Two things to note. First, we will be back to try again. Second, it is because of the food and that is what earned the three stars. The penne alla vodka was delicious as well as the Caesar salad. I got a piece of salmon with the salad but it was small, dried and under seasoned. All to be said, the pasta was just that good. The dining room is a little dark even for a date night but it fits the Italian restaurant vibe. What makes it difficult was the service received. Everything was great until it wasn't and that was about halfway through the meal. Our server disappeared for about 20+ minutes when she brought the check after I asked the manager. Another take out/ pick up order tonight. We had the eggplant Parmesan, chicken piccata and free pepperoni rolls. Both entrees were packaged very well and were still warm when I got home. I was surprised to find a generous supply of artichoke hearts in the chicken piccata. The chicken was tender, the sauce good but thin. The eggplant dish was delicious and came with bread. Both dishes came with pasta too. The free pepperoni rolls were a special that was included in our order. They were ok but we like the garlic rolls better. This place looked great online but we were a little disappointed after trying the food. For starters, there is good parking, lots of patio/outside/inside seating, quick service, and friendly servers. However, the food missed the mark. We ordered mozzarella sticks and a margherita pizza for starters, and then penne alla vodka, cheese ravioli, and the lamb chops special for lunch. The mozzarella sticks tasted like they were fried in oil straight from the freezer and you could tell it was not fresh. The complimentary bread was good and we also liked the pizza. The penne alla vodka was okay- you could tell the noodles needed to sit in the sauce and cook a little more. The cheese ravioli was mediocre. The worst dish was the lamb chops special- the meat was completely unseasoned and it just tasted super gamey with no flavor. The potatoes on the side were made with a smoked (gouda?) cheese and tasted way too smokey and off. The whole dish was a miss. After we told our server how our meal was, she offered a complimentary dessert. We chose the tiramisu and liked it. read more

Today I stopped by Garibaldi's to bring them the object I found in my pasta. I met with the owner, Alda and explained what happened and handed him the object. He was very apologetic and insisted in making me another dish as well as serving me a beer while I waited. He stayed with me the entire time and we had a wonderful conversation. He explained that the object was a clip from the pasta bag that must have come loose and fell into the pot by mistake. Alda couldn't have been nicer. Took the family here for a night before Christmas and all of us said WOW! If you're looking for some good food at reasonable prices with atmosphere and service then you best try Garibaldis! I had Veal Piccata that was the best I ever had, one of us had the tortellini that was an "oh my" and three had the special which was a ravioli with shrimp, scallops and some lobster sauce that was absolutely over the top. Early on a Friday evening several specialties were not available, and the service tempo was off, with our wine order arriving after the appetizer course was finished as an example. What we (and they) did have, chicken parm and veal Marsala tonight, was tasty, without portions being such that there was no room for dessert. I've only ordered take out, so maybe restaurant experience is better. It's one of my favorite places food wise. I'd definitely recommend. The biggest drawback for me is it's rather expensive. Maybe I'm cheap? But IMHO serving sizes don't reflect the price. We usually spend at least $75+ for 2 people/takeout out, yikes. We don't order much - one actual meal, a salad, and dessert, which we split. A couple of times, things have been missing from the order. Like my side of pasta. And another time a dessert. Della Casa Salad is small, nothing super fancy for almost $12. If you add grilled chicken, to make it more of a meal, it's another $8. Ends up being almost $20 for a small salad which is crazy. It tastes good though. Just really needs to be a lot bigger. Chicken French is delicious! Highly recommend. It's 2 pieces of chicken breast in a consistently tasty lemon sauce) Side of penne is ok. It has basil in it - mentioning in case you like or don't like basil. Cannolis are delicious too. They are on the smaller (size of my thumb) size wise, but it comes with three to an order. And a strawberry yum! Food could be hotter, but with takeout, I realize it's probably harder to keep it warm, even though we're not very far away. Haven't sat down yet, but plan to. The service was slow and rude. When we needed something my mom asked another waitress and she said "im not your waitress" and did not help us get ours. It was crowded and we constantly had people push into us. They kept bring the wrong food to our table and then taking it back when we said we did not order that. The food took forever in general. It took a bit to get my drink and when i got it i was disappointing in the flavor of it. Seems like their soda machine is messed up so I asked for another drink. Portions have gotten smaller. Like I love the salmon dish but it always looking smaller and smaller when I get it. Like I barely had any pasta on my plate which was disappointing. They never offer any grated cheese like other tables got and we constantly how to find our server for refills. My dad's order was messed up as the waitress put in the wrong dish. We had to wait forever for him to get his food. He asked for a small pasta or something to hold him over but the waitress said that his dish will be out shortly but it took a ridiculously long amount of time. I feel like they should have done something to get him food in between as the rest of the table ate. It was extremely hot in the place as well making it uncomfortable. This is hands down the best restaurant in Fuquay-Varina and one of the best Italian restaurants anywhere. I have Italian friends who when they come to visit, this is the first place they want to eat every single time. Over the years I've had most of the things on the menu and never a bad meal. Never had bad service. Often times the owner will come out and speak with you as will the chef. The kids meals are spectacular and priced perfect as well. My kids love the pizza. Heck, I love the kids pizza as well as the regular pizza. Best pizza in Fuquay also (vs Anna's, Assagios, J&S, Johnny's, and Aviator). In fact if I want pizza I often order it to go and pick it up. My favorite meal is the lamb lollipops. It's not a permanent menu item but it's always on special. I've had their steaks and they are cooked to perfection and rival the Angus Barn (well, almost...but if he opened a steakhouse like he's been saying for 4 years then it would). The scallops are another favorite meal of mine. I don't really eat pasta myself, heartburn, but all of my friends and family love it. The fettuccini is something I can eat and my daughter loves it and gets it every time. You can't really go wrong with any of their pastas. They do serve hot fresh made bread with olive oil and herbs....we usually go through extra because it's so good. You can't go wrong with any of the salads as a meal or an appetizer. And I always get the Creme brûlée for dessert. I could go on and on about every item on the menu and how great the service is but go see for yourself. My wife and I have struggled to find a place in eastern or central North Carolina that comes close to the Italian diners in the Midwest. Garibaldi hands-down is the best Italian restaurant that I have been to in North Carolina and I've been to a significant amount. If you're in the mood for pizza grandmother's Pizza is also the best pizza I've had in NC. The crust and all the toppings are quality and done right. It's a small place so I'm busy nights. Enjoyed yet another amazing dinner here tonight with my Dad. The clams appetizer was simply amazing! I dipped my bread in that sauce after the clams were gone! They were out of escargot but our wonderful server David suggested the clams and I might've even liked them better. We also ordered the calamari which were crispy yet tender and fresh.
