seemed our assigned waitress didn't want to serve us--maybe because of our matching "Merry Christmas" sweatshirts, but who knows. We eventually got drinks: water arrived quickly, but my beer and my husband's "special" drink took much longer and both were served warm. My husband's drink was also missing a key ingredient, yet we were charged full price. Hoping things would improve, we ordered appetizers, but they arrived lukewarm and tasted mediocre. The pizza and calzone had fresh ingredients, but unfortunately, they weren't very good. Throughout our meal, a gentleman stood behind the glass where the pizza's are made (not working) watching everything but did nothing to help. Okay so wife and I ate here last night and we really enjoyed it. The weather was amazing so we wanted to sit outside. We only ordered a single pizza. No apps, no desserts. And the pizza was really good. Well cooked too - the crust had a great crisp to it. I need to come back here and try it a 2nd time to really confirm this review, but it's good pizza. I really wish I could give this place more stars. I love their chicken parm and eggplant parm. And their cannolis aren't too bad either. But as a Jersey girl, I cannot forgive their undercooked pizza crust, EVERY SINGLE TIME. I always order my pizza well done, and it still comes undercooked. The flavor isn't bad, but it's overshadowed by crust that is so pale and underdone. One other dish they either need to completely revamp or just take off their menus is their carbonara. It is loaded, and I mean loaded, with onions! And it has cream in it. It should not. It's supposed to be bacon (pancetta), onion (a bit, not a ton) and egg pasta. Our experience at J&S Pizza was just okay. We dined inside, there are a few tables available both inside and outside but most order takeout. I started with a Foothills Hoppyum, the beer list was slim. They will be opening a full bar soon though. My husband and I split the mozzarella caprese, a small caesar salad and a 14 inch garbage pizza for our meals. The food was good but was not the best, the pizza was also soggy towards the middle. Pizza is good. My issue is management/servers. I came to the restaurant, representing a local youth nonprofit. We were trying to promote local businesses by offering a discount card as a fundraiser for our youth. Local businesses provide discounts/services on the card. (Free drink with meal, as an example) At the Fuquay Varina location, I spoke in person with a server who said she would check with the manager. She walks over to the corner and is clearly speaking to someone who is seated and out of view. As she is walking toward me, following the brief conversation with management, the manager quickly scurried to the kitchen, out of sight, while she says they are not interested. I then call the Apex location, hoping that this was just a bad day for the manager in Fuquay. I called at 1 PM, granted, this is the lunch rush on a Tuesday. After a 15 second explanation of who I was, and why I was calling, the lady who answered the phone tells me that "if I am not placing an order, or calling to inquire about an order, she will have to hang up on me", rather than asking me to call back at another time or giving me a different name or email to contact. Management did not have the decency to have a 30 second conversation with me to explain their reasoning to not want to promote their pizzeria on our discount card or to suggest a different time for me to inquire. I promptly visited a local competitor who has locations in the same towns, and we are happy to have them on our card. We will not request their participation on our discount, card moving forward, and they have lost a local families business who has been purchasing their food for 10 years. read more

We have been getting pizza here for about a year and, I'm sorry to say, it is not as good now as it was a year ago. We ordered a pizza yesterday and there were hardly any toppings on it and the cheese and sauce were spread so unevenly it looks like a homemade pizza. The pizza was ok , not the best I've had but ok for a quick lunch. The service was absolutely terrible . I was left standing at the register waiting for my order to be taken while the server chatted with another customer. When she decided to take my order she was rude and acted as if I was holding her up from continuing her conversation . As I sat waiting for my food I realized the person behind me had already gotten their food and thought .. where was mine . As I stood, I saw a pizza box sitting on top of the oven . I told her sprite and asked for light ice which she disregarded completely, filling the ice almost to the brim of the cup and then retrieved my pizza box , giving me no straw or napkins. Tonight we were looking for the best pizza place in Fuquay, Varina, and man that we find it!! We ordered an all meat pizza and the crust was incredible. The toppings were so fresh and delicious plenty of cheese just how we like it in New Jersey and the medium is more than enough for two people. J&S will definitely be our Friday night pizza spot! there is also a nice bar in the building along with multiple TVs to watch your favorite sporting events or shows!! the owner is extremely polite and introduced himself as well as took time to ask if we were enjoying the food!
